What’s the difference between each of those pairs  of sentences? One of them is the in active voice  

ആ ജോഡി വാക്യങ്ങൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യത്യാസം എന്താണ്? അവയിലൊന്ന് സജീവമായ ശബ്ദമാണ്

and one of them is in the passive voice. So how  can you tell the difference? That’s what this

the active voice and passive voice in  English all comes down to the ‘subject’  

ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ സജീവമായ ശബ്ദവും നിഷ്ക്രിയ ശബ്ദവും എല്ലാം ഒരു വാക്യത്തിന്റെ 'വിഷയം'

and the ‘object’ of a sentence. The ‘subject’  is the person or thing doing something.  

, 'ഒബ്ജക്റ്റ്' എന്നിവയിലേക്ക് വരുന്നു. എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യുന്ന വ്യക്തിയോ കാര്യമോ ആണ് 'വിഷയം'.

The ‘object’ is having something done to it. For  example, in the sentence ‘Anna walked the dog’,  

'ഒബ്‌ജക്റ്റ്' എന്നതിന് എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്‌തിരിക്കുന്നു. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്, 'അന്ന വാക്ക് ദി ഡോഗ്' എന്ന വാക്യത്തിൽ,

Anna is the subject because she is doing  the action and the dog is the object because  

അന്ന വിഷയം കാരണം അവൾ ആക്ഷൻ ചെയ്യുന്നു, നായ വസ്തുവാണ്, കാരണം

it is having that action done to it. In the sentence ‘I will do my homework’,  

അത് ആ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്യുന്നു. 'ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഗൃഹപാഠം ചെയ്യും' എന്ന വാക്യത്തിൽ

the subject is ‘I’ because I am doing the  action and the object is ‘my homework’.  

വിഷയം 'ഞാൻ' ആണ്, കാരണം ഞാൻ പ്രവർത്തനം നടത്തുന്നു, ഒബ്‌ജക്റ്റ് 'എന്റെ ഗൃഹപാഠം' ആണ്.

In the sentence ‘The loud noise shocked William’,  the loud noise is the subject, because it is doing  

'ഉച്ചത്തിലുള്ള ശബ്‌ദം വില്യമിനെ ഞെട്ടിച്ചു' എന്ന വാക്യത്തിൽ, ഉച്ചത്തിലുള്ള ശബ്ദമാണ് വിഷയം, കാരണം ഇത് പ്രവർത്തനം ചെയ്യുന്നു

the action, in this case it is doing the shocking.  The object is William because he is being shocked. 

, ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ അത് ഞെട്ടിക്കുന്നതാണ്. വില്യം ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയതിനാൽ വസ്തുവാണ്.

A sentence using the active voice can start with  the subject, followed by the verb, followed by the  

സജീവ ശബ്‌ദം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വാക്യത്തിന് വിഷയത്തിൽ ആരംഭിക്കാം, തുടർന്ന് ക്രിയയും തുടർന്ന്

object, followed by the rest of the sentence.  For example: ‘Darren lost the book at school’.  

ഒബ്‌ജക്റ്റും തുടർന്ന് ബാക്കി വാക്യവും ആരംഭിക്കാം. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്: 'ഡാരന് സ്കൂളിൽ പുസ്തകം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു'.

The subject is ‘Darren’, the verb is ‘lost’  or ‘to lose’ and the object is ‘the book’. 

വിഷയം 'ഡാരൻ', ക്രിയ 'നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു' അല്ലെങ്കിൽ 'നഷ്ടപ്പെടുക', ഒബ്‌ജക്റ്റ് 'പുസ്തകം' എന്നിവയാണ്.

A sentence using the passive voice is constructed  differently. This time, we start with the object,  

നിഷ്‌ക്രിയ ശബ്‌ദം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വാചകം വ്യത്യസ്‌തമായി നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈ സമയം, ഞങ്ങൾ ഒബ്ജക്റ്റിൽ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു,

followed by the verb, followed by the subject.  For example: ‘The book was lost by Darren at

So now we know the difference  between the active voice  

നിഷ്ക്രിയ ശബ്ദവും തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യത്യാസം ഇപ്പോൾ നമുക്കറിയാം

and the passive voice. But why do we use them? When constructing basic sentences in English, it

is best to stick to the active voice to make sure  that your sentences are clear and direct. However,

beyond that, English speakers will often choose  to use the active voice because it emphasises

the person or thing who performs an action. For  example: “Isaac achieved an A in his first exam!”

The active voice is the appropriate choice for  this sentence because it emphasises the person,  

സജീവമായ ശബ്‌ദം ഈ വാക്യത്തിന് ഉചിതമായ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പാണ്, കാരണം ഇത്

Isaac, who did the action. If we said the same  sentence in the passive voice, it would be: “An  

പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്ത ഐസക്കിനെ izes ന്നിപ്പറയുന്നു. നിഷ്ക്രിയ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ അതേ വാചകം പറഞ്ഞാൽ, അത് ഇതായിരിക്കും: “

A was achieved by Isaac in his first exam”. It’s  wordy and it’s not as clear or easy to understand.

However, there are circumstances when the passive  voice is more appropriate. For example, when you

want to put the emphasis on the recipient of the  action, or on the action itself. For example:  

പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന്റെ സ്വീകർത്താവിന് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന് തന്നെ emphas ന്നൽ നൽകുമ്പോൾ . ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്:

“The dress was handmade by Megan”. This is a  common pattern in passive voice sentences in the  

“വസ്ത്രധാരണം മേഗൻ കൈകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിച്ചതാണ്”. മുൻകാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ നിഷ്ക്രിയ ശബ്ദ വാക്യങ്ങളിലെ ഒരു സാധാരണ പാറ്റേണാണിത്

past tense: Object, was, the verb, by, subject.  ‘The dress’ is the object, ‘handmade’ is the  

: ഒബ്ജക്റ്റ്, ക്രിയ, ബൈ, വിഷയം. 'വസ്ത്രധാരണം' വസ്തുവാണ്, 'കൈകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിച്ചത്'

action and ‘Megan’ is the subject. This puts the  dress itself and the action of making it by hand  

പ്രവർത്തനവും 'മേഗൻ' വിഷയവുമാണ്. ഇത് വസ്ത്രധാരണത്തെയും വാക്യത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ തന്നെ കൈകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനത്തെയും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു, ഇത്

at the beginning of the sentence, telling the  listener that that is the most important part.

Another time you might need to use the passive  voice is if you don’t want to include the subject,  

വിഷയം ഉൾപ്പെടുത്താൻ നിങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലോ വിഷയം

or if you don’t know who the subject is. For  example: “The bag was stolen on Sunday night”.  

ആരാണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അറിയില്ലെങ്കിലോ ആണ് നിഷ്ക്രിയ ശബ്‌ദം ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ട മറ്റൊരു സമയം . ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്: “ഞായറാഴ്ച രാത്രി ബാഗ് മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു”.

Notice how in this sentence,  ‘the bag’ is the object as it has  

ഈ വാക്യത്തിൽ, 'ബാഗ്' എങ്ങനെയാണ് പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് എന്നത് ഒബ്ജക്റ്റാണെന്ന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക

had the action done to it. It has been stolen.  

. ഇത് മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

But there is no subject in this sentence because  who did the action is unknown or not relevant.

എന്നാൽ ഈ വാക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു വിഷയവുമില്ല, കാരണം ആരാണ് നടപടി നടത്തിയതെന്ന് അറിയില്ല അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പ്രസക്തമല്ല.

So remember: if the subject is at the beginning  of the sentence, followed by the verb,

followed by the object, the sentence is using  the active voice. However, if the sentence  

തുടർന്ന്, ഒബ്ജക്റ്റിനെ പിന്തുടരുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, വാക്യം സജീവമായ ശബ്ദമാണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, വാക്യം

begins with the object, followed by the verb,  followed by the subject, or if the sentence has  

ഒബ്ജക്റ്റിൽ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു, അതിനുശേഷം ക്രിയ, തുടർന്ന് വിഷയം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വാക്യത്തിന്

no subject, then it is in the passive voice. Now it’s time for a quiz. I’m going to read

There are a few different tenses that I'm gonna use so pay close attention to
