So what kind of an accent am I gonna teach you? A lot of people in the United States

have different accents – a Southern accent, a New Your accent,

a California accent, etc But today we gonna focus

that you can hear in movies, TV shows,  news reports and stuff like that

Of course if you want to sound like an American, you should not only have the right pronunciation,

but also use American vocabulary  instead of British vocabulary and

Ok my first tip to improve  your American accent and sound

exactly like a native is 1. Use Common Reductions 

exactamente como un nativo es 1. Usa reducciones comunes

Native speakers actually reduce everything and – n 

Los hablantes nativos en realidad reducen todo y – n

Instead of saying - day and night You can say day n night 

En lugar de decir - día y noche , puedes decir día y noche

for becomes fr Instead of saying - thanks for your help

para convertirse en fr En lugar de decir - gracias por tu ayuda

for – fer thanks fr your help 

por – fer gracias por tu ayuda

or becomes r or = r 

o se convierte en r o = r

coffee or tea coffee r tea

Instead of saying coffee or tea, say coffee r tea Also common reductions native speakers use

all the time lemme wanna gimme gonna

Let me tell you something I wanna do it right now

Also a useful tip that I use to sound like a native speaker is

2. Exaggerating the sound R Some people have problems making the R sound,

so they make a W sound instead. If you wanna speak English correctly

and improve your accent,  please don’t make that mistake.

{ r } This sound is like a grawling dog rrr

That sound is very strong when it goes before the consonant

3. Change your T sound into D sound Let’s listen to native speakers

how they pronounce the phrase exciting opportunity It’s NOT exciTing OpporTuniTy,

it’s sounds like a British version The sound T changes into D sound

when they are between two vowels exciting

Well done! The sound T becomes D 

Bien hecho! El sonido T se convierte en D

and it may happen between words  in the sentence, for example: 

y puede ocurrir entre palabras en la oración, por ejemplo:

I’m not always perfect. We don’t say I’m not always perfect 

no siempre soy perfecto. No decimos que no siempre soy perfecto

We say: Im noD always perfect Do you feel the difference? 

Decimos: no soy siempre perfecto ¿Sientes la diferencia?

Change your Ts into Ds and it’s  gonna make you sound more American

Cambia tus T por D y te hará sonar más estadounidense.

Another trick that you can use is 4. Practice Glottal T 

Otro truco que puedes usar es 4. Practica la T glotal.

When T goes at the end or  at the middle of the word 

Cuando la T va al final o en medio de la

You don’t really pronounce the sound T but it looks like the air stops  

palabra, en realidad no pronuncias el sonido T, pero parece como si el aire se

somewhere in the throat and it comes out of your mouth

Glottal T is an interesting  thing that native speakers do

but if you say written this is NOT incorrect you’re not gonna have anyone misunderstand you

if you pronounce the sound T. But if you really wanna sound

like an American, practice this tip The same thing with the words:

To make sure that you’re doing it right try to play around with the phrase A-oh

What we say when we mess up something A-oh The sound A …is a glottal stop

and you can feel it inside your throat A-oh

And you can practice it adding the sound

you will definitely speak like a native American The next tip is crucial if you wanna

sound natural in English 5. Open your mouth wide

as wide as you can This tip is kind of hilarious,

but if you watch American and Canadian speakers

you’ll see they open their mouth this is just the way they speak

and there’re some sounds and diphthongs that should be pronounced with

6. The next tip to improve your American accent is DROP the T

When you have N and T in a word, the T disappears wanted wannid
