GRift a person who uses a certain thing,

a subject or an emotional response

to to make money is grifting.

You hold on to a certain issue and then you make money from it.

You make a career from it.

Maybe you are a certain I don't know.

You have a certain political view and you can make money from that.

Or maybe you are feeling as if you are a victim of something.

Maybe hatred.

Maybe human beings don't like you when you feel really unhappy.

So you try to make money from it.

Well, when are we going to start making money, Mr.

Well, that's not really a victim, you see.

We have to. We have to be victims, first of all.

So we have to have something that we can say that we are victims of.

that is affecting other people, they just don't seem to care.

So I think maybe that would be a good use of oh goblin mode.

They are just doing whatever they want

for their own selfish need or they're self-indulgent and.

based on selfish need,

and it annoys other people that live around them and they don't seem to care less about it.

And every night this is a new show.

And then in between there are adverts

that people are paying to put on

during the documentaries about Hitler.

So technically, technically, the TV station is making money

and also the advertisers are making money

from this horrible person, this historical tyrant.

He people love to watch programmes about evil, nasty people, don't they?

That's just there's programmes about killers that are there's a series.

Aren't that about killers. Killers.

Yeah.

People who kill other people and do it in a you know, do it in a horrible way.

There's always some programme about some famous killer.

So how do you kill someone? In a nice way. Do you? Just.

So I'm just. I'm just saying, you know, famous people like,

you know, serial killers, for example.

Some of them eat their victims.

There's always a programme about this.

And so, you know, people love to watch programmes about evil people

because they are aspects of of human behaviour that the average person doesn't do.

So when we see that in somebody else, we're fascinated.

Well, you know what makes them do it?

You know, we've all thought about doing it, face it well, thought about doing

evil things.

We all thought about killing somebody or doing something, but we don't actually do it.

So we're fascinated by programmes that actually

where people actually have actually crossed that line

and actually gone ahead and done it because you know, let's face it,

if it wasn't for laws, a lot of us would be

know, just doing all sorts of evil things probably.

I don't know.

But we are fascinating.

It's like watching programmes about plane crashes.

You know, you somehow you, you know, you're drawn into this.

But you had this is an hour programme about how why this plane crashed and killed 300 people.

And it's all real time.

You've got the actors playing the pilots and then they recreate it in all this detail.

And it's, you know, it's fascinating, isn't it?

Obviously, you don't

watch one before you get in on a going on holiday.

But there are these people are fascinated with things like this.

How do we get to this point?

I don't know. I don't know either.

But but it really is people saying things

that a lot of people would object to.

So you do have to be careful.

You do have to be careful sometimes what you say.

Here's another thing that a lot of people are talking about, Steve, something that they're saying

will not exist in the future.

Well, of course, this time of year we often think of nice things.

We think of Christmas time, don't we?

Christmas is a wonderful time.

a time for getting together with all of your family,

It might not be happening for much longer.

They are talking about banning Christmas.

But this week, a certain news outlet,

a news channel, started talking about this and they were saying that

Christmas is going to be banned.

But we can assure you now

for those worried, for those who've heard this,

no one and I mean no one is going to ban Christmas.

Why would you?

Christmas is the only highlight that most people have during the year.

It sounds to me like a certain a certain presenter

of a certain news channel is trying to get some attention.

And then they put this like a newspaper.

They they print these ridiculous headlines just to get you to buy it.

There's no real substance to it.

No, it's just they're just jerking your chain as they sign down.

What?

I've never heard.

I've never heard of that.

Yeah, that should be an expression of the.

That's a that's like a euphemism.

It just just means that they're,

People who dog whistle are people who say things to attract

certain types of people to them.

So they will say things that are outrageous or maybe something that might offend a group of people.

It's often used in American politics when they're talking about people

who lean towards the right and they say things

because they want to get attention.

And quite often they will say things that are controversial.

But fake news.

There is absolutely no no truth.

And the reason why this happened, Steve, is because

the recent census

of finding out all about the population of this country,

they realise that very few people now go to church

or would call themselves religious.

So this particular news channel decided to start saying, oh, they're going to ban Christmas.

I can tell you now it's not going to happen because Christmas is good for everyone.

It gives you a chance to celebrate something.

It's also very good for the economy.

Let's face it.

This is the thing.

Christmas is, you know, in theory supposed to be a religious festival.

But in practise for a lot of people, it's just a

time to have to get family together.

And just because a lot of pagan rituals involved in Christmas.

And so it doesn't because just because

the number of people going to church Christians is going down in the UK does mean Christmas

is because I mean, we don't you know, lots of people don't believe in a religion and still celebrate.

That's it, you know.

Well, it's not about it's not about going to church.

It's about whether you feel religious at all about any religion. Yes.

But the point I'm making is you don't have to feel religious to celebrate Christmas.

And my point is that even if only half the country follow religion,

it doesn't mean Christmas is going to go, because it's it's commercial.

It's a commercial thing. Can't get away from it.

We are looking at words and phrases connected to fall.

The word fool.

It's an interesting word.

It often describes in action a certain type of action.

So the word fool is an action

quite often with something or with an object

or without an object as well.

We can use it figuratively to mean

a certain type of thing that is occurring.

So fool is an action

and its most basic form fool

an uncontrollable descent.

If you are falling from the sky.

If you are falling from a cliff.

Oh, fall

an uncontrollable descent.

I suppose you can also use the word crash as well,

but Fool actually describes the movement as you drop.

Crash normally refers to the impact,

so that is the slight difference between those two words

Fool and

Crash.

Fool and crash.

Also we can say the collapse of a structure,

something that is built, something appears to be solid,

something that is there.

It is a solid thing, but

it does not stay up, right?

Something happens to cause it to fall.

The collapse of a structure,

the building falls down.

We can also say fall.

It just falls.

So we don't have to say fall down.

We can just say fall cause the building falls

or if we are using the past tense fell.

The building falls.

The building fell in the past tense,

a sudden or sharp drop in something

if suddenly a thing drops,

it becomes lower or decreases.

We can say that it falls for.

Example, we can say a fall in the rate of crime.

So maybe the number or the amount of crime

taking place is less than it was before

a fall in the rate of crime,

or maybe a full of inflation or a fall in inflation.

So you can see that the cost of living,

Of course we can use that negatively as well.

If a person is fooled into believing something, you can say that they fall for it.

So to fall for something can also mean to be cheated as well.

Maybe you are misled or tricked into believing something

that is not true.

The process of falling and the result.

We often use those two things

in a phrase, for example fall

to one's death, fall to one's death.

So you are talking about the action and the result

fall into the sea.

So a person falls and where do they go?

Into the sea?

They fall into the sea.

So quite often we use fall to represent the process of something happening.

One thing happens is and then we talk about

what the result is of that action.

You fall,

maybe you fall

off a ladder, you fall out of a window,

you fall onto the ground.

The season of autumn is often referred to as fall.

The term is used in the US, say, for autumn.

So here we say autumn.

We don't say say fall, we don't say fall here.

However, in the United States they will often talk about fall

as autumn.

The word trip can mean fall you trip,

maybe you trip over something, maybe there is an object in front of you.

quite often in the English language.

Finally, we have some

words that we can use instead of for.

For example, we can say Drop something, drops

something, collapses,

collapse to make something fall.

Suddenly it collapses, it slowly collapses.

Or maybe it slowly falls,

plunge to drop from one height to another.

Plunge to go down very fast, very abruptly.

Plunge a diver might plunge

into the water.

They jump from the diving board

putting in between between

Josh into the water

plummet is another one plummet.

If something drops very fast

or at a very fast rate, we can say that it plummets.

To fall sharply or suddenly is plummet.

If something is going down, we can see decrease.

So maybe the value of something will decrease.

It will slowly go down, it will start to drop,

it will decrease.

And then finally we have go down.

Something drops, something falls,

something goes down.

Quite often when we're talking about the value of things, maybe the value of food

or gold or cryptocurrency,

for example, it can go down, the value

drops, the value falls.

So there you can see a few uses of the word full

and also lots of words and phrases connected to it as well.
