And here we are again we are back together  yes it is another english addict quick fix

how are you today?

I don't know what's happening to my spectacles  at the moment but they they feel so uncomfortable  

i don't know what's happened  i know i haven't damaged them  

but they feel really uncomfortable today do  you ever find that if you wear glasses you find  

sometimes your glasses might  feel uncomfortable for no reason  

i remember when i was a kid i was always breaking  my glasses quite often i would sit on them  

or drop them on the floor or sometimes  my classmates would take them off my face  

and hide them or throw them around the  classroom i was always breaking my glasses

what about you if you were wearing glasses as  a child did you break them as often as i did i  

i actually lost count of how many times i broke  my glasses when i was at school when i was a kid  

not so much nowadays but i think sometimes maybe  i i might sit on them or maybe sometimes when i'm  

lying down i might wear my glasses and keep them  on on my face so maybe that's the reason why here

how has your week been so far mine has not  been too bad we have strange weather outside

it can't decide what to do it feels as if  it's about to rain however there is no rain  

in the forecast so i can't understand  why it feels as if it's about to rain  

i was going to hang some washing out on the line  but i decided not to just in case it started  

raining and there's nothing worse and i'm sure  ladies and maybe some gentlemen as well you will  

know the problem when you wash your clothes you  want to hang them outside you have to make sure  

you pick the right day to do it because  if the weather is terrible if it rains  

especially if your clothes are almost dry and  then suddenly it rains it's quite annoying  

in fact well it is to me anyway here we are  then yes we are back together again for those

my spectacles at the start of today's live  stream they feel uncomfortable i don't know  

why i i haven't dropped them i haven't sat on  them but for some reason they feel they feel as  

if they don't fit my face properly maybe in  the night my face has got larger or smaller

do you wear glasses some people need  them all the time like me but my eyesight  

is very strange because i can't see  far away but also i can't see near  

so my vision is very weird so i have to wear  glasses for looking at things far away and then  

i have to wear glasses when i'm looking at things  that are close to me like these reading glasses  

so these allow me to see the screen in front  of me with all of my my lovely equipment  

flashing away in front of my face and of course i  can also read the live chat which is in very small  

writing it's it's really embarrassing can i just  say if you can't read things that are in front  

of you it is embarrassing especially when you go  into a restaurant and they give you the menu and  

the menu is in the tiniest font you've ever seen  it's almost so small it's like it's like a lot of  

ants marching across the page i can't read any  of it it's too tiny so imagine my embarrassment  

especially when i'm not wearing my reading glasses  so i don't always have my reading glasses with me  

however i go for a meal and i sit down and they  give me the menu and i can't read any of it

so please if you if you are the owner of a  restaurant or a cafe can you please have a version  

of your menu with very large font for me so when  i come in i will say excuse me can i have the the  

menu with the large font i want the big writing  because i can't see very well i have i have  

difficulty seeing things that are very close to me

incredibly embarrassing you have no idea how  difficult it is to to have glasses not least of  

all because i was always picked on at school for  wearing glasses they used to call me goggle eyes  

four eyes specky spec spec spec that's  not that's not a very good one by the  

way they didn't use that very  often goggle eyes four eyes

it's hard it's hard wearing glasses trust  me i'm almost i should almost receive  

some sort of disability allowance for this  just for all of the trauma and the heartache  

and the bullying and the beatings that i've  taken over the years for for having glasses

i go into a restaurant and they give me the  menu and then suddenly i i pull out a huge  

magnifying glass how embarrassing is that no i  don't think i'll be doing that i must remember  

to take my reading glasses with me when i go  to places that's what i should be doing really  

today we're talking about home or should i say  

leaving home mr duncan you always managed  to come up with an interesting topic  

today being at home living at home and then of  course as you get older you will think about  

leaving home and the reason why i'm mentioning  this today is because i read an interesting report  

in the newspaper a couple of days ago and  it's said that children are now moving  

back in with their parents due to the high  price of renting property and the difficulty  

of getting on the property ladder what is the  property ladder well when you first buy a house  

unfortunately for most people you can't afford a  big house or a large house so you have two choices  

you can either rent a house or a small flat or  an apartment or you can try to buy a small flat  

maybe you will take a mortgage and then you pay  for the flat or the small house over many years  

i remember me and mr steve we used to live in a  small flat a very small flat when we first met

way back in the 1980s oh my goodness such a long  time ago so what is happening now many children  

are now moving back in with their parents when  we say children of course we mean young adults  

so young adults are now moving back in with their  parents due to the high price of renting property  

the market for renting property is huge now  i don't know about your country but here  

renting property has become more and  more expensive and of course it does  

vary it changes depending on your  location it depends on where you live  

and as i mentioned just also it's much  more difficult for young people to to start  

on the property ladder so maybe you you  buy a small house or a small flat and maybe  

it isn't very expensive but you agree with  the bank to to borrow some money from them  

and then you pay that money back over so many  years maybe 10 years or in some cases 20 years

but because everything has gone up in price  property many people are trying to find a  

place to live they are all trying to find  somewhere to call their home their home  

sweet home and i suppose it brings me round to the  subject the topic leaving home quite often when  

you get to a certain age maybe you live with your  family during your childhood some people don't  

and that's another interesting thing it's amazing  how many children don't live with their parents  

whilst they are studying or at school maybe they  go away to a private school and they rarely see  

their parents leaving home now i left home when  i was 24. so i was 24 years old when i officially  

said goodbye to my family not forever of course  i still saw them but leaving home a lot of people  

leave home normally and again this is  something that happens quite often quite often  

you will find teenagers maybe of school leaving  age maybe 17 or 18 perhaps they go to study  

at university and quite often the university will  be in another place another town maybe abroad  

it is not unusual nowadays for students for young  people who want to study and maybe experience a  

different way of life they they might not just  leave home they might also leave their own  

country and study abroad here in the uk we have  many many young people coming here to study in  

this country from various countries around the  world i suppose asia is one of the most popular  

places where people travel from to study here but  of course there are many others as well we have

till they become old except in some  cases there are also many joint families  

and i think this is an interesting point so i am  just talking from my point of view but i am aware  

very aware that quite often maybe in other  countries and other cultures the family unit  

will stay together so even if the children  grow up they they study they leave school  

maybe they find a job in the local area but they  will still live at home until they are much older  

or maybe until the point where they are married  but even then after they've married someone it is  

not unusual for the married couple to still live  at home and of course as the parents become older  

the children are at home to take care of the  parents i know that happens quite often in china  

in china i remember from my own experience  i i would often talk to people of all ages  

and i was quite surprised how many were  still at home or it was the other way round  

the parents or one of the parents would  come to live with the son or daughter  

who was now married so it would  also work the other way as well here  

not so often you will find certainly in western  countries such as well europe the united kingdom  

the united states you might find that young people  are very keen very eager to leave home i know i  

was i i knew that i would know when the right time  was to leave home i i always knew that i would  

i would feel when it was the right time and  for me it was the age of 24. i left home at 24.  

and i suppose it brings me round also  to a question that i can ask when did  

you leave home when did you leave home  so i'm sure many of my viewers and i know  

many of you are now adults you are no longer at  home with your parents or maybe in some cases you

i've decided to leave home i'm going to study  in another town or maybe i'm going to work

where you are allowed to leave home so we often  talk about the the age where a person is free to  

do their own thing here in this country it's 18.  so we often see the age of 18 as the time when you  

can actually do your own things you are free of  your family you can walk out and live somewhere  

else so here it it is normally 18. i think in the  usa i think it's 21. so i think the age where you

and many phrases we can use to describe the action  of leaving home for example well here is the most  

basic one you leave home you leave home you decide  that the time is right you you might have a job  

if you are lucky if you are maybe 18 or 20  or maybe 24 you might have a job that takes  

you away from your family uh also you might have a  relationship as well so maybe you meet someone and  

they live in another place another town or city  or country and you decide to go and live with them

their life becomes quite empty and they have no  purpose so the empty nest syndrome can affect  

a lot of adults especially when their children  leave home it is a difficult thing to deal with

professionally yes your destiny your  the course that your life follows  

might take you away from your family anyway  you might have no choice so maybe you want to

wish they could stay with their parents for much  longer but they have to leave because they have

wonderful person and i suppose that is another  reason for leaving home finding a partner  

is there a correct age to start dating or finding  a person that you want to spend the rest of your  

life with from my own point of view maybe the  answer is no i don't think there is a right age  

some people fall in love when they are still at  school and they become sweethearts for many years  

and maybe eventually they decide to stay together  maybe they get married or maybe they just live  

together as a couple some people have to wait  and quite a number of years before they find  

another person before they discover their true  love maybe they have several relationships  

before they find the right person so it can take a  long time to find mr right or or miss right it can

i think i think part of the excitement is is that  feeling of adventure because once you leave home

technology that allows us to to stay in touch so  yes i would say that modern devices mobile phones  

computers allow us to keep in touch with our  family anyway so i would say nowadays it is almost  

as if you are still at home especially if you talk  to your family every day on your computer device

ah anarchy another very good point it is almost  impossible to mature maturing is almost impossible  

whilst living with your parents i think that is a  very good point i think it's hard to grow up when  

you are still living at home you can be you can  become infantile it's almost as if i want to say  

something but i think it might be offensive it's  almost as if you still want to hold your mother

and breastfeed from her it's it's it's  the bond that may be difficult to break

ten new words so perhaps today you have learnt  some new words from me or maybe some new phrases i
