You may have heard on the news that things here in

England are getting a little bit breezy, as you can see

right now outside.

Yes, it is windy.

I thought I would come on for a short time

just to show you how bad things are at the moment.

Coming to you live from England right now, the U.K.

and especially the south east and south west of England

is being battered by a very strong gale

a strong wind, if you will,

with gusts of up to 80

and even 100 miles an hour.

In some parts of the country.

So some areas are going to get a lot of wind.

Let's just say

It's a windy day, as you may have noticed.

It's a pretty good one to use, especially when you look out the window and you see this

so there it is outside right now.

Storm Eunice is now battering

the UK and across England, especially the south of England.

It is pretty bad, to say the least.

And there you can see right now outside the view

I would say at the moment, the winds are around

70, maybe 75 miles an hour.

And that is the view right now outside

my studio window as we are

receiving quite a lot of wind

and not the type of wind that I normally have.

If I was honest, there is another view.

So you can see how strong everything is today.

they've had a lot of snow and still more snow has been falling.

Also, lots of rain in many parts of the world.

And if you were watching the news over the past couple of days,

you would have seen the terrible pictures coming out of Brazil.

Where the prolonged rain has caused

a very large landslide in one particular area.

And to be honest with you, I don't know why.

One of the strange things about this sort of weather

is you quite often find people going outside to do news reports

whilst telling everyone not to go outside,

which I find rather odd.

So a lot of people this morning on TV telling us

whilst standing outside in the wind

and the rain whilst putting their lives at risk, telling other people not to go outside

and put their lives at risk, Very strange when you think about it.

Well, it's a little bit chilly, I will be honest with you.

Although the wind is not really cold, but it is chilly.

I would say.

But we are having strong wind today.

Normally I have to suffer, Mr.

But today it is a very different type of wind.

It isn't dust. It's just haze.

Because I'm filming through one of my windows

and pointing it outside.

So you might see a little bit of mist

But you can see that we have a lot of wind.

It's very windy outside and no before anyone asks.

I think that's the most dramatic picture that I have at the moment on my camera.

So I have all of my cameras pointed outside.

And yes, you can see it is rather windy, of course, living around here.

One of the

big problems with living around here is we do

get a lot of strong winds.

And also we live in an area that has lots of trees.

So there are certain areas that you do not want to go near,

especially near to where I live, where where

there are lots of trees and forests.

So you will not

find many people outside

today around here because to be honest with you, it's too dangerous.

You might actually find that a tree

might fall or a piece of tree might fall.

And it is true that many people are injured or even killed

during this sort of weather.

So I think I think the best thing

definitely is to stay indoors

stay in the house, which is what I'm doing.

So don't worry, I'm not going outside.

But you can see right now we are having a lot of wind.

Another delve into the wonderful world

of English is about to take place.

Yep. The wind is about to get up.

So prepare to be blown away.

As you can see right now, it is very windy here.

There is a gale blowing across England

and what you are seeing now is the effect to

what is left of a tropical hurricane.

This is all the remains of the storm.

We can describe this as the remnants

or all the remains of the hurricane.

A few days ago.

This storm was very powerful.

It caused damage in places such as Bermuda.

Now it is not as powerful.

Having said that, the storm is still strong enough

to bring down trees and loosen one or two roof tiles.

Some might say that I'm taking a risk

coming out here on such a stormy day.

Let's hope that I don't get struck by a piece

of flying debris or a falling tree

So there was I found this

and here it is now live outside.

So there is the view at the moment.

And yes, you were right.

It was my full English lesson number four,

where I was outside in the wind.

But then now this is not recorded.

This is now live outside and yes, it is rather windy.

This is Storm Yunis for those wondering

what the name of the storm is Over recent years,

we have started naming storms

and that's the reason why we do it,

so we can tell the difference

between each individual storm.

So for many years, I think across the United States, quite often

they will give their cyclones or tropical storms, they will give them names.

And now we do the same thing here in Europe as well.

We give them tropical storm names.

So in this particular case, we are calling this one storm.

Eunice And there you can see Storm Eunice

right now battering the UK.

For those wondering where I am,

I am actually in a place called Much Wenlock, which is in Shropshire, not very far away from Wales.

And yes, this is a live view right now

at 2:17 o'clock.

You might also notice there were some birds trying to fly

but they're not doing a very good job.

So that is the view at the moment.

You might also be able to hear

the sound of the wind blowing past my studio window

and I've just been

checking the news and apparently already

there has been a victim of

the storm

a casualty.

Uh, it's.

Apparently it's the Millennium Dome now.

I still call it the Millennium Dome because I do.

I often do. You say because I'm old.

So I remember when the, the O2 Arena, which is what it's called now.

It used to be called the Millennium Dome

because that's when it was built and opened.

So apparently that is the first casualty

coming through on Twitter at the moment.

The first major or well known

landmark to be affected by the storm

the O2 Arena apparently has been damaged slightly.

It doesn't look too drastic,

but apparently they're saying that that has already been

damaged.

Apparently, Vitesse says,

I received a personal warning

from the authorities because of the storm,

and that is in Lithuania.

That's incredible.

So it looks as if this storm

is going to continue on its journey

and it is going to stay quite strong.

And a lot of people are receiving warnings about it.

So that is what is happening at the back of the house.

You can see the trees.

These particular trees are really big.

They are very tall trees.

And you can see they are swinging around.

And already I've noticed that one or two

branches have already broken off.

So I can already see that some branches

have fallen or are hanging

waiting to drop.

It is nice to see some of my regular viewers

that I haven't seen for a long time joining me today.

So this is something a little different.

I thought I would come on for a while and show you

the dramatic pictures

that are just outside my window

as Storm Eunice comes across.

Apparently, the worst affected areas are on the south, east

and southwest coast

where the gusts are actually supposed

to be around 100 miles an hour.

Some of the strongest winds that we've had here

across England for many, many years.

Of course, we do get strong

wind at this time of year, especially around springtime.

So it is possible to get quite strong wind,

quite violent storms.

I suppose that's another way of describing this particular weather event.

So things that happen

connected to the weather, we often call them weather events.

They are things that happen.

So the word event is often used to show that something is occurring.

A thing that begins and ends

is an event event.

So that word is often used when we are talking about the weather.

Of course, there are many words we can use when we are

describing the effects of the wind.

We can say that the wind blows, the wind is blowing.

We can say that the wind is blowing strongly.

Perhaps we can use the word gust.

The word gust means strong and sudden wind.

That seems to appear from nowhere.

And you can see behind me, look at that.

Those trees are already swinging

At the moment, I don't

know why I sound so excited by it because I shouldn't be really.

So there it is behind me, Storm Eunice and also

there it is again, looking out of the window

Quite dramatic scenes right now here in

England.

We will stay with this for a little bit longer.

The news also reporting that there are gusts of around

80 or 90 miles an hour in certain parts of the country.

So that is here at the moment.

And look at those trees.

Oh, my goodness.

In fact, if I feed myself out,

if I take myself away from the picture,

oh, that's better.

We can see it now. Mr. Duncan.

So there is the view at the moment

and I would imagine

that some of those trees are going to be lying on the ground

by the end of this storm.

I think so.

That is quite dramatic.

Even even I am distracted

by that sight.

I will be honest with you.

That is rather dramatic.

And also

So at the moment,

we are

experiencing.

Apparently it's yes, it's around 70 miles an hour at the moment.

The wind here in Shropshire is quite

strong.

In fact, we can use the word blow in many different ways.

If you blow something,

maybe you blow someone's plan

or you blow someone's surprise.

It means that you have spoilt it.

You blow something.

Oh, you had to go and blow my surprise.

It means that person spoilt or ruined

the surprise to blow something to.

To lose an opportunity because of a mistake.

Can also use the word blow.

You might blow your chance.

Perhaps you have a job interview to attend

but unfortunately, you get there late because you overslept,

and then you got you don't get the job because you're not properly prepared for the interview.

And sadly, you don't get the job.

You might say that you blew your chances

or you have blown your chances.

So there are other ways of using the word blow

More than 100 people died, and many are missing after the floods and landslides.

I would call extreme weather conditions.

They are being described as

However, however, certain parts of the world

are getting more snow than usual.

I also mentioned to Japan, which is getting a lot of snow,

certain parts of the world I believe New Zealand

is having one of the hottest summers

ever.

I think they're having some of the hottest temperatures or highest temperatures

ever that they've ever had in history, recorded history.

Quite amazing.

Is that a phrase you you don't normally blow your back out?

No, we don't normally say that if you injure your back

whilst doing some work, I think I know what you mean by that.

Yes. If you are doing some work, maybe you are trying to lift

something up, you don't blow your back

but you can you can injure your back.

Or we often say that you put your back out,

you put your back out.

Maybe you are trying to lift something up.

Maybe you are trying to move something that's very heavy.

We can say that you put your back out,

you injure your back.

Nothing too serious.

But normally if you if you put your back out,

it means you have to take a little bit of rest

or maybe you have to have some sort of therapy as well.

Some sort of therapy to to to repair your injured back.

So, no, we don't normally say

blow your back out

although there are other ways of using the word below.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks

as if the wind is actually easing off

uh, so maybe,

maybe the worst of the storm is now passing.

But it does seem to be

a little calmer than it was earlier on.

It definitely seems to be calming down outside

So maybe that's it.

Maybe that's the worst of the storm.

Maybe it is now passing over and heading somewhere else.

Of course, my only wish is that

no one has been seriously injured.

There might be some damage to buildings because of falling trees,

but hopefully

hopefully there will be very little loss of life.

Hopefully we all keep our fingers crossed for that.

But if a person is really trying

to make you believe that something is true,

especially something that a person has done in the past,

but in fact they didn't, they are actually lying about it.

all the birds have to stay hidden away because they don't want to get injured.

It's very difficult to fly.

It's too windy for them to fly, so they will stay hidden away

but unfortunately they won't be able to eat,

which is not very nice when you think about it.
