There are many ways of expressing action in English.

هناك طرق عديدة للتعبير عن الفعل باللغة الإنجليزية.

We can state a moment when something is happening, using different statements to express the thing that is making it happen.

يمكننا أن نذكر اللحظة التي يحدث فيها شيء ما، باستخدام عبارات مختلفة للتعبير عن الشيء الذي يؤدي إلى حدوث ذلك.

The movement that can be seen, the moment it occurs, the way it is happening, and the reason it is occurring.

الحركة التي يمكن رؤيتها لحظة حدوثها وطريقة حدوثها وسبب حدوثها.

Put simply; we are stating

ببساطة؛ نحن نذكر

who, what, when, how and why.

من وماذا ومتى وكيف ولماذا.

First we will look at ‘who’ In this statement we are stating the identity of the main thing involved.

أولاً سننظر إلى "من" في هذا البيان نذكر هوية الشيء الرئيسي المعني.

This can be one thing or many things.

يمكن أن يكون هذا شيئًا واحدًا أو أشياء كثيرة.

One person or many people.

شخص واحد أو عدة أشخاص.

A single object or many objects.

كائن واحد أو العديد من الكائنات.

In this example, we will look at ‘who’. A person is involved.

في هذا المثال، سننظر إلى "من". شخص متورط.

The action involves a person.

العمل ينطوي على شخص.

Human actions without identity will always use ‘who’ or ‘whom’.

الأفعال البشرية بدون هوية ستستخدم دائمًا "من" أو "من".

If the main thing involved is an object, then we will say ‘what’.

إذا كان الشيء الرئيسي المعني هو شيء ما، فسنقول "ماذا".

‘Who did that?’ or ‘what did that?’

"من فعل ذلك؟" أو "ماذا فعل ذلك؟"

“Who stole my bike?” “What made that noise?”

"من سرق دراجتي؟" "ما الذي أحدث هذا الضجيج؟"

We will often use these in the form of a question, asking for the identity of a person or commenting on someone generally will also use ‘who’ as the subject.

غالبًا ما نستخدمها في شكل سؤال، أو السؤال عن هوية الشخص أو التعليق على شخص ما بشكل عام سوف نستخدم أيضًا "من" كموضوع.

“Who is that?” “I don't know who they are.”

"من ذاك؟" "أنا لا أعرف من هم."

When relating an action or asking about the identity of the cause, we will say ‘who’ if it is a person and ‘what’ if it is anything else?

عند ربط فعل ما أو السؤال عن هوية السبب، نقول "من" إذا كان شخصًا، و"ماذا" إذا كان أي شيء آخر؟

It is worth remembering that ‘what’ also relates to the actual occurrence.

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن "ما" يتعلق أيضًا بالحدث الفعلي.

As a question put forward... “what is going on?”

كسؤال مطروح... "ماذا يحدث؟"

“What do you want me to do?”

"ماذا تريد مني أن أفعل؟"

In this sense, we are stating ‘what’ as the occurrence itself,

وبهذا المعنى، فإننا نذكر "ماذا" باعتباره الحدث نفسه،

The thing done, the thing being done or the thing that will be done,

فالشيء الذي تم القيام به، أو الشيء الذي يتم القيام به، أو الشيء الذي سيتم القيام به،

all refer to ‘what’.

كلها تشير إلى "ماذا".

Next we have ‘when’.

التالي لدينا "متى".

This relates to time. It is easy to state when something did happen, is happening or will happen.

وهذا يتعلق بالوقت. من السهل تحديد متى حدث شيء ما أو يحدث أو سيحدث.

“I will see you when you get home.”

"سوف أراك عندما تعود إلى المنزل."

One thing might happen when something else occurs.

قد يحدث شيء واحد عندما يحدث شيء آخر.

“I will clean the car when the rain stops.”

"سأقوم بتنظيف السيارة عندما يتوقف المطر."

When relates to the moment or the time when the thing occurs.

عندما يتعلق الأمر باللحظة أو الوقت الذي يحدث فيه الشيء.

As a question we will often use ‘when’ whilst asking about a planned event

كسؤال، غالبًا ما نستخدم "متى" أثناء السؤال عن حدث مخطط له

or when seeking information concerning the moment of an event taking place.

أو عند البحث عن معلومات تتعلق بلحظة وقوع الحدث.

“When will the party start?”

"متى سيبدأ الحفل؟"

“When did the robbery take place?”

"متى حدثت السرقة؟"

Next we will look at 'how',

بعد ذلك، سننظر إلى "كيف"،

in this case, we are looking at the method or the way in which something will be done is being done or was done.

في هذه الحالة، نحن ننظر إلى الطريقة أو الطريقة التي سيتم بها القيام بشيء ما أو القيام به.

We often explain the method of something using how.

كثيرا ما نشرح طريقة شيء ما باستخدام كيف.

“This is how you tie a knot”.

“This is how you make bread.”

As a question, you might ask how.

كسؤال، قد تسأل كيف.

When unsure of the method of doing something, “How do I turn on the computer?”

عندما لا تكون متأكدًا من طريقة القيام بشيء ما، "كيف أقوم بتشغيل الكمبيوتر؟"

“How do I get to your house?”

"كيف أصل إلى منزلك؟"

We might also use how, when trying to find out the way in which a person was able to do something.

قد نستخدم أيضًا "كيف" عندما نحاول اكتشاف الطريقة التي تمكن بها الشخص من القيام بشيء ما.

As a shocked reaction, you might say, “How could you do that?”

كرد فعل صادم، قد تقول: "كيف يمكنك أن تفعل ذلك؟"

“How could you steal money from your own mother?”

"كيف يمكنك سرقة المال من والدتك؟"

This is often said in shock and disbelief.

كثيرا ما يقال هذا في حالة من الصدمة وعدم التصديق.

Finally, we have the small word with the big question.

وأخيرا، لدينا الكلمة الصغيرة مع السؤال الكبير.

The word is ‘why’. We often use ‘why’ as an interrogative statement when trying to find the reason for something occurring.

الكلمة هي "لماذا". غالبًا ما نستخدم "لماذا" كعبارة استفهام عندما نحاول العثور على سبب حدوث شيء ما.

“Why did it happen?”

"لماذا حدث ذلك؟"

“Why did you steal my wallet?”

"لماذا سرقت محفظتي؟"

“Why did you lie to me?”

We can ask for the reason and we can state the reason.

يمكننا أن نسأل عن السبب ونستطيع أن نذكر السبب.

“I love spending time with you, that is why I enjoy working here.”

"أنا أحب قضاء الوقت معك، ولهذا السبب أستمتع بالعمل هنا."

‘Why’ is always the reason.

"لماذا" هو السبب دائمًا.

Whether it is put forward as a question or stated as an explanation in the form of a reply.

سواء تم طرحه على شكل سؤال أو ذكره على شكل توضيح في شكل رد.

Remember... ‘Who’ relates to identity.

تذكر... "من" يتعلق بالهوية.

‘What’ relates to the occurrence. ‘When’ relates to time.

"ما" يتعلق بالحدث. "متى" يتعلق بالوقت.

‘How’ relates to the method.

"كيف" تتعلق بالطريقة.

‘Why’ relates to the reason.

"لماذا" يتعلق بالسبب.
