Expressing - WHO, WHAT, WHEN, HOW, WHY in the English language. Learn English (Mr Duncan) LESSON 15

There are many ways of expressing action in English.

영어로 행동을 표현하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있습니다.

We can state a moment when something is happening, using different statements to express the thing that is making it happen.

우리는 어떤 일이 일어나고 있는 순간을 말할 수 있으며, 그 일이 일어나는 일을 표현하기 위해 다양한 진술을 사용할 수 있습니다.

The movement that can be seen, the moment it occurs, the way it is happening, and the reason it is occurring.

눈에 보이는 움직임, 그것이 일어나는 순간, 일어나는 방식, 일어나는 이유.

Put simply; we are stating

간단히 말해서; 우리는

who, what, when, how and why.

누가, 무엇을, 언제, 어떻게, 왜를 말하고 있습니다 .

First we will look at ‘who’ In this statement we are stating the identity of the main thing involved.

먼저 우리는 '누구'를 살펴볼 것입니다. 이 진술에서 우리는 관련된 주요 사항의 신원을 명시하고 있습니다.

This can be one thing or many things.

이는 한 가지일 수도 있고 여러 가지일 수도 있습니다.

One person or many people.

한 사람 또는 여러 사람.

A single object or many objects.

단일 개체 또는 여러 개체.

In this example, we will look at ‘who’. A person is involved.

이번 예문에서는 '누구'에 대해 살펴보겠습니다. 사람이 관련되어 있습니다.

The action involves a person.

행동에는 사람이 포함됩니다.

Human actions without identity will always use ‘who’ or ‘whom’.

정체성이 없는 인간의 행동은 항상 '누구'나 '누구'를 사용합니다.

If the main thing involved is an object, then we will say ‘what’.

관련된 주요 내용이 객체라면 '무엇'이라고 말할 것입니다.

‘Who did that?’ or ‘what did that?’

'누가 그랬어?' 또는 '그게 뭐였지?'

“Who stole my bike?” “What made that noise?”

“누가 내 자전거를 훔쳤나요?” “무슨 소리가 났나요?”

We will often use these in the form of a question, asking for the identity of a person or commenting on someone generally will also use ‘who’ as the subject.

우리는 종종 이것을 질문의 형태로 사용하며, 사람의 신원을 묻거나 누군가에 대해 논평할 때 일반적으로 'who'를 주어로 사용합니다.

“Who is that?” “I don't know who they are.”

“저 사람은 누구예요?” “그들이 누구인지 모르겠어요.”

When relating an action or asking about the identity of the cause, we will say ‘who’ if it is a person and ‘what’ if it is anything else?

행동을 연관시키거나 원인이 무엇인지 물을 때, 그것이 사람이라면 '누구'라고 말하고, 그 외의 것이라면 '무엇'이라고 말할 것입니까?

It is worth remembering that ‘what’ also relates to the actual occurrence.

'무엇'이 실제 사건과도 연관되어 있다는 점을 기억해둘 필요가 있다.

As a question put forward... “what is going on?”

질문이 제시된 것처럼... "무슨 일이 일어나고 있는 거죠?"

“What do you want me to do?”

“내가 무엇을 하기를 바라나요?”

In this sense, we are stating ‘what’ as the occurrence itself,

이런 의미에서 우리는 '무엇'을 발생 자체로 언급하고 있습니다.

The thing done, the thing being done or the thing that will be done,

완료된 일, 완료된 일 또는 완료될 일은

all refer to ‘what’.

모두 '무엇'을 나타냅니다.

Next we have ‘when’.

다음은 '언제'입니다.

This relates to time. It is easy to state when something did happen, is happening or will happen.

이는 시간과 관련이 있습니다. 어떤 일이 언제 일어났는지, 일어나고 있는지, 일어날 것인지를 말하기는 쉽습니다.

“I will see you when you get home.”

“집에 오면 보자.”

One thing might happen when something else occurs.

다른 일이 발생하면 한 가지 일이 발생할 수도 있습니다.

“I will clean the car when the rain stops.”

“비가 그치면 차를 청소하겠습니다.”

When relates to the moment or the time when the thing occurs.

어떤 일이 일어나는 순간이나 시간과 관련될 때.

As a question we will often use ‘when’ whilst asking about a planned event

질문으로 우리는 계획된 이벤트에 대해 물을 때나

or when seeking information concerning the moment of an event taking place.

이벤트가 발생하는 순간에 관한 정보를 찾을 때 '언제'를 자주 사용합니다.

“When will the party start?”

“파티는 언제 시작하나요?”

“When did the robbery take place?”

“강도 사건은 언제 일어났나요?”

Next we will look at 'how',

다음으로 '어떻게'를 살펴보겠습니다.

in this case, we are looking at the method or the way in which something will be done is being done or was done.

이 경우에는 어떤 일이 수행될 방법이나 방식이 수행되고 있거나 수행되었음을 살펴보겠습니다.

We often explain the method of something using how.

우리는 종종 방법을 사용하여 어떤 것의 방법을 설명합니다.

“This is how you tie a knot”.

"매듭을 묶는 방법은 다음과 같습니다."

“This is how you make bread.”

“빵은 이렇게 만드세요.”

As a question, you might ask how.

질문으로 방법을 물을 수도 있습니다.

When unsure of the method of doing something, “How do I turn on the computer?”

어떤 일을 하는 방법이 확실하지 않을 때 “컴퓨터를 어떻게 켜나요?”

“How do I get to your house?”

“너희 집까지 어떻게 가는데?”

We might also use how, when trying to find out the way in which a person was able to do something.

사람이 어떤 일을 할 수 있었던 방식을 알아내려고 할 때 How를 사용할 수도 있습니다.

As a shocked reaction, you might say, “How could you do that?”

충격을 받은 반응으로 “어떻게 그럴 수가 있지?”라고 말할 수도 있습니다.

“How could you steal money from your own mother?”

“네가 어떻게 네 어머니의 돈을 훔칠 수 있었느냐?”

This is often said in shock and disbelief.

이것은 종종 충격과 불신 속에서 말해진다.

Finally, we have the small word with the big question.

마지막으로, 우리는 큰 질문과 함께 작은 단어를 갖게 되었습니다.

The word is ‘why’. We often use ‘why’ as an interrogative statement when trying to find the reason for something occurring.

그 단어는 '왜'이다. 우리는 어떤 일이 일어난 이유를 찾으려고 할 때 의문문으로 '왜'를 자주 사용합니다.

“Why did it happen?”

“왜 그런 일이 일어났나요?”

“Why did you steal my wallet?”

“Why did you lie to me?”

“왜 나한테 거짓말을 했어요?”

We can ask for the reason and we can state the reason.

우리는 이유를 물을 수 있고 그 이유를 말할 수도 있습니다.

“I love spending time with you, that is why I enjoy working here.”

"나는 당신과 함께 시간을 보내는 것을 좋아합니다. 그래서 여기서 일하는 것이 즐겁습니다."

‘Why’ is always the reason.

'왜'는 항상 이유이다.

Whether it is put forward as a question or stated as an explanation in the form of a reply.

질문으로 제시되거나 답변 형식의 설명으로 명시됩니다.

Remember... ‘Who’ relates to identity.

기억하세요... '누구'는 정체성과 관련이 있습니다.

‘What’ relates to the occurrence. ‘When’ relates to time.

'무엇'은 사건과 관련이 있습니다. '언제'는 시간과 관련이 있습니다.

‘How’ relates to the method.

'어떻게'는 방법과 관련이 있습니다.

‘Why’ relates to the reason.

'왜'는 이유와 관련이 있습니다.
