시작합니다!

The first time I laid eyes on Mitchy Dufresne,

Mitchy Dufresne을 처음 보았을 때

I didn’t think highly of him.  

나는 그를 높이 평가하지 않았습니다.

He was a strange drink of water,

그는 이상한 물을 마시는 사람이었고,

came across like a stiff  breeze would take him out.

A month would go by before Mitchy even gathered up

As it turned out, that somebody was me.

He was asking around for some  items that would fill up his days.

He said to look out for a rock hammer.

He said it was for carving a  sophisticated board game from stone

and for also not tunnelling his way out of here.

하고 여기에서 터널을 뚫지 않기 위해서라고 말했습니다.

He then asked if I could come up with a way to get

그런 다음 그는

a 1969’s “Easy Rider” poster.

1969년의 "Easy Rider" 포스터를 얻을 수 있는 방법을 생각해 낼 수 있는지 물었습니다.

Needless to say, I was happy to look into both.

Mitchy got along with the  warden and managed to fall into

a cushty job cleaning and  arranging the wardens office.

I couldn’t work out to this day  what that lady was singing about.

나는 오늘까지도 그 여자가 무엇에 대해 노래하는지 알 수 없었다.

Truth is, I don’t want to know.

진실은 알고 싶지 않습니다.

Some things are better left unsaid.

어떤 말은 안 얘기 하는게 좋아.

I’d like to think they were singing  about something so beautiful,

it can’t expressed in words,

말로 표현할 수 없을 만큼 아름다워서

it cheers you up and makes  your heart ache because of it.

힘이 나고 마음이 아프다는 것을 노래하고 있지 않았나 싶습니다.

I tell you, that voice soared higher and farther

그 목소리는

than anybody in a grey place dares to dream.

잿빛 장소에서 감히 꿈꿀 수 없는 것보다 더 높고 멀리 치솟았습니다.

Mitchy Dufresne sat back  and for the briefest moment,

미치 듀프레인(Mitchy Dufresne)은 편안히 앉았고 가장 짧은 순간 그를 포함하여

every last man in Shawshank,  including him, felt free.

쇼생크의 모든 마지막 사람이 자유를 느꼈습니다.

I managed to see to Mitchy’s requests.

Mitchy의 요청을 확인했습니다.

One rock hammer, I could not get  over how small that thing was.

락 해머 하나, 그게 얼마나 작은지 감당할 수 없었습니다.

And I did come across a 1969 “Easy Rider” poster.

그리고 나는 1969년의 "Easy Rider" 포스터를 우연히 발견했습니다.

I told him to watch out in case  the warden caught him with it

나는 그에게 소장이 그것을

‘cos he’d throw it away and then  probably take down the poster,

but it never happened.

Mitchy carved his game in front  of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper

That time in Shawshank changed ol’ Mitchy.

He later told me he had to either go on or give up

I had switched off by then, but  that was the last time I saw Mitchy.

Inspection!

점검!

Mitchy never turned up that morning,  much to the wardens discontent.

Mitchy는 그날 아침에 나타나지 않았으며, 소장은 불만이 많았습니다.

That cell was cleaned up top  to bottom, it didn’t add up.

그 감방은 위에서 아래로 정리되었고 합산되지 않았습니다.

And the only thing left over; “Easy Rider”.

그리고 남은 유일한 것; "이지 라이더".

The warden threw Mitchy’s game  and then instantly switched on

소장은 Mitchy의 게임을 던진 다음 즉시

as to what had happened.

무슨 일이 있었는지에 대해 이야기했습니다.

What the warden figured  out is that Mitchy Dufresne

소장이 알아 낸 것은 Mitchy Dufresne이 전날 밤

had broken out of Shawshank  prison the night before.

Shawshank 교도소에서 탈옥했다는 것입니다 .

Mitchy had crawled to freedom  through miles of s**t smelling

Mitchy는

foulness I can’t even imagine,  or maybe I just don’t want to.

내가 상상조차 할 수 없거나 원하지 않는 것일 수도 있습니다.

Mitchy Dufresne,

Mitchy Dufresne,

the man who crawled through a river of s**t

s**t의 강을 기어서

and ended up clean on the other side.

건너편에서 깨끗이 된 남자.

Why he chose curry night, I will never know.

그가 카레의 밤을 선택한 이유는 결코 알 수 없습니다.
