Phrasal Verbs - SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION PARODY | Easy English 92

Hello, welcome to Easy English.

So today, I'm going to show you 35 phrasal verbs

in the following short film, if  you want to know the definitions

Here we go!

The first time I laid eyes on Mitchy Dufresne,

I didn’t think highly of him.  

He was a strange drink of water,

came across like a stiff  breeze would take him out.

A month would go by before Mitchy even gathered up

two words to somebody.

As it turned out, that somebody was me.

He was asking around for some  items that would fill up his days.

He said to look out for a rock hammer.

He said it was for carving a  sophisticated board game from stone

and for also not tunnelling his way out of here.

He then asked if I could come up with a way to get

a 1969’s “Easy Rider” poster.

Needless to say, I was happy to look into both.

Mitchy got along with the  warden and managed to fall into

a cushty job cleaning and  arranging the wardens office.

I couldn’t work out to this day  what that lady was singing about.

Truth is, I don’t want to know.

Some things are better left unsaid.

I’d like to think they were singing  about something so beautiful,

it can’t expressed in words,

it cheers you up and makes  your heart ache because of it.

I tell you, that voice soared higher and farther

than anybody in a grey place dares to dream.

Mitchy Dufresne sat back  and for the briefest moment,

every last man in Shawshank,  including him, felt free.

I managed to see to Mitchy’s requests.

One rock hammer, I could not get  over how small that thing was.

And I did come across a 1969 “Easy Rider” poster.

I told him to watch out in case  the warden caught him with it

‘cos he’d throw it away and then  probably take down the poster,

but it never happened.

Mitchy carved his game in front  of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper

for 25 years.

That time in Shawshank changed ol’ Mitchy.

He later told me he had to either go on or give up

and he was checking out.

He said to look after the other guys

and that he was gonna end up in some place;

Zihuatanejo.

I had switched off by then, but  that was the last time I saw Mitchy.

Inspection!

Mitchy never turned up that morning,  much to the wardens discontent.

That cell was cleaned up top  to bottom, it didn’t add up.

And the only thing left over; “Easy Rider”.

The warden threw Mitchy’s game  and then instantly switched on

as to what had happened.

What the warden figured  out is that Mitchy Dufresne

had broken out of Shawshank  prison the night before.

Mitchy had crawled to freedom  through miles of s**t smelling

foulness I can’t even imagine,  or maybe I just don’t want to.

Mitchy Dufresne,

the man who crawled through a river of s**t

and ended up clean on the other side.

Why he chose curry night, I will never know.
