So, I'm Peruvian, I live in Panama City.

I work for a company that manufacture products in the U.S.,

so I have to constantly write emails

or talk with my colleagues in the U.S.

And we also buy and sell products

from other parts of the world,

so there are a lot of communications involved.

Our manuals are in English,

so for me is very, very important to do it right.

So you've got that opportunity to use your English everyday,

so what was it that you felt,

Okay, so I realized that it's not enough

Okay yeah, it's like you were in these kinds of situations

where you understood what they said,

you had even formulated it in your head,

but then it just didn't come out, basically.

Yes, I remember feeling ready to say what I want to say,

and when I tried to say it out loud,

my voice sound weird and I feel shy,

ma voix sonnait bizarre et je me sentais timide,

so I think nobody understood me,

and I wanted to take the bull from the horns, right,

and master that and feeling comfortable doing it.

So, definitely feeling more comfortable

talking to strange people or people I never met before,

Faster Fluency Club was very good at that point,

so I feel that my hearing is more trained

to get new accents right.

Yeah, 'cause in the Fluency Club

you have people from all over the world

tu as des gens du monde entier

and you have to get used to hearing their different accents

et tu dois t'habituer à entendre leurs différents accents

and their different ways of speaking English,

et leurs différentes façons de parler anglais,

and I think that's kind of like in the real world,

et je pense que c'est un peu comme dans le monde réel,

because you can work with native speakers

parce que tu peux travailler avec des locuteurs natifs

or people of other nationalities,

ou des personnes d'autres nationalités,

and you have to learn to communicate with them, yeah.

What else, pronunciation,

I have to speak in our sessions,

we have to talk more frequently,

finding new words also.

Yeah, are you talking about the group coaching sessions?

Yeah, the group coaching sessions, yeah.

And the private sessions too.

Mm, yeah.

Mm, ouais.

And I know I even noticed

that when I'm listening a song in English,

I understand more quickly the lyrics.

That wasn't something I wanted to do, but.

but it's a nice result, yeah. Yes yes, aha.

And I finally said, "Hey, this works."

You know, I'm kind of the same way,

I like to learn languages,

but whenever I'm listening to a song,

if I can catch an expression, I'm like,

"Hey, I got that."

And then I like to sing it,

because I know what they're saying,

and I get very excited about that.

Now, before you joined the program,

if you can remember back three months ago,

I think the big questions was,

is my level of English enough for joining the program,

and the whole feeling comfortable,

and am I going to really, really use it,

or is it going to be good for me.

If I feel my level of English is not good enough.

And I think that it doesn't matter,

it doesn't matter at all, you have to just do it.

Sure, you have to work a lot, do the homework,

C'est sûr, il faut beaucoup travailler, faire les devoirs,

or prepare yourself before the sessions and everything,

ou se préparer avant les séances et tout,

but that's normal, right,

mais c'est normal, hein,

you have to do it. Yeah, exactly.

il faut le faire. Oui exactement.

It's like everything, if you wanna make a change,

C'est comme tout, si tu veux faire un changement,

or you wanna make some sort of improvement,

ou si tu veux faire une sorte d'amélioration,

you can have all the motivation in the world,

tu peux avoir toute la motivation du monde,

but if you don't do it, nothing is gonna change.

mais si tu ne le fais pas, rien ne changera.

And I think that's, I don't know,

Et je pense que c'est, je ne sais pas,

and you can tell me what you think as a student,

et vous pouvez me dire ce que vous pensez en tant qu'étudiant,

but when we put the program together, we were like,

what can we create that's going to give the students

lots of opportunities to practice, to prepare things,

to do homework, so that it's quite structured in fact,

and that you get enough different opportunities

to really focus on the things that you wanna focus on,

pour vraiment vous concentrer sur les choses sur lesquelles vous voulez vous concentrer,

or to come with your questions and that kind of thing, yeah.

Oh yes, so the program have different parts.

Oh oui, donc le programme a différentes parties.

Oui,

and you feel that it is designed

et vous sentez qu'il est conçu

to face different kind of situations,

pour faire face à différents types de situations,

and altogether it's going to improve your English.

et dans l'ensemble, il va améliorer votre anglais.

Yeah, 'cause English is a lot of things,

Ouais, parce que l'anglais c'est beaucoup de choses,

it's grammar, it's vocabulary, it's pronunciation,

c'est la grammaire, c'est le vocabulaire, c'est la prononciation,

it's communication skills,

c'est les compétences en communication,

and you gotta do all of it, so yeah.

et tu dois tout faire, alors oui.

And it's never going to end,

Et ça ne finira jamais,

it's not like you are going to, or at least for me,

ce n'est pas comme toi , ou du moins pour moi,

I know that I have to keep studying English,

je sais que je dois continuer à étudier l'anglais

and practicing, forever, right.

et à pratiquer, pour toujours, d'accord.

Yeah, it's not one of those things where it's like,

Ouais, ce n'est pas une de ces choses où c'est comme,

okay, I'm finished.

d'accord, j'ai fini.

You can always, and then I mean even native speakers,

Vous pouvez toujours, et même les locuteurs natifs,

they take training on how to be good at presentations,

ils suivent une formation sur la façon d'être bon dans les présentations,

or how to be good at networking,

ou comment être bon dans le réseautage,

and it's just a never ending cycle of learning,

et c'est juste un cycle d'apprentissage sans fin,

but that's why it's fun.

mais c'est pourquoi c'est amusant.

So I guess one final question

is, for a student who is maybe looking at the program,

from pronunciation, new words, expressions, idioms,

but it's going to do it in real life,

mais ça va pour le faire dans la vraie vie,

it's going to prepare you for a real situations.

ça va te préparer à des situations réelles.

Yeah, 'cause it's real interaction,

Ouais, parce que c'est une véritable interaction,

real situations, and things like that, right.

des situations réelles et des choses comme ça, d'accord.
