Meaning of OLD MAN WINTER and MOTHER NATURE - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So guess who's back?

그래서 누가 돌아왔을까?

It was a nice month so far but old man winter has returned.

지금까지 좋은 달 이었지만 노인 겨울이 돌아 왔습니다.

In English sometimes we refer to winter as "old man winter,"

영어에서는 때때로 겨울을 "노인 겨울"이라고 부르는데,

especially when winter comes back in the spring.

특히 봄에 겨울이 돌아올 때 그렇습니다.

Usually in April we're expecting it

보통 4월에 우리는

to be a really nice month.

정말 좋은 달이 될 것으로 예상합니다.

Sometimes there's some cold days,

때때로 추운 날이 있지만

but it doesn't usually snow.

보통 눈은 내리지 않습니다.

Right now it's a little hard for you to see,

but there are a few snowflakes coming down

because old man winter has returned.

The reason we call winter old man winter in the spring

우리가 봄에 겨울노인을 겨울이라고 부르는 이유는

is because sometimes old men are mean,

때때로 노인은 심술궂거나

or what we call crotchety, or cranky, or grumpy,

괴팍하거나 괴팍하거나

and when winter comes back in April

we sometimes call winter old man winter

because the weather seems like it's a grumpy old man.

심술궂기 때문입니다. 심술 궂은 노인입니다.

So right now, old man winter has come back

그래서 바로 지금 겨울 노인이

just for a few days here in Canada,

여기 캐나다에서 며칠 동안 돌아왔습니다

hopefully for not too long.

But we also have mother nature.

그러나 우리에게는 또한 대자연이 있습니다.

I don't know know if you've heard this name before,

but we sometimes refer to the Earth as mother nature.

And sometimes mother nature is very happy,

as you can see behind me, the grass is green.

When I look at the trees, sorry you can't quite see it

but the trees have buds on them

because in the spring mother nature is very happy

and the world starts to turn green.

Sometimes though, mother nature gets very angry.

하지만 때때로 대자연은 매우 화를 냅니다.

Sometimes we have really, really bad weather

때때로 우리는 정말, 정말 나쁜 날씨를 가지고

and then when that happens, sometimes we say,

있고 그런 일이 있을 때 때때로 우리는

"Oh mother nature is not very happy today."

"아, 대자연은 오늘 별로 행복하지 않다"고 말합니다.

So anyways, old man winter is back here in my part of Canada

어쨌든 겨울 노인이 여기 캐나다로 돌아왔고

and hopefully the sun starts to shine

희망적으로 태양이 빛나기 시작

and we will soon see mother nature super happy

하고 우리는 곧 대자연이 매우 행복하여

making everything around me grow.
