Meaning of SPIT IT OUT - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So sometimes one of my kids comes up to me and they want to tell me something bad that

they've done.

Maybe they broke something in the kitchen.

And they're trying to tell me what they did, but they're kind of mumbling and so often

in English we'll say, "Come on!

Spit it out!', or, "Come on!

Just spit it out!"

And this means just tell me what you came to tell me.

So maybe you have this happen sometimes at work.

Maybe you're doing something at work and something goes wrong and you make a big mistake and

you go to your boss to tell them that you made a mistake, but you have trouble speaking

clearly, you have trouble speaking loudly and in that situation your boss might say,

"Spit it out!", or, "Come on!

Just spit it out!", or, "Just spit it out!".

And this means tell me the bad news, just stop mumbling and let me know what went wrong.
