Meaning of FRESH AIR AND A BREATH OF FRESH AIR - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So it's nice sometimes to come outside and get some fresh air.

We refer to the air outside as fresh air because it's clean and it smells good usually.

Sometimes when we're in a house we will open a window to get some fresh air or we'll open

a window to let some fresh air in, again referring to the air from outside as fresh air.

Sometimes when we're driving a car we'll roll down the window in order to get some fresh

air.

Hopefully you guys have fresh air in the countries that you live in.

I know in Canada when you are out in the country like I am there is a lot of fresh air, but

sometimes when you go to our bigger cities the air isn't so fresh.

So hopefully you can go outside and get some fresh air at some point today.

We have another phrase that uses "fresh air" and that's you can say that someone is a breath

of fresh air.

Maybe you have a friend or you know someone and when they come into a room it's like a

breath of fresh air.

That would mean that the person who comes into the room is very happy, is very joyful

and they are a breath of fresh air or they're like a breath of fresh air, you can say it

both ways.

They liven up the room.

I have a sibling, I won't say which one, one of my brothers and sisters is a breath of

fresh air whenever they walk into a room.

So that means that whatever's happening, when they walk in, everyone is happy and everyone

smiles.
