Actually vs At the moment - English In A Minute

This week we're going to look at the differences

between 'actually' and 'at the moment'.

、「実際に」と「現時点で」の違いを見ていきます。

These two phrases are often confused, so

この 2 つのフレーズはよく混同されるので

let's take a look at an example:

At the moment, I'm making this programme, but

現在、私はこのプログラムを作成していますが、

actually, I should be in a meeting.

実際には会議に参加する必要があります。

So this sentence shows both phrases

but they're actually quite different. Let's break it down.

At the moment, I'm making this programme.

現在、このプログラムを作成しています。

As you can see, I'm making this programme right now,

so 'at the moment' means 'now', or 'in the present'.

しているので、'at the moment' は '今' または '現在' を意味します。

But actually I should be in a meeting.

しかし、実際には会議に参加する必要があります。

Now, in this part of my sentence,

'actually' isn't talking about time at all.

「実際に」は時間について話しているのではありません。

'Actually' means 'in fact' or 'in reality'.

「Actually」は、「実際に」または「実際に」という意味です。

So, if you want to talk about 'now', say 'at the moment'.

したがって、「今」について話したい場合は、「現時点で」と言ってください。

But if you want to say 'in reality' say 'actually'.

At the moment I want to go and make a coffee,
