So this happened the very first time I came home to visit my

family after being in South.

남부에 온 후 처음으로 가족을 만나러 집에 왔을 때 이런 일이 일어났습니다.

So I had lived in South Korea for about a year, right?

그럼 저는 한국에서 1년 정도 살았죠?

My entire time in Korea spanned over 10 years.

제가 한국에서 보낸 시간은 10년이 넘었습니다.

But after the first year I came home to visit my family.

하지만 첫 해가 지나고 나는 가족을 만나러 집에 왔습니다.

And I got home now, I'm an early bird, so I wake up early and I go to bed early.

그리고 이제 집에 왔어요. 저는 일찍 일어나는 새 라서 일찍 일어나고 일찍 잠자리에 듭니다.

Right.

오른쪽.

So I got home and it was about three or four o'clock in the afternoon.

그래서 집에 오니 오후 3~4시쯤 됐어요.

Right.

And I was talking to my mom.

그리고 나는 엄마와 이야기를 나누었습니다.

So it must've been a little bit later, maybe.

그러니 아마도 조금 늦었을 것입니다.

A little bit earlier, maybe about one or two o'clock is about one

조금 더 일찍, 아마도 1시나 2시쯤은

or two o'clock in the afternoon.

오후 1시나 2시쯤일 겁니다.

And I was sitting on the sofa in our family's living room.

그리고 나는 우리 가족 거실 소파에 앉아 있었습니다.

And my mom was in the kitchen cooking and we were having a great conversation.

엄마는 부엌에서 요리를 하고 계셨고 우리는 즐거운 대화를 나누었습니다.

I was alert.

나는 경계했다.

I was in the conversation.

나는 대화에 참여하고 있었다.

We were going back and forth about one or two o'clock Maryland time.

우리는 메릴랜드 시간으로 1~2시쯤 왔다 갔다 하고 있었습니다.

And my mom was saying something.

그리고 엄마가 한마디 하더군요.

And then all of a sudden my eyes opened and I looked

그러다가 갑자기 눈을 뜨고 주위를 둘러보니

around And it was dark outside.

밖은 어두워졌습니다.

And I said, now, I know that I was just having a conversation with my mom.

그리고 저는 지금 막 엄마와 대화를 나누고 있었다는 것을 압니다.

The lights were off and I was by myself laying on the couch.

불이 꺼져 있었고 나는 혼자 소파에 누워 있었다.

And then my mom came downstairs.

그리고 엄마가 아래층으로 내려오셨어요.

She said, Hey baby, how are you?

그녀는 "안녕 자기야, 잘 지내?"라고 말했어요.

I said, what, what, what just happened?

내가 말했지, 뭐, 뭐야, 방금 무슨 일이 일어난 거야?

She said, Oh, we were having a conversation until you Knocked out.

그녀는 '아, 당신이 기절할 때까지 우리는 대화를 나누고 있었습니다'라고 말했습니다.

She said, Tiff, you've been asleep for about three or four hours in the middle

그녀는 '티피,

of our conversation Without any warning.

우리 대화 도중에 아무 예고도 없이 3, 4시간 정도 잠을 잤구나'라고 말했습니다. 대화

You didn't say oh, I'm tired mid conversation You close your eyes and

중에 '아 피곤하다'는 말은 안 했잖아 눈을 감으면

you were gone Normally it takes a little while to fall asleep, right?

넌 가버렸지 보통은 잠드는 데 시간이 좀 걸리잖아?

When you go to sleep.

당신이 잠에 갈 때.

No, not with jet lag.

아니요, 시차로 인한 피로가 아닙니다.

Jet lag comes in and like a sucker punch knocks you out.

시차증이 발생하고 빨판 펀치처럼 당신을 기절시킵니다.

I was knocked out immediately REM sleep.

나는 즉시 REM 수면에 빠졌습니다.

I don't snore, but I was deep, deep, deep sleep.

코를 골지는 않지만 깊고, 깊고, 깊은 잠을 잤습니다.

My mom said, I didn't have the heart to wake you up.

엄마는 ' 너를 깨울 마음이 없었다'고 말했다.

I knew you were tired.

나는 당신이 피곤하다는 것을 알았습니다.

So I let you sleep.

그래서 나는 당신을 잠들게 했습니다.

This is what happens when jet lag affects you.

시차증이 당신에게 영향을 미칠 때 일어나는 일입니다.

So be very careful.

그러니 매우 조심하세요.

If you were having an important conversation, if you are doing something

중요한 대화를 하고 있다면,

after coming back from a country far away from your own and jet lag is an issue.

멀리 떨어진 나라에서 돌아와서 무엇인가를 하고 있다면 시차로 인한 피로가 문제가 될 것입니다.

Be very careful.
