What + 'be' Verb English Questions | Basic English Grammar Course

In this video, we’re going to learn how to make questions using ‘what’ and ‘be’ verbs.

Okay. Now when we have one thing,

わかった。さて、何かを一つ持っているとき、

we have to use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

「be」動詞「is」を使わなければなりません。

“What is it?”

"それは何ですか？"

“What is it?”

“It is a watch.”

「それは時計です。」

“It is a watch.”

「それは時計です。」

It’s one thing, so I have to say ‘a’.

それは一つのことなので、「a」と言わざるを得ません。

“a watch.”

"ウォッチ。" 「それは」

I can also use the contraction for ‘it is’,

「それは」 という短縮形も使えます

“it’s”.

Okay. Now, there are two highlighters.

We use ‘are’.

We have more than one, so we have to say “are”.

複数あるので、「である」と言わなければなりません。

And we have to put an ‘s’ at the end.

そして最後に「s」を付ける必要があります。

Again, we can use a contraction for ‘they are’:

“they’re”.

Now let’s focus on pronunciation
