English Vocabulary: Pedestrian

Hi, everybody. My name is Esther. 

みなさんこんにちは。 私の名前はエスターです。

And in this video, I'm going to  talk about the word ‘pedestrian’. 

このビデオでは、 「歩行者」という言葉について話します。

Now, I think this is a really important  word for all Koreans to know because there  

さて、 韓国には歩行者が多いので、これはすべての韓国人が知っておくべき非常に重要な単語だと思います

are many pedestrians in Korea. Well, what is a pedestrian? 

。 さて、歩行者とは何ですか？

A pedestrian is somebody who is walking. They might be walking on the street. 

歩行者とは、歩いている人のことです。 彼らは通りを歩いているかもしれません。

Or on the sidewalk where all  the stores and restaurants are. 

または、すべて の店やレストランがある歩道に。

The sidewalk or pedestrians might be  crossing the street on a crosswalk. 

歩道や歩行者が 横断歩道を渡っている可能性があります。

That's the section with the white lines where you  have to go if you want to go to the other side. 

反対側に行きたい場合は、白い線で囲まれたセクションに行く必要があります 。

So let's look at these example sentences. “Don't hit the pedestrian.” 

それでは、これらの例文を見てみましょう。 「歩行者をぶつけないでください。」

Okay. So in Korea there are  

わかった。 そのため、韓国では

very many cars and drivers and they have to be  careful not to hit the people that are walking. 

非常に多くの車と運転手 がいて、歩いている人にぶつからないように注意する必要があります。

The pedestrians. So don't hit the pedestrian. 

歩行者。 だから、歩行者をぶつけないでください。

The pedestrian crosses the crosswalk. Again, the crosswalk is where the white lines are. 

歩行者が横断歩道を渡ります。 繰り返しますが、横断歩道は白線の場所です。 反対側に行きたい

You have to walk there if you  want to go to the other side. 

場合は、そこを歩かなければ なりません。

The pedestrian crosses the crosswalk. The last example is there are  

歩行者が横断歩道を渡ります。 最後の例は

many pedestrians on the sidewalk. Remember, ‘sidewalk’ is the area next to the  

、歩道に多くの歩行者がいる場合です。 「歩道」とは、歩行者が歩かなければならない通りの隣のエリアであることを覚えておいてください

street where pedestrians should walk. It's safer, right? 

。 その方が安全ですよね？

So there are many pedestrians on the sidewalk. Okay. 

そのため、歩道には多くの歩行者がいます。 わかった。

And so that's how we use ‘pedestrian’. Remember, it means somebody who's walking. 

それが私たちが「歩行者」を使用する方法です。 覚えておいてください、それは歩いている人を意味します。
