Describing Price or Cost as Affordable, Inexpensive, Expensive, Cheap | Learn English Vocabulary

সবাই কেমন আছেন. আমি ইস্টার।

And in this video, we're going to talk about  how to describe the cost or price of something. 

এবং এই ভিডিওতে,

আমরা

কোন কিছুর দাম বা মূল্য কিভাবে বর্ণনা করতে হয় সে সম্পর্কে কথা বলতে যাচ্ছি ।

Now, this is important to people  like me who like shopping, right. 

এখন, এটি আমার মতো লোকেদের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ

যারা কেনাকাটা পছন্দ করেন, ঠিক।

So, for example, I like  shopping especially for dresses. 

সুতরাং, উদাহরণস্বরূপ,

আমি বিশেষ করে পোশাকের জন্য কেনাকাটা করতে পছন্দ করি।

So I might say the cost of  this dress is affordable. 

তাই আমি বলতে পারি এই পোশাকের দাম সাধ্যের মধ্যে।

Okay. This dress is affordable. 

ঠিক আছে.

এই পোশাকটি সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যের।

‘affordable’ means that this  dress is not too expensive. 

'সাশ্রয়ী' মানে

এই পোশাকটি খুব বেশি দামী নয়।

I have enough money and I can pay for this dress. I have enough money. 

আমার কাছে যথেষ্ট টাকা আছে

এবং আমি এই পোশাকের জন্য অর্থ দিতে পারি।

আমার কাছে পর্যাপ্ত টাকা আছে.

I can buy this dress. So I would say this dress is affordable. 

আমি এই ড্রেস কিনতে পারেন.

তাই আমি বলব,

এই পোশাকটি সাশ্রয়ী।

I can also say this dress is inexpensive. We all know what expensive is but we say  

আমি এটাও বলতে পারি,

এই পোশাকটি সস্তা।

আমরা সবাই জানি কি দামি

কিন্তু আমরা বলি সস্তা

inexpensive so that's the opposite of expensive. 

তাই দামের বিপরীত।

‘affordable’ and ‘inexpensive’  have very similar meanings. 

'সাশ্রয়ী' এবং 'সাশ্রয়ী'

খুব একই অর্থ আছে।

Again, I have enough money to buy this. It's not too expensive. 

আবার, এই কেনার জন্য আমার কাছে যথেষ্ট টাকা আছে।

এটা খুব ব্যয়বহুল না.

Then, we have ‘cheap’. This dress is cheap. 

তারপর, আমরা 'সস্তা' আছে.

এই পোশাক সস্তা।

Now, ‘cheap’ is similar, it means it's not  expensive, but it's a little bit more negative. 

এখন, 'সস্তা' অনুরূপ,

এর মানে এটি ব্যয়বহুল নয়,

তবে এটি একটু বেশি নেতিবাচক।

If you say that something is cheap,  people may think that the quality  

আপনি যদি বলেন যে কিছু সস্তা,

মানুষ ভাবতে পারে যে মান খুব ভাল নয়।

is not very good. It's not very nice. 

এটা খুব সুন্দর না.

Okay. Now, let's look at the opposite. 

ঠিক আছে.

এখন, এর বিপরীত দিকে তাকান.

The opposite of these words is ‘expensive’. This dress is expensive.

এই শব্দের বিপরীত শব্দ 'দামি'।

এই পোষাক দামী.

It costs a lot of money, and too much money. Maybe, I don't want to buy it. 

এটা অনেক টাকা খরচ,

এবং অত্যধিক টাকা.

হয়তো, আমি এটা কিনতে চাই না.

We can also say ‘overpriced’. This dress is overpriced. 

আমরা 'ওভারপ্রাইজড'ও বলতে পারি।

এই পোশাকের দাম বেশি।

That means the price is too high. 

তার মানে দাম অনেক বেশি।

So, again, I don't want to buy this  dress, it's too expensive and overpriced. 

তাই, আবার, আমি এই পোশাক কিনতে চাই না,

এটি খুব ব্যয়বহুল এবং অতিরিক্ত মূল্যের।

Okay. Let's look at some more examples together.

The hat was affordable because it was on sale.

Next. I wish this bag was more affordable.

Next. This computer is surprisingly inexpensive. 

পরবর্তী.

এই কম্পিউটারটি আশ্চর্যজনকভাবে সস্তা।

These shoes look beautiful, but they are too cheap. 

এই জুতা দেখতে সুন্দর, কিন্তু তারা খুব সস্তা।

Next. That jacket is too expensive. 

পরবর্তী.

সেই জ্যাকেটটা খুব দামি।

Last. I cannot buy this overpriced bag. 

শেষ।

আমি এই অতিরিক্ত দামের ব্যাগ কিনতে পারি না।

আমি এই অতিরিক্ত দামের ব্যাগ কিনতে পারি না।

Okay, so in this video, we learned that when we want to describe the cost of something,

ঠিক আছে,

তাই এই ভিডিওতে, আমরা শিখেছি

যে যখন আমরা কোনো কিছুর দাম বর্ণনা করতে চাই,

as not too expensive,

যেমন খুব ব্যয়বহুল নয়,

we say ‘affordable’.

আমরা বলি 'সাশ্রয়ী'।

Okay. Something is affordable if it's not too expensive. 

ঠিক আছে.

খুব ব্যয়বহুল না হলে কিছু সাশ্রয়ী হয়।

If I can buy it with the money I have.

আমার কাছে থাকা টাকা দিয়ে যদি কিনতে পারি।

On the other hand, if something is not affordable,

অন্যদিকে,

যদি কিছু সাধ্যের মধ্যে না হয়,

if the cost is very high,

যদি খরচ খুব বেশি হয়,

we  say ‘expensive’ or ‘overpriced’.

আমরা বলি 'ব্যয়বহুল' বা 'অতিমূল্য'।

For me, I think some brands like  H&M and Forever 21 are affordable. 

আমার জন্য, আমি মনে করি কিছু ব্র্যান্ড যেমন H&M

এবং Forever 21 সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যের।

Some people don't think this way. They think it's cheap. 

কিছু মানুষ এই ভাবে ভাবে না.

তারা মনে করে এটা সস্তা।

Sometimes, yes, some of the items can be cheap.

কখনও কখনও, হ্যাঁ, কিছু আইটেম সস্তা হতে পারে।

But for me, I like those brands because they are affordable.

কিন্তু আমার জন্য, আমি সেই ব্র্যান্ডগুলি পছন্দ করি কারণ সেগুলি সাশ্রয়ী।

Another store that I like in Korea,

কোরিয়াতে আমার পছন্দের আরেকটি দোকান,

it's called Zara or Jara in Korea as they say.

এটিকে কোরিয়াতে জারা বা জারা বলা হয় যেমনটি তারা বলে।

They have some items that are affordable and some items that are very expensive.

তাদের কিছু আইটেম রয়েছে যা সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যের

এবং কিছু আইটেম যা খুব ব্যয়বহুল।

Too expensive for me to buy.

আমার কেনার জন্য খুব ব্যয়বহুল.
