idioms what is that I have never  heard about that before teacher

seriously I can't believe it idioms  are really important to speak English

important I don't think so I know  everything I mean advanced level

a native English speaker then  you need to learn about idioms  

oh really um I'm not sure I can speak English  very well teacher what are these idioms an idiom  

is an expression or phrase whose meaning does  not relate to the literal meaning of its words

in other words idioms mean something  different than the individual words

students often confuse idioms with Proverbs  however these are two different things

Proverbs are well known for stating a piece  of advice or general fact and for example

a picture is worth a thousand  words is a proverb uh General truth

the idiom bite off more than you can chew what you  meant is that you are trying to do something that  

is too hard for you oh now I get it yeah I've  heard about that I remember now tell me more

why use idioms in sentences I think  that is a very interesting question

idioms may add personality to  your work or speaking idioms  

can also be used to come with sarcasm or puns  

and as I told you before if you want to speak like  a native English speaker you have to learn them
