hey Gregory big weekend coming up huh i'm very

excited listen we are all meeting  on Saturday at 6:00 p.m at Martin's

house you know a small reunion  food games laughs you should come  

it's been a while i am totally  sure we will have fun are you

in oh uh yeah that sounds nice saturday  you said um at 6 um I think I'm free  

i mean probably i'll try to come try  come on Greg don't do that maybe thing

again you always say maybe  and then cancel at the last

minute just say yes if you're coming  or no if you're not no pressure come  

on i know i know but you know how it  is sometimes I get home and I just

crash my bed calls me plus I think I  might have to do laundry or something  

greg seriously laundry on a  Saturday night you're kidding

right i mean who knows but yeah  all right I'll come i'll be there  

probably that probably again okay I'll  believe it when I see it i'll see you

there of course don't worry i'll um I'll try to

interesting i just heard from Oliver that  you're finally coming to the reunion this

weekend is it true you're finally  going to a reunion i can't believe

it yeah well I said yes but  honestly I'm already thinking about

cancelling man come on again why  you always cancel every single

time i know i know I do but  it's not easy for me okay um

sometimes sometimes I just don't  feel like going out i feel tired  

you know or I want to be alone i  like being alone i like my space just

that you say yes make people excited and then

nothing silence you go us  that's not cool Greg that's not

good it's not like I plan to cancel  i mean well but when the day comes

uh the sofa feels too good man  i think do I really want to get

dressed take the bus talk to  people and the answer is usually no

okay let's talk real remember Sam's  farewell dinner you promised to come  

you told us "Save me a seat."  We waited we kept checking our

phones and you never showed up  really we were waiting for you bro

i remember that night I got home from work  sat on the couch just for five minutes and  

then I passed out i woke up at midnight i  felt so bad so why didn't you text anyone  

you didn't call anyone to say

sorry a simple sorry I can't make  it would have been better than

silence sam left thinking you  didn't care she felt bad that's not

fair i didn't know what to say i was embarrassed i  

thought what's the point now they are  already mad that's why I didn't call

them greg people are more understanding  than you think but only if you're

honest saying no is not rude what's  rude is saying yes when you don't mean

it you're right i've said yes  too many times when I didn't feel

ready i guess I just didn't want  to disappoint people by saying

no but I ended up disappointing them more i'm

sorry exactly and let's be honest  it's not always about being tired

sometimes you just don't feel  like socializing right tell me the

truth true sometimes I feel  awkward i don't know what to talk

about everyone else seems so confident  i feel out of place i don't know

hey you're not the only one  who feels like that we all do

sometimes but staying home doesn't  make it easier you need to push

yourself even showing up for 30 minutes  helps you don't need to be there all night

yeah you're right another thing  sometimes it's about money i  

can't afford to eat out or pay for  transport so I cancel to not feel

ashamed why don't you just say that  we could plan something cheaper

seriously or even just hang out at  someone's place watch a movie drink

coffee it's not about money it's about  connection it's important to have you

there i guess I'm afraid of being  judged like "Oh Greg doesn't have money

again." Dude we're all trying to  survive in this economy no one's judging

you we'd rather see you happy and present  than rich and distant that's the truth

you make me think I always thought  avoiding plants was the easy

way but I didn't realize how much I was hurting my

friendships gregory friendships are  like plants you have to water them

cancel too often and people stop  calling stop inviting they move

on and then you sit at home  wondering why no one texts you

anymore exactly listen I'm not saying you have  to go to every party or dinner but be honest  

if you can't go say so if you say yes mean it  from now on I'll try to be more honest say no  

when I really mean no and say yes only when  I know I'll go that's what I'm going to do i

promise that's all we ask we miss you man  we enjoy your company just show up you  

don't have to be the loudest person  just being there makes a difference

all right Saturday i'll go for real  this time even if I only stay an

hour I'll believe it when  I see it but I'm proud of

you now go do your laundry  before you use that excuse again
