oh God my head really Hearts  yesterday's party was wild I  

hope my dad hasn't realized  that I didn't come home to

sleep surely he must continue sleeping  I better go to my room before he notices

worry you just keep sleeping I'm  going to go back to my room don't

worry I only got a up to drink some  water but I'm very sleepy it's still very

early it's Sunday morning so you keep  sleeping we will have breakfast together

later okay I think he's already asleep  I will go up to my room without making

noise so you just woke up  huh Charles you have just

arrived no dad listen I can  explain it to you I was in my

room don't lie to me you're going to  tell me where you were last night right

now uh dad I was at Tim's house you  know we were um playing video games  

video games all night and why do you  smell like alcohol huh don't lie to me

Charles it's not what you think that I uh  I accidentally spilled a drink on my shirt

this you think I don't know I can  see it in your eyes you've been

drinking that relax it's not a big deal  I'm not a kid anymore I can take care of

myself not a big deal coming home  drunk isn't a big deal you've changed

Charles this isn't the boy I raised  what's happening to you why are you doing

this nothing is happening that  I'm just growing up can't you see

that I want to a party okay I I  had some drinks it's normal don't

exaggerate what normal since  when is lying to your father

normal you used to be honest with me  Charles now you can't even tell me the

you all right if you want to  know I can tell you everything

okay I went to a party it was Ron's  birthday he threw a party at his home that's

all that's all you have been  drinking alcohol right tell

me yes just a little but it's  normal everyone my age does it

Dad I went to a party and I had fun I  drank a little alcohol but that's all

enough enough I can't believe it  what have I taught you all this

time again with that just stop  I don't need a lecture right

before I'm your father I've always  triy to guide you to be there for

you and now now you treat me  like this you have changed

all you're right I shouldn't have lied  to you I went to a party and yes I drank

thinking I don't want you to feel like I  don't respect you because that is not the

truth I know I messed up tonight  and I don't want to disappoint you

anymore I appreciate that but it's not just  about tonight it's about about building

trust I want us to have that kind of  relationship where you can come to me with

anything you're right I don't know  why I thought lying was the easier

option I guess I didn't want  you to see me differently that's

all Charles seeing you make mistakes  doesn't change how much I love

you what hurs is seeing you push me away  I'm here to guide you not to control your

life I guess I've been feeling a  lot of pressure Lately from school

friends even myself and sometimes it  feels like paring is the only way to

escape I get it Charles life can  be overwhelming especially at your

age but escaping isn't the solution  face your challenges and talk about

them I guess I've been too scared  to admit that I'm struggling I'm

sorry that's okay son struggling  doesn't mean you're weak it means you're

human just remember you don't have to go  through it alone I'm here and so is your

mom thanks Dad I'll try to open  up more I promise I will do

it that's all I need to hear you've  got so much potential Charles believe

me I don't want to see you lose sight of  that because of temporary distractions

you sound like a motivational speaker

now hey I'll take that as a compliment but

seriously Charles you're growing into an  amazing person just don't Lose Yourself  

along the way I want that I  promise I will try to be a better

person that's my boy now go get  some rest we've got a new day
