The perfect P and B sounds!! Perfect English Pronunciation

Something I learned recently is that for

Arabic speakers the letters B and P or

아랍어 스피커의 경우 문자 B와 P 또는

the sounds /b/ and /p/ are difficult to

소리 /b/와 /p/를

distinguish and produce so today I'm

So this all relates to voiced sounds

그래서 이것은 모두 유성음과 무성음과 관련이 있습니다.

and unvoiced sounds

What are voiced sounds and unvoiced sounds?!

유성음과 무성음은 무엇입니까?!

I'm glad you asked

"Voiced sounds" produce a vibration in the throat

"유성음"이

for example in letters or

예를 들어 문자나

sounds like b or /b/ so when you put

b 또는 /b/와 같은 소리로 목구멍에 진동을 생성하도록 요청하여 기쁩니다.

your hand to your throats and say B or

손을 목에 대고 B 또는

/b/ you can feel the vibration

/b/라고 말할 때 진동을 느낄 수 있습니다.

you can feel the vibration

진동을 느낄 수 있습니다.

That means it's "voiced"

즉 "유성음"을 의미하는

whereas with a /p/ sound

반면 /p/ 소리에는

there's no vibration this means it's "Unvoiced"

진동이 없습니다. 이는 "무성음"을 의미합니다.

No vibration, no nothing, it's just a puff of air from your mouth

진동도 없고 아무것도 없고 그저 입에서 공기를 뿜는 것일 뿐인데

So how do we distinguish this?

These two words

이 두 단어

"Bob" has two /b/ sounds

"Bob"에는 두 개의 /b/ 소리가 있습니다.

Two "voiced" sounds

두 개의 "유성음" 소리가 있습니다.

"Pop" however has two "unvoiced" sounds

"Pop"에는 두 개의 "무성음" 소리가 있습니다.

For this practice you're going to need a piece of paper

이 연습을 위해 종이 한 장을

and hold it close to your mouth

입에 대고 있어야 합니다.

When you produce "voiced" sounds, you won't

"유성음" 소리를 낼 때는

you won't see the paper move

종이가 움직이는 것을 볼 수 없지만

But when you produce "Unvoiced" sounds you'll see the paper move

"무성음" 소리를 낼 때는 종이가 움직이는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

Because there's no vibration in the throat

There's just a puff of air pushing that paper

Pushing that paper

종이를 밀어서

So let's begin

시작하겠습니다.

Nothing however with "pop"

"팝" 소리는 들리지 않습니다.

So you see with every /p/ sound, the paper moves

/p/ 소리가 날 때마다 종이가 움직이는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

Because of that puff of air from your mouth

입에서 불어오는 바람 때문에

So try it with me, put the paper to your mouth

종이가 움직입니다. 그러니 저와 함께 종이를 입에 대고

and say these two words:

이렇게 말해보세요 두 단어:

Doesn't matter how loud you get

아무리 소리를 높여도

The paper won't move

종이는 움직이지 않지만

But with "pop"

"펑"

Two /p/ sounds

두 개의 /p/ 소리

You'll feel it move, try with me

움직임이 느껴질 것입니다

paper to the mouth

종이를 입에 대고

Even if you say it quietly, it will still move

조용히 말해도 여전히 움직입니다.

Okay let's try some other words

다른 단어를 시도해 봅시다. 예를

For example:

들면:

"Voiced" shouldn't move

"Voiced"는 움직이면 안 됩니다

Nothing, great! Just a vibration no puff of air

. 공기를 들이마시지 않고 진동만

"Pull" however is that unvoiced sound

"당긴다"는 무성음입니다

So you'll get the puff of air moving a paper

그래서 당신은 공기가 종이를 움직이게 할 것입니다.

Okay let's try another one

좋아, 다른 하나를 시도해 보자

"Bunch" - voiced, shouldn't move

"번치" - 음성, 움직이면 안 돼

Did you do that? How about "Punch"

그렇게 했니? "Punch"는 어때요?

So when you say it with me, you should not feel the paper move

그럼 저랑 같이 말할 때 /b/발음에 종이가 움직이는 느낌이 아니라

for the /b/sounding words

But the paper should move for the /p/ sounding words

/p/발음에 맞춰 종이가 움직여야 하는데

So how else can we practice this?

이건 또 어떻게 연습해야 할까요?

Well we can look at tongue twisters!

그럼 우리는 혀 트위스터를 볼 수 있습니다!

Really try and enunciate

정말 노력하고 발음해봐

Pronounce those sounds properly, fully

그 소리를 제대로, 완전하게 발음해봐 "유성음"에 대해

You can be as loud as you want

원하는 만큼 크게 할 수 있습니다

for the "voiced" you shouldn't get any movement in the paper

for the "unvoiced", you should feel that that puff of air

. "무성음"에 대해

and the paper should move

종이에 움직임이 없어야 합니다. 움직여야 합니다.
