always worth a visit if you’re in Britain.

So, follow me for my how-to guide

on how to successfully survive in a British pub.

First of all, pay attention to who’s waiting,

and wait your turn.

In Britain it is not cool to jump the queue.

So, just wait.

Guinness, please.

Now I’m ready to order.

Before you even order, always start with a greeting.

Hey.

Hiya, what can I get you?

Now, this is your chance to order.

However, don’t just steam in there with an I want.

You need to use something softer, like: Can I get...

or: I’d like...

I’d like… Okay,

I’m going to pause here for just a minute to talk

about quantities of drinks

you should be asking for.

So lager, ale and cider come in a half pint or a pint.

You can ask for wine in both a small glass

or a large glass.

And spirits come in singles and doubles.

Anyway, now back to ordering drinks.

I’d like a pint of lager and a half a lager, please.

There you go.

Are you paying by cash or card?

Potentially you’ve actually got three choices here.

Of course, you can pay by cash, you can pay by card,

and some places will also let you set up a tab.

However, today I’m going to use my card.

I’d like to pay with card, please.

And now for the drinking.

However, in Britain it’s very common

before we start our drink to touch glasses with somebody else

and to say cheers.
