Learn English While Watching an Eclipse - Monday April 8 @ 3:00pm EST

Well, hello.

Something fun is going to be happening

in this area in about two weeks.

On Monday, April 8, there's going to be an eclipse.

I'll be able to stare directly at the sun with these

glasses and the moon will move in front of the sun.

And I happen to live in an area where I'm

almost in the center of the path of the eclipse.

So I had an idea.

In two weeks, instead of making an English lesson

for all of you, I'm going to do a lesson

about eclipses and I'm going to live stream it.

So it'll be, I think, Monday

around 3:18pm Eastern Standard Time.

I'll have to double check the time.

I'll put the correct time on the screen here.

I have my glasses and I also have this camera.

And what I'm going to do is

I'm going to, it's hard to see.

That's why I keep tilting my head back.

I'm going to put this in front of the lens and

then I'm going to point this camera at the sun.

I should probably hit record when I'm doing

that because I wanted to actually show you.

So here's the normal view.

I think one of these glasses will protect the lens.

It's not very bright out today,

so you can't actually see much.

It's just like a little orange dot in the sky.

So my plan is to take this camera and

have these in front of the lens and then

I will share the eclipse with you.

So the path of the eclipse, I'll put a picture on

the screen and I'll put an X approximately where I live.

It's literally going right over my

house within a few miles.

I know people are flocking to this area

to see the eclipse and I just happen

to live right in the middle of it.

So my farm is right on the path.

My son actually lives a little further away.

He's at university.

He will see the eclipse a few

minutes later than I see it.

And anyone who lives in Texas and I think

other states way south of me and to the

west will see it a lot earlier.

But I ordered my glasses.

My official eclipse watching glasses are ready to go

and I have my second camera and I'm going

to be able to cover that up.

So I think it will be fun.

I think I might even be able to convince Jen to

join us for a little bit during the live stream.

So to review.

Two weeks from now, it's Monday right

now when I'm making this video.

Two weeks from now, Monday, April 8th,

I will schedule a live stream for that day

so you'll see what time it starts.

I'll probably start about ten or 15

minutes, maybe 20 minutes before the eclipse.

Then I will put on my eclipse glasses.

I'll probably tape this to the camera somehow.

You don't need to know the details of this part of it.

And then you will be able to see the eclipse with me.

Does that sound like fun?

I'll try to teach some English

as well while we're doing it.

And what I'll do is I'll put, like, I'll be on

this side of the screen and then I'll have my other

camera with the eclipse over on this side of the screen

so you can see the eclipse as it's happening.

And then I can talk and teach you a

little bit of English at the same time.

So two weeks from now, April

eigth solar eclipse. Should be fun!

I'm really looking forward to it.

I think it'll be an amazing experience for all

of you who live in parts of the world

where you won't be able to see it.
