The 10 Best TV Series To Learn English in 2021

might guess from the name of this channel, we love  TV Series! All the time learners ask Andrea and I 

what new TV Series we recommend that they learn  english with ! So, we decided to make a video sharing  

10 of our favorite series that we've watched  so far this year! We've chosen from a variety of  

genres so anyone will be able to find a new series  they will love from this list! And if you want to  

easily comprehend some of your favorite series,  well, every week we make lessons with TV Shows  

and help you to understand them without getting  lost, without missing the jokes and even without  

subtitles Like Anouar who now feels more confident  speaking to and understanding foreigners in their  

job thanks to our lessons! Now, let's jump into our  list of the top 10 Series to learn english in 2021!

Now, this series has been going for some years  now but I only started watching it this year  

and I was hooked. Line of Duty is a drama series  following the investigation of AC-12 which is  

a controversial police anti-corruption unit. this means that this department's job is to investigate corrupt police officers.

They'll draw attention to links between organized crime and corrupt police officers.

There is no corruption in this police force.

A bear-face liar promoted to our highest office. 

- You should investigate. - Believe me. We will.

How do the police react to the show because of  

course it looks at corruption within the police force.

And it's not specifically where you are you're not based in any named city I think...  

No, no, we can't be because, you know, otherwise people  

would kind of, you know, assume that, you know, that's  the police force we're investigating. But the  

police really do like the show I think, I mean, they  like the fact that it's truly kind of procedural.

Not only will you learn lots of police related  vocabulary, but you'll hone in your listening  

skills because there is such a huge range of  british accents represented in this series. Now, it  

was probably my favorite series this year, and it's  the most successful BBC drama ever. You'll find  

most of the seasons available on Netflix to start  watching now.

- Furby? - Darby.

- Darby, sorry. - Yeah, I know. I've gotten Furby before. 

If you like rom-coms then this could be a great  

option for you. Love Life follows Darby, a single  twenty-something college graduate who is fearing out  

her life and her calling in New York City. Now,  along this journey she's trying to find "the one"  ,

that is her soulmate. So, each episode follows  a different relationship.

He realized he was not ready to be in a relationship also I got  really drunk at his dad's wake.

No, that is okay, I mean, I puked at Jim's cousin Bar Mitzvah.

- It's all happened in front of his ex-wife. - Oh, okay! You win!

Now , if you like series like Friends and Sex in  The City, then I bet you'll love this one.  

And it's great for getting a taste of american  culture, as you see Darby and her friends lives  

in New York, and also for learning everyday  native vocabulary. Love Life is on HBO Max.  

We moved here to start over. And it's been hard.

- Wendy? - Sometimes, if you don't move forward...

This drama series stars Jason Bateman  as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates  

his family from the big city of Chicago to a  Summer Resort community in the Ozarks in Missouri.

The reason they relocate is because a money  laundering scheme goes wrong forcing Marty to  

pay off a substantial debt to a mexican drug  lord in order to keep his family safe. This  

once ordinary family living ordinary lives must  now adapt to their new life in order to survive.

We're going to kill your family  and be done with all this madness.  

- Jesus, Marty he knows the kid's names. - Last chance for witness protection.

This series moves quite fast, so it will definitely have you gripped. 

You can find it on Netflix, and they're currently making season four.

Why people like Marty? Why they  like your character?

The middle aged dude trying to get on with it with his kids and his wife, and keep them alive, and and be a provider.  

And then he you know and he's probably a  a little bit dumber than he thinks he is.

- So, where do you see yourself in five years time?  - What do you want to be doing?

- What's the plan? -  I just want to be happy.

For my second pick I  chose a british series that takes place in London.  

This is an LGBT series, which means it might not  be everyone's cup of tea. But as long as you're  

open-minded you could find it really impactful. Now,  it follows the lives of several gay men and their  

friends living through the HIV /AIDS crisis during  the 1980s. Because of this I might call this one a  

dramedy, it has aspects of comedy but ultimately  with the main subject it is definitely a drama.  

It has a stellar cast, for example, one of  the featured actors is Neil Patrick Harris  

who you may recognize from How I Met Your  Mother. So, give it a try. It will give you a  

taste of the 1980s in London and it will  definitely leave you thinking. By the way

If you're  like me and grew up in the 90s, you're gonna love  

Glow. It stands for gorgeous ladies of  Wrestling and it takes a look at the personal  

and professional lives of a group of women  who perform for a Wrestling organization in  

Los Angeles during the 1980s. This is  also a dramedy, and is so fun to watch

f you grew up in the 90s watching Wrestling,  because you'll recognize a lot of the moves.  

You'll also see how they develop their stage  characters and plan the fights. As well as  

develop their costume ideas which can be quite  elaborate. You can also find this one on Netflix.

- We really want to upload? - We could be together forever.

You are so amazing, but forever it's just like so long.

Alright, so this one is much more  lighthearted. Upload is a bit like black mirror, but  

it's a comedy taking place in the near future with  electric hover cars, virtual reality and a digital  

afterlife. So, the series starts out with Nathan  being in a near fatal car crash, and his girlfriend  

uploading him to a luxurious digital afterlife  called Lakeview. He's able to live forever here  

and even meet with his loved ones. However, the  catch is that it's a bit like a social network  

with in-app purchases, meaning not everything is  included. This is a great series if you love sci-fi  

and technology, and it's fantastic for learning  vocabulary related to tech. It will make you laugh  

but it also includes aspects of romance and even  intrigue. It certainly got me thinking about what  

the near future could be like as not everything  in the series is so far fetched.

20 years from now people will be like, Oh yeah I'm not dying anymore I'm just going to upload.

Last week we were  adults before we moved here turned 19 again.  

It's a reunion!

This is an American comedy that  depicts the misadventures of a close-knit group  

of Harvard alumni in their 40s as they navigate  their ambitious yet complicated relationships with  

each other in New York City. The series explores  old friendships former romantic entanglements  

and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the  past. You'll laugh a lot with this group of friends  

and probably recognize a lot of the cast from past  successful TV Series. One of the actress was even in  

an episode of Friends. It's a fun and easy series  to watch and you don't need to invest too much  

time because the episodes are just 30 minutes  long. This one was also a Netflix original.  

I want everyone to know that after a long talk  with Max last night I have decided to go ahead  

and try to like you.

That is achievable.

I love fantasy series like Game  of Thrones, so this one from Netflix was right up  

my alley. It follows Alina Starkov, an orphan who  lives in Ravka, which is a land similar to Russia.

Now, in this world Grisha, which are like witches,  can control different elements like fire, wind,  

or darkness. It is discovered that Alina is a sun  summoner, which means she can control light. However,

she's the only one, which makes her extremely  valuable. So, many are interested in controlling  

her power, or even killing her. Now, the russian  cultural aspects give this series something really  

special, which I loved, and it does a great job  of keeping you on the edge of your seat, guessing  

what will happen next. By the way, we made a lesson  with Shadow and Bone that you will only find over

What scene did you enjoy filming the most?

- Fight scene, definitely. - Your fight scenes were amazing.

This is what rich entitled people do when  threatened. They conceal the ugly truths  

to protect themselves.

Now, for my final pick, you can't see both Nicole  Kidman and Hugh Grant starring in a limited  

series together and not watch it. It's bound  to be good and The Undoing did not disappoint.  

It was worth the hype and just incredible.  The acting of course is top notch but the  

storyline will have you on the edge of your  seat. It's a mystery psychological thriller  

mini series that aired on HBO and was their  most watched show in 2020. It's a modern twist  

to a classical whodunnit tale, when the life  of a wealthy New York therapist Nicole Kidman  

turns upside down after she and her  family get involved with a murder case.  

Now, I don't want to reveal anything more in case  you haven't yet watched this series, but trust me  

when I say you don't want to miss it.

- Okay, feel free to yell out direction. Good. - Right, Nicole.

- Yes. - Where did we first meet ever?

- What? Can you remember that?

- To me it's very special. To you clearly nothing. - No.

Men are going to come along  and want to teach you things.

Doesn't make them any smarter.

You just let them blow by and you go on  ahead and do just what how you feel like.

My final pick is The Queen's Gambit. Now, this  one had a lot of hype, so I imagine some of  

you have probably already seen it. This is  a limited series from Netflix with only  

7 episodes, which is great if you don't have  a lot of time to dedicate to a new series.  

The protagonist Beth is played by the incredible  Anya Taylor-Joy, who by the way I was surprised to  

find out is not actually a native english speaker.

What years were you in Argentina?

I was there from birth up until six, and then I  only learned english when I was eight because I  

was convinced that if I didn't speak the language  in England that I would have to go home, but that  

didn't work out I had no friends, so I needed to  learn the language pretty quickly. So, the thing  

is that I have an english accent whenever I'm  talking to my mum but because it's not my first  

language I tend to mimic the people I'm around,  and it's really difficult to keep it together.  

Now, Beth is an orphan and a chess prodigy. Now,  I had resistance to watching this one because  

I find chess quite boring. But by the end of the  series I found it absolutely fascinating. Beth  

suffers from a handful of challenges in the series.  She's the only girl in a sport of men so she is  

always underestimated. Furthermore because of her  traumatic past she deals with addiction. I loved  

every minute of this series and you can get a  taste of it right now and learn some chess related  

vocabulary that will help you to understand  the show with this lesson that we made with it.  

- Maybe it's in my blood my mother went crazy. - Went crazy or always was?  

- I don't even know if I'm good enough. - You're the best there is.
