Pronunciation Mistakes by Native Speakers

I was listening to an interview last week, and  a best-selling author, who's a native speaker,

used the word "illustrative." That gave me  pause because I usually say /ˈɪləstreɪtɪv/.

I had to check some dictionaries  to confirm there are two acceptable

variations. /ɪˈlʌstrətɪv, ˈɪləstreɪtɪv/ Like  illustrative lessons and illustrative materials.

Things that help show and explain. Well, then  I was listening to a podcast, and the host,

another native speaker, said /sʌbˈsikwənt/, and  I thought I'm pretty sure it's /ˈsʌbsɪkwənt/.  

또 다른 원어민인 진행자가 /sʌbˈsikwənt/라고 말했는데 나는 그것이 /ˈsʌbsəbsənt/라고 확신했습니다.

But maybe I'm wrong. I had to check the  dictionary to confirm there is only one

acceptable pronunciation. /ˈsʌbsɪkwənt/ It's  just nobody had pointed out to her that she

was saying it incorrectly. To be fair,  I've done the same with other words. It

was only recently that someone told me I was  saying the word "fiend" wrong. I was saying
