Hey guys, I'm Gabby Wallace, and this is go natural English in this video. I want to talk about something

[that's] not really an English lesson, but it's going to help you. Maybe even more than an English lesson

[I] want to talk about how to make English learning more inspiring because I think after

We've been studying for a while. [it's] easy to

feel like maybe

uninspired maybe you get tired of studying English, but you have to be able to

Motivate yourself and inspire yourself to keep going to develop your skills. So how do we do that?

I have three really practical tips that will help you to stay inspired with your language learning

So let's start out with the first one

To be inspired to continue to improve your English [language] skills you need to choose

meaningful materials to practice with

Personally I don't find most textbooks very inspiring

they focus a lot on

The language itself and not on what [you] can do with the language so I want you to use English as a tool

To read about and listen to materials that you find inspiring so personally

I really like Ted talks te d [tops]

You can find a lot [of] very interesting inspiring and practical information on Ted talks online

so if you're interested in [self-help]

You can listen to some self-help topics if you're interested in science

Listen to Science Topics the Idea Here is to choose materials that are meaningful and interesting to you now

There's a second part to this. I want you to choose materials that are at a level that's comfortable for you

Sometimes choose easy materials and sometimes choose materials that will challenge you a little bit

it's important to have a mix because if you always choose very challenging materials you might get tired and

Unmotivated very quickly, so may

60% of the [time] she was materials that are easy for you, and

40% of the time choose materials that will challenge you the easy materials will help you to

Keep your English skills up to [keep] them steady, but the challenging materials will help you to improve your language skills

Alright, so point one choose

Meaningful materials

Set a clear [goal]

When you have a clear goal, it's going to motivate you because you know what you're working towards

So everyone says I want to be fluent in English and yes, that's a great goal

And I'm here to help you with that, but I want you to pick a more specific

Clear goal for example. I want to

read an article in English

[everyday], maybe an easy article if you're reading every [day] or I want to

Listen to the English News or listen to an English

presentation like on a Ted talk every day or

Once a week if you don't have that much time I do recommend to spend a few days a week

Minimum with English in order to see improvement with your skills, but set a clear goal in one of my videos

I talked about how to set a smart goal, which is specific measurable attainable and

reasonable and timely so you have to set

Parameters you have to set a limit on your goal

Fluency is not a clear goal

Because even native speakers are continually improving their fluency in the language we can always learn new vocabulary

words and new ways to Express ourselves through idioms and

Different kinds of structures or phrases so really that's the beauty of learning a language is you can always improve it

it's a lifelong goal, so set a clear goal a

Short-term goal that you can reach within a month's time, okay?

Use English to help others really what's so motivating about learning a language for me at least

For many of you, I know

Is your going to be able to connect with people so I want you to?

Use English to help others

How can you do this well find people who are interested in the same things that you're interested in and you can exchange?

you could share articles with each other or maybe if you live in a city like tokyo where I am right now and

You can use English to help international tourists if you see someone who looks lost you can ask hey. Do you speak English?

Do you need help?

[can] I help you with directions? [are] you looking for something?

[so] use your english to help people and only you know really how you can do that

But use English as a tool [to] connect with others and to make the world a better place

Really, it's a bigger goal than just learning English we want to use English as a tool

Help you live the [life] that you've dreamed of and to make the world a better place [so] [again]

three tips to make learning English more inspiring is

One choose materials to listen to and to read about that are

meaningful to you to set a clear goal that you can achieve in a month's time or less and

Three use English to connect with and to help others alright
