A Week in College Vlog | My Classes Are Getting Cancelled | How I Study Languages

- So, today's video is gonna be a little bit different

because I'm actually gonna show you

some clips of a vlog

that I was filming a couple of days ago.

It was my first ever attempt at filming a vlog.

But I think I kind of failed

because I only filmed a couple of days

instead of my whole week at the university.

But I still think that it was pretty, pretty interesting.

And I also gave you some tips there

about how to study best,

how to organize your workspace.

Hi guys, today is Tuesday.

And today I have four classes

at my university.

So I just had two already

The first one was about my term paper

and I'm writing a term paper

on foreign direct investments

from China into the United States.

I just feel like the whole process

is really, really hard for me,

and I'm really struggling

to do the research correctly.

And my supervisor always tells me

that I make a lot of mistakes

and that I'm not doing the thing I am supposed to be doing,

so I dunno know.

If you ever had this type of problem before,

maybe you can give me some advice in the comments.

So yeah, now I just wanted to show you

how I study because I'm living in an apartment

that is not mine.

I'm renting this apartment for like three months,

so everything is temporary here.

So here is my computer.

And if you're wondering what that is over there,

I just put like the thing,

that I don't even know what it is, on top of it.

Because I don't like looking at myself when I'm working,

if it makes sense.

So yeah.

Just yeah.

So this is my computer and I just put it on this box

that I found in my apartment to make sure that it's raised.

Because my neck hurts a lot If it's not raised

because I'm always looking down.

So that's why I put this box.

Because I also have an keyboard

and I also have a mouse.

This is the mouse I'm currently using

and it's so freaking cool guys.

It's like so ergonomic, but I would say it's not perfect.

I mean, it's really nice

and there are a lot of customizable buttons here,

but if you're looking for something more ergonomic

maybe the vertical mouse.

The Logitech Vertical Mouse

might be the better option for you.

And this is my keyboard.

I don't even remember the brand of it anymore.

Is it somewhere here?

Oh yeah, this is the brand name,

Keychron.

I have no idea how to pronounce it.

And this is the place where I take notes.

I mean, I don't take notes at university's,

this is the place where I just write

what I have to do, my to-do list for today,

and then I like cross everything out.

Yeah, so this is my setup.

It looks kinda ugly

and this table is kinda makeshift,

but it's fine for now.

My neck feels way, way better now.

I'm just having a 10 minute break,

so I decided to chat with you a little bit

and just walk you through on how I study I guess.

I don't really have like a schedule when I study.

There are some websites that I use to study languages

or to study Chinese and English.

But when I study English,

what I just do is I read books.

And I usually

use what is called Kindle,

the Kindle app.

I have a Kindle app on my computer and in my phone,

so I download some books there,

like buy books on Amazon.

And I also download some books

on my iBooks,

like the Apple bookstore kinda thing.

I mean what I currently have is not really...

I currently have like a really small selection of books

that I would wanna read

maybe in the next couple,

not the couple,

that I would wanna read this year.

I can show them to you right now.

So these are some books that I'm currently,

I mean I'm not currently reading all of them,

I'm only reading this one, How Not to Diet,

'cause I'm just a huge fan of nutrition.

And I love everything about it

so I'm reading this book.

I love, I love this guy.

And I'm also planning on reading this one,

and this is like one of my favorite authors,

and she just published a new book.

And I really, really wanna read this book

because I only read the Nightingale in Russian,

so now when I read it in English, in the original version.

And also start reading this one in English as well.

I also have like a book about nutrition

and China right here.

This book is really famous

because of the author, Michael Pollan.

He's extremely famous.

And I also have a book right here,

How to be a Freelance Translator,

because this is something I'm interested in.

Right now I'm gonna have a class

and if anything interesting happens,

you're just gonna hear everything.

Oh, I feel like I'm not gonna have any classes today.

Wait, what?

Yeah, I think I'm not gonna have any classes today

'cause our professor just said

that like some of the students who are online,

she asked us to go on Wednesday,

but we can't because we have a lot of,

I mean I have a lot of classes on Wednesday already.

So what I'm gonna do? I have no idea.

What I also wanna do is to just show you

what I personally use to study Chinese.

And for English I already showed you.

It's just reading books.

But for Chinese, it's a little bit different.

I actually use like special websites

targeted at Chinese learners

because my training is as not that fluent right now.

And I hope that maybe some of your also studying Chinese

and are planning on studying Chinese in the future,

so maybe some of those resources are gonna be useful.

Yeah, sorry for not filming the last day.

I decided to not attend classes that day

because the weather was really, really good outside

and I just decided to go for a walk, enjoy the weather.

I know it's not good to just skip classes

because the weather is good,

but I just felt really, really tired

and I thought it was best to just skip them.
