Basic English Grammar: Have, Has, Had

And today we're going to learn the verb "to have".

e, hoje vamos aprender o verbo...

... Ter.

Now, the difficult thing about this verb is, is has to change when we use he and she.

A parte difícil desse verbo é: ele tem que mudar quando usamos 'ele' e 'ela'.

the rest of them don't change when we use different pronouns.

O restante não muda.

(quando usamos pronomes diferentes)

I will conjugate the verb for you and you can just learn how to do this.

Vou conjugar o verbo para você e você vai aprender como fazer isso.

We say "I have"

Nós dizemos:

'eu tenho'

"He" and "she"

'ele' e 'ela'

These are the ones that are important, we have to use "has".

(essas são a palavras que são importantes).

Nós temos que usar: 'has'

porque são pessoas no singular.

Because these are singular people.

"I", "he", " she." Then we have

'eu', 'ele', 'ela'

então nós temos...

"They" and the last one is "we".

'eles'

e... O último é: 'nós'

Both "they" and "we" are two people; at least two people.

ambos: 'eles' e 'nós' são duas pessoas (pelo menos duas pessoas)

We can say, "they have"

podemos dizer: 'eles tem'

and "we have"

e 'nós temos'

ok? so the very.. difficult and most important ones to remember here

então o mais... Difícil e os mais importantes para se lembrar aqui...

are if it's a singular person, "he" or "she", we need to change the verb to "has".

são as pessoas no singular 'ele' e 'ela'

nós precisamos mudar o verbo para 'has'.

The next thing is the negative form of these verbs.

A próxima coisa é a forma negativa destes verbos

In the negative, we have to use the word in English "don't".

no negativo precisamos usar a palavra em Inglês 'don't'

So, we're going to say:

nós vamos dizer...

"I don't have"

'eu não tenho'

For example, "I don't have a cat"

por exemplo: 'eu não tenho um gato'

"I don't have a dog"

'eu não tenho um cachorro'

"They", we can use the same word, "don't have".

'eles' (nós podemos usar a mesma palavra: 'não tem')

So we can say: "they don't have any hamburgers"

então podemos dizer: 'eles não tem hambúrgueres'

And again we because we use have we can say "We don't have".

e novamente, 'nós' (porque usamos 'temos'), podemos dizer...

'nós não temos'

For this one unfortunately I can't say "He don't has".

para este aqui infelizmente...

eu não posso dizer: 'ele não has'

That would be too easy for you guys. We actually have to change this word

when we use the negative form, we use the verb have for all of them. The one that changes is don't, doesn't, and don't.

"She doesn't have"

"I don't have" "They don't have" "We don't have"

When we use "had," we don't have to change it with the different pronouns

quando você usa 'tinha'

So we can say I had, he and she had, they had, and we had

então podemos dizer:

'eu tinha'

'ele e ela tinham'

they had, and we had

'eles tinham'

e 'nós tínhamos'

They had a fire

tinha um incêndio

That's why the sirens are there

por isso que as sirenes estavam lá

quando mudamos o passado 'tinha' para o negativo, é onde as coisas começam a ficar um pouco mais difícil

When we change the past of had into the negative is where it becomes a little difficult

Back in old old school english

"la atrás" nas antigas, bem antigas, escolas americanas

and I think a lot of the times in Britain and in British english

e acho que, muitas vezes na Grã-Bretanha e no Inglês Britânico

You can say

você pode dizer:

I

'eu não tinha'

had

not

She had not

'ela não tinha'

They had not. We had not.

'eles não tinham', 'nós não tínhamos'

But this is very unnatural for us

mas, isto é nada natural para nós

us being people from Canada and people from America

'nós' (pessoas do Canada, da América)

And modern day english

e, no Inglês moderno do dia a dia

We just don't use "I had not." It's very Shakespearean. If you're into Shakespeare you'd know this

escolhemos NÃO usar o 'I had not', é muito "shakespeariano"

se você leu Shakespeare você sabe disso

I had to not eat in that...which is kinda weird. So

"eu não tinha comido isso"

(o que é um pouco estranho), então,

quando usamos 'tinha'...

When we use had

We have to look at this verb again

Precisamos prestar atenção bem nesse comecinho

Who knows what the negative and the past really of doesn't is?

The answer is didn't.

So for this one we're going to say I

So the more you study English the more you are going to learn there are things that are very difficult and hard and remember
