My apology video...

Hi, guys.

This is Ronnie, as you know, and you know what?

I've been thinking a lot about the last couple videos that I've made, and I just really,

really - I'm just so sorry that I've never taught you guys how to apologize, so here's

my apology video.

Do you need to learn how to apologize to someone?

Let's do it.

First of all, you need to figure out what are you apologizing for.

Now, what does this mean?

There's about three different reasons why you need to apologize.

One, you did something wrong, okay, or you did something bad.

Let's say that you see a kangaroo on the street, and you just take out your gun and shoot it.

That's bad, okay?

No matter how arrogant the kangaroo might seem to you, you just cannot kill them as

much as you want to.

So, what you're going to do is you're going to admit that you were wrong, or you're going

to admit that you did something bad, and you're going to say, "I am so, so sorry that I killed

your kangaroo."

Now, the trick about English is the more words that you say, the more formal or serious you

seem.

So, you can even throw in another "so" here if you'd like.

You can say, "I am so, so, so sorry", it helps if you close your eyes a lot.

Fake tears are always a good option, that I killed your kangaroo.

Your kangaroo is annoying, but don't say that.

Just end and go, offstage, go.

That's all you need because you don't want to get in some more trouble.

Next one, you made a mistake, so this could be at work, right?

Okay, so you're working, you're doing your best job, you're hungover.

Oh, but you just made a mistake, and that's normal, that's natural.

Why?

Because we're humans, but maybe your boss or your co-worker's angry, and oh, man.

So, to smooth things over, which means make things good again, you're going to apologize

because you made a mistake, and you're going to say, "Wow, oh, that was stupid of me.

Oh, I'm sorry that I sent the wrong file to my boss."

Okay?

So, I just got confused, blame some caffeine, blame it on the coronavirus.

Because of the coronavirus, it's the greatest excuse right now, blame it on everything,

but make sure you tell them what you're sorry for and apologize.

"I'm sorry that I sent the wrong file.

Please accept my apology."

Now, there's the thing about accepting an apology.

People will say, "You need to say you're sorry."

So you go, "Oh, I'm sorry", and the people go, "No, that's not good enough."

"What do you mean it's not good enough?

I just apologized."

So, it's better not to ask them if they accept your apology, just straight-up apologize and

then carry on, exit stage again one more time.

Now, this one, it's a very special one.

Somebody else is upset, maybe you said something, or maybe you did something that the other

person didn't like.

We use this a lot in our relationship, and I'm getting a feeling it has a lot to do with

men.

Okay?

I have a feeling that it's...

Women get upset about things because we're very emotional people, most of us, and you

know, your boyfriend or your husband or your partner or somebody else does something that

upsets you.

So, you tell them, "Oh, I'm upset, I want an apology", and that's normal, I do that.

Or you say something that you believe to be true, but other people don't think so and

they may...

They get mad.

Okay?

So, you can very easily say to the people, "I'm sorry that you feel that way, but it's

not my intention."

So, you're not really apologizing for something you did because, honestly, you don't think

you did anything wrong, and the other person says, "Oh, yeah, they apologized to me."

This actually has a cool meaning, too.

It's called a backhanded apology.

So, that means that you are apologizing, but not really apologizing, but we're not going

to go into that.

Saying "I'm sorry" works very well, but make sure you know exactly what the person's angry

at, because you could get into more trouble.

Now, the last one is...

Oh, we use this so much in Canada, this is so crazy.

Just to be polite.

I've talked about this before.

I'm going to the supermarket, I have my cart, and somebody walks in front of me, they say,

"I'm sorry."

Meanwhile, I kind of walked in front of them, so we say, "Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry" to

be polite to people.

If I'm walking behind someone and they don't hold the door open for me, which happens,

actually, people will say, "Oh, I'm sorry", and say, "Oh, that's cool, I'll get the door

myself, that's fine."

So, we use this a lot to be polite.

We don't really mean, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I didn't hold the door."

We're just saying, like, "Excuse me", it's more, "Oh, excuse me."

Another way that we say this is, "My bad", this is a very common slang expression.

"My bad", and everyone's like, "Oh, that's an apology now, that's cool."

So, my apology video is make sure that you know what you're apologizing for.

And don't apologize for things that you're not really sorry for.

"Oh, maybe if it's in a relationship, you got to do that."
