There's a big difference between listening in the IELTS test

and listening in practice.

When you listen in the IELTS test,

you listen one time, usually.

Well, yes, let's say one time.

Because they are testing your listening.

When you're practicing,

you should listen six or seven times,

because the goal is not to test.

The goal is to develop your listening skill.

So why do I do all these exercises, right?

Why do I do all of this around picking three key words,

adding words before and after,

is we're developing your listening skill.

You're listening again and adding,

listening again and adding,

so you're understanding more each time.

And then we're doing another check of collocations.

And then we're doing the final check

of listening and reading.

So there's lots of listening.

So you're developing the skill.

You're not testing, you're developing.

The IELTS test is for testing.

So it's really important in your practice

that you listen six, or seven, or eight times, okay?

If you're a teacher out there,

please don't let your students listen once or twice.

Let your students listen many times

so they can develop the listening skill.
