Hello guys, today we’re gonna be talking  about tricks to IMPROVE your American accent.

I'll give you some tips that you would  probably not study with your English teacher.

English is my second language, and I've been learning it for several years, and I've never

Now I ll share with you the tricks that  will help you to master the American Accent.

Trick number 1. Use phrasal verbs Americans do not use academic verbs on a day to  

Truque número 1. Use phrasal verbs Os americanos não usam verbos acadêmicos no dia a

day basis, Instead of saying Leave, they say Get out, instead of saying accept, they say take on

Or for example Americans would never say something like… My car stopped working.

They would say – My car broke down. So use phrasal verbs as much as possible.

Trick number 2. Phrases only Americans use. If you wanna sound more American,

it’s important to use Vocabulary that  is used by Americans and avoid the

expressions that are used only by the British. For instance, Americans always use Take out  

expressões que são usadas apenas pelos britânicos. Por exemplo, os americanos sempre usam Take out

instead of take away when they buy some food at the restaraunt and they want to take it home.

Trick number 3. Contractions with Will Americans use contractions all the time,

and there’re two ways to pronounce them – in a clear way and in a very relaxed way

So, You will. You can say  You'll in a clear way "youuuul".

Então, você vai. Você pode dizer You'll de forma clara "youuuul".

and "yull". It's pronounced in  a very relaxed way.

e "yul". É pronunciado de maneira muito descontraída.

Let’ read them together: we'll have, they'll have, you’ll have. Well done! 

Vamos lê-los juntos: nós teremos, eles terão, vocês terão. Bom trabalho!

It's okay to say we will have and they will have, but we want to sound a little bit more natural,  

Não há problema em dizer que teremos e eles terão, mas queremos soar um pouco mais naturais,

so we use them in a natural  way: you'll, we'll have, they'll have.

então os usamos de maneira natural : você, nós teremos, eles terão.

Let’s move on to the next trick. 4. Linking Consonant+ a Vowel. 

Vamos para o próximo truque. 4. Ligando consoante + vogal.

Let’s listen to the sentence. He's at home. He's at home.

Vamos ouvir a frase. Ele está em casa. Ele está em casa.

We don’t say He’s at home. We say He’s at home. What about this sentence? 

Não dizemos que Ele está em casa. Dizemos que Ele está em casa. E essa frase?

She wore an exciting dress.  She wore an exciting dress. 

Ela usava um vestido excitante. Ela usava um vestido excitante.

These two sentences have a  consonant and then a vowel. 

Essas duas frases têm uma consoante e depois uma vogal.

And when we’re speaking quickly, the words are linking together and it makes us sound

When we speak we don’t hear ourselves and when we listen to ourselves speaking on a recording
