Hello guys, today we’re gonna be talking  about tricks to IMPROVE your American accent.

I'll give you some tips that you would  probably not study with your English teacher.

English is my second language, and I've been learning it for several years, and I've never

Now I ll share with you the tricks that  will help you to master the American Accent.

Trick number 1. Use phrasal verbs Americans do not use academic verbs on a day to  

Truco número 1. Usa phrasal verbs Los estadounidenses no usan verbos académicos en el día a

day basis, Instead of saying Leave, they say Get out, instead of saying accept, they say take on 

día, en lugar de decir Leave, dicen Get out, en lugar de accept, dicen take on

Or for example Americans would never say something like… My car stopped working.  

O, por ejemplo, los estadounidenses nunca dirían algo como... My carro dejo de funcionar.

They would say – My car broke down. So use phrasal verbs as much as possible.

Decían: se me averió el coche. Así que usa phrasal verbs tanto como sea posible.

Trick number 2. Phrases only Americans use. If you wanna sound more American,  

Truco número 2. Frases que solo usan los estadounidenses. Si quieres sonar más estadounidense

it’s important to use Vocabulary that  is used by Americans and avoid the  

, es importante usar el vocabulario que usan los estadounidenses y evitar las

expressions that are used only by the British. For instance, Americans always use Take out  

expresiones que solo usan los británicos. Por ejemplo, los estadounidenses siempre usan Take out en

instead of take away when they buy some food at the restaraunt and they want to take it home.

Trick number 3. Contractions with Will Americans use contractions all the time,  

truco número 3. Las contracciones con Will Americans usan contracciones todo el tiempo,

and there’re two ways to pronounce them – in a clear way and in a very relaxed way 

y hay dos formas de pronunciar ellos, de una manera clara y muy relajada.

So, You will. You can say  You'll in a clear way "youuuul".

Entonces, lo harás. Puedes decir de forma clara "youuuul".

and "yull". It's pronounced in  a very relaxed way.

Let’ read them together: we'll have, they'll have, you’ll have. Well done! 

Leámoslos juntos: tendremos, ellos tendrán, tú tendrás. ¡Bien hecho!

It's okay to say we will have and they will have, but we want to sound a little bit more natural,  

Está bien decir que tenemos y que tienen, pero queremos sonar un poco más naturales,

so we use them in a natural  way: you'll, we'll have, they'll have.

así que los usamos de forma natural : tú, nosotros, ellos tendrán.

Let’s move on to the next trick. 4. Linking Consonant+ a Vowel. 

Pasemos al siguiente truco. 4. Consonante de enlace + una vocal.

Let’s listen to the sentence. He's at home. He's at home.

Escuchemos la oración. Él está en casa. Él está en casa.

We don’t say He’s at home. We say He’s at home. What about this sentence? 

No decimos que está en casa. Decimos que está en casa. ¿Qué pasa con esta frase?

She wore an exciting dress.  She wore an exciting dress. 

Llevaba un vestido emocionante. Llevaba un vestido emocionante.

These two sentences have a  consonant and then a vowel. 

Estas dos oraciones tienen una consonante y luego una vocal.

And when we’re speaking quickly, the words are linking together and it makes us sound  

Y cuando hablamos rápido, las palabras se unen y nos hace sonar

When we speak we don’t hear ourselves and when we listen to ourselves speaking on a recording
