A visit to Kotilingeshwara | English Vlog | Havisha Rathore

Hi friends! Welcome back to this channel! I  hope you all are as right as rain. This video  

is different from other videos. But I am sure  after watching this video, you will have a bag  

of vocabulary words. It would be helpful if  you could concentrate on the sentence structure  

in this video. So, without much ado, let’s  get started. Today, we have planned to visit  

Kotilingeshwara, which is around 60 km from here.  And we are taking our Shyamsunder along with us.  

There are many kids riding cycles in our  township. Cycling is good exercise. This is a  

beautiful over-bridge en route to Kotilingeshwara.  I always love to see these pillars and the way it  

is designed. It was an excellent effort. Vendors  have arranged things on the footpath to sell their  

products. The Kotilingeshwara is in the district  of Kolar, and Kolar is 52 Km away from here. It  

means we have crossed 8 km. Chennai is 317 km  away, and Tirupati is 236 km away from here. This  

is the road we have to take to go to these places.  Tirupati is another pilgrimage visit for pilgrims.  

Right now, the weather is overcast. It’s very  cloudy. Probably, it may rain. But it will spoil  

our fun, enjoyment, and picnic if it rains. Let’s  hope for the best. We crossed the toll booth.  

Havisha is still holding the basket in  which our Shyamsunder is taking a rest.  

Keshu was feeling hungry. I prepared some  sandwiches and toast along with biscuits.  

He will get irritated if he is not fed  on time. Now, he seems to be active.  

Kolar is just 18 km away from here, and  Chennai is 283 km. There is a beautiful  

lake as well on the way. Havisha is so happy to  show the outside view to our Shyam sunder.  

We reached another toll booth. I think  their installed machine is not working.  

That’s why they are using a handheld device to  deduct the toll tax from the fast tag account.  

Fast-tag was created to avoid the delay, but  now the delay seems to be almost identical.  

We came a little ahead of our desired  destination; we took a u-turn and asked  

for the way to go to Kotilingeshwara. We stopped  at one more place to ask for the direction. The  

people were very kind and polite in guiding us.   

This is the main gate to Kotilingeshwara village.

You can see a beautiful view  of a tall Shivling from here.  

This is the main gate to the temple premises,  which also consists of the parking area.  

We parked our car and were  ready to visit the temple.  

The moment Harika got down from  the car, she started walking away.  

She got tired of sitting in one place for  quite a long time. She wanted to stretch  

her legs a little bit. But it is not safe for  the kids to stray or be alone. We put off our  

footwears in the car and headed to the temple.  There are shops and small temples along the way.  

Havisha was still holding the basket with  her. She didn’t leave it, or I would say she  

is taking good care of Shyamsunder. There was a  lady who liked Keshu and started talking to him  

and asked some questions, and I think he might  have answered properly. Keshu doesn’t hesitate  

to speak to anybody, let that be a stranger.  The entry to the temple is from gate number 1.  

The entry ticket is 20 rupees. We took our  tickets and were ready to be in the queue.  

This is the main gate, and it is closed right  now. We are waiting for it to open. People  

are still using masks, and it’s good to take  precautions. Prevention is better than cure.  

So, friends, these are one crore Shivlings in  this temple, which was built in 1980. Because  

of these one crore shivlings, this temple is  called Kotilingeshwara temple. Koti, Koti means  

one crore. There are one crore Shivlings, small  and big, on this temple premises. That’s why this  

temple is called Kotilingeshwara. The height of  the Shivlings here is from one foot to three feet.  

In this temple itself, there is Asia’s biggest  Shivling. I will show it to you shortly.  

These are all small Shivlings and look beautiful.  The devotees whose desire is fulfilled come here  

and install a small Shivling over here on this  temple premises. That’s why you can find more  

than one crore Shivlings here. You can see there  are many Shivlings here. It’s challenging to count  

them. You can see Shivlings on both sides of  this corridor. This temple's main attraction  

is 108 feet tall Shivling and 35 feet long Nandi,  an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. Just have a look  

at this 108 feet tall Shivling. How marvellous it  looks. Isn’t it amazing? The birds are flying over  

this Shivling. There are many Shivlings around  this big Shivling. Just in front of this Shivling,  

you can see Nandi, a vehicle and a great  devotee of Lord Shiva. As I mentioned earlier,  

his height is 35 feet. Around him also, there are  many Shivlings, a height of one foot to three feet  

Shivlings. These Shivlings were established by a  devotee called Manjunath. He considered that he  

disrespected Lord Shiva one hundred lakhs or  one crore, or I would say ten million times,  

and because of that, he established one crore  Shivlings so that he would get rid of the sins  

which he committed against Lord Shiva. That’s how  this Kotilingeshwara was established. This is the  

biggest Shivling in Asia. All around, you will  only see Shivlings. How beautiful this Shivling  

is. This big Shivling is visible from outside as  we saw it when we were in the car—this 35 feet  

tall statue of Nandiji. For devotees of Lord Shiv,  this place would be a wonderful place. They will  

be thrilled to see these Shivlings. It is said  that whoever comes here and desires something from  

Lord Shiva, the desire is definitely fulfilled.

Now, have a look at this statue. But  

don’t consider it a statue. This is not a statue.  He is a human being like you and me. But he wants  

to present himself like Gandhiji. He wants  to look like Gandhiji. There is a long and  

strong staff in his right hand for support and  a notebook in his left hand. But I can’t see a  

pen anywhere. There are spectacles on his nose.  He has been standing here for quite a long time,  

even without moving a finger. That’s really a  fantastic thing. I salute his dedication and  

commitment. Keshu is getting scared a little bit  about going closer to him. He thinks he is not a  

human being but something else different from us,  or he has probably come from an alien planet. He  

has not seen anyone like him. The colour he has  painted on his body makes him look different.  

Now we are having our brunch. We got late for  breakfast and too early for lunch. I prepared  

some toast for all of us and carrot halwa. This  is a nice view from here, adjacent to the temple.  

We finished our brunch and headed  towards the field. We want to rest  

and spend more time closer to  the temple, Kotilingeshwara.  

I think they have gone too far. I called them  out to come back. They appear to be meeting as  

though they have not seen each other in a while. 

Keshu tripped and fell down, grazing his knee.  

He started crying.

The atmosphere is a little windy. 

There is another temple near the main temple. 

Harika always follows Havisha. Wherever  she goes, whatever she does, Harika likes  

to do the same thing. Havisha kept on running, not listening at all. She is enjoying the most. 

Keshu wants to hold Harika’s hand, but Harika doesn’t wish to.

She just wants to be behind Havisha Didi.

We finished our job and headed  towards Bangalore. Thank you
