first of all I know a lot of people uh are maybe  confused when I say that uh fluency really comes

from deep understanding of something rather  than how much you repeat things I I just want

get fluent uh which is it's actually just a very  efficient way of understanding the language so

do uh when I was first living in Japan I was  learning basic uh like basic vocabulary for a

uh married whoops I e d m a r r you know I can't  read or can't write and talk at the same time m

a r i so to be married or to be divorced to be  divorced U so I learned these words in Japanese  

a r i 그래서 결혼하거나 이혼을 나타내는 단어인 이혼을 나타내는 단어인 U를 배웠습니다.

but what was interesting is that I also heard  this other term so regular like the term for  

하지만 흥미로운 점은 이혼을 나타내는 일반적인 단어

divorce uh is deu uh but the another term I  heard was like batsu like batsu Ichi batsu  

인 deu uh도 들었지만 제가 들은 다른 단어는 batsu와 같은 batsu ichi batsu였습니다.

so batsu uh is basically like an ex like like I  did something wrong and so if you're like batsu  

그래서 batsu uh는 기본적으로 전임자와 같은 의미입니다. 제가 뭔가 잘못한 것 같고 그래서 batsu

Ichi it's like one divorce or Batson you would  have uh two divorces or whatever so here was an

example where I could learn in a classro a teacher  might say one thing to me and teach me a word like

divorce but if I'm in a real conversation and  a native says Ah like like like I'm I've been

all right all right so the first one uh let's  say like especially this is for young children so

people uh like young uh children learning English  like my own children so let's say they learn a

word like submarine they learn a word like  submarine so I'll draw a picture of one here

uh if you don't know what this is maybe this isn't  the uh best kind of picture of it uh but this is a

a submarine I'll put some water up here as well  so you first learn the word like a child maybe a

young boy here's a here's this word submarine  or maybe his parents uh give him a little toy

submarine that he can play with in the bathtub  now he's probably not thinking very much about

like what the word means he just Associates this  sound with this situation or this object so he's

right so it's another good example of like oh look  at that like now when I hear this like subtitles I

the title of that thing so it's down titles and  Up titles so as you're as you're learning these

different things this is again another example  of how variety allows you to learn things and

I'm able to learn faster now what happens with  most people is maybe they learn a word or they

the water okay so as your mind starts making  these connections and you do that by doing this

intentionally so typically you might just hear  a random example here or there maybe you make

a connection but if you do this intentionally  strategically you can get fluent much faster

okay so this is why I do what I do the point is  to give you variety but in a strategic way uh to
