At the Louvre in Paris - It's time to learn English (with captions)

Hello, English addicts.

And I hope you are feeling well today.

Can you see where I am at the moment as I continue

my wonderful visit to Paris?

Today I am at a place that attracts

millions of tourists every year.

This is a place where priceless works of art

are kept in a safe place.

And that is one of the many reasons

why people like to come here.

Because I am outside the Louvre.

This is the place where

lots of famous paintings, portraits and all

sorts of art is displayed,

but also kept safely.

You might say that it is a place

that allows the public to come close to art

without it being damaged or destroyed.

One of the most famous pieces of art in the Louvre

is, of course, the Mona Lisa with her famous smile.

But why is she smiling?

To be honest with you,

I don't think the Mona Lisa smile is all that special.

I think my smile is much nicer than the Mona Lisa.

What do you think?

I think my smile is definitely priceless.

Maybe one day

I will be on the walls of this very museum behind me.

And you can also see behind me

there is a glass pyramid

that was built, I think, around 30 years ago

that was actually constructed at the time.

Lots of people hated it.

They said it was a monstrosity,

something that is monstrous, Something

that is a monstrosity is a thing

that people find offensive to the eye,

something that does not look very nice.

Although nowadays

you may have noticed that

lots of people are coming here

and visiting the Louvre.

And to be honest with you,

I think the glass pyramid makes a very nice addition.
