Mr. Steve pointed something very important out to me, so I had to deal with that.

We are back in good old England.

I have to say, it does feel strange being back.

I don't know what it is.

Whenever you've been away from your home for a long time and then you return, everything seems slightly different

and I don't know why.

It's a very weird feeling when you come back after a long break from being at home.

Anyway, we are here, we've made it here and we are back with you safe and sound.

Of course, it's not just me.

No it isn't because we are doing things slightly different today.

You may have noticed that we are earlier than usual, and there is only one person we can blame for that.

And you know who it is.

Of course the person is Mr. Steve. Here he comes.

No, it this isn't a permanent thing.

It's just a one off just for today, because I've got to go to a rehearsal.

As you know, I do a lot of amateur dramatics.

And we have a rehearsal this afternoon at 2 p.m..

Yeah, well, I love Steve. Steve, what I love is you told me.

At the very last minute.

So I didn't really have much time to prepare, so I didn't know what to do.

I thought if we go on earlier, that means I have to prepare everything much earlier than I normally would.

So I've been rushing around.

So if anything appears to be missing or or if anything appears not as it should, that is the reason why.

Anyway, we are here.

It feels very strange to be here because normally I would still be half asleep on a Sunday morning.

So it is six minutes past midday here in the UK.

We have had a very busy time, haven't we, Steve?

We've been away on holidays.

We we went to Italy, we had a wonderful time.

We met up with some of our students as well, some of our lovely viewers in Rome.

We met there.

We also travelled to some other places as well.

We will be looking at some of the things we did

in the next hour.

So over the next hour, thank you to Mr.

Steve for being with us because he is a very busy man and we will be talking about that also.

And, so we've got a connection there with a place we went to visit.

It was exciting.

It was perilous at times.

There were there were some moments where things did not go right.

I did have an accident.

I think everyone now has seen my wounds.

So I'm not going to bore anyone with them again.

But they are healing up rather nicely.

You see, my hand is slowly healing massive and also my knee as well.

I mess up tooth watching as Hi there.

as asked about your wounds.

So now you've given an update?

Yes. it was.

yes. So, yes, we we had a few.

Well, I think I think in Rome, we've got to call it Roma because that's it's all Roma.

because you can't just say Rome. It's not.

and what happened.

what we did on our first day in Italy.

Guess what?

We are now at Manchester Airport, waiting for our plane

to take us to Rome.

That literally was our first day. And that's what we did.

We went to visit Saint Peter's Square and of course, Vatican City.

A lot of people did say, Mr. Duncan, is it?

It isn't Rome, it's Vatican City.

But they are so fussy.

Some of our viewers are very, very fussy and pedantic.

So that was the first thing we did when we arrived, wasn't it, Steve?

It was straight off the plane, straight to the Vatican.

so yes, it was. Are we?

We come from sort of 12 degrees in the, in the UK to probably 36 degrees in Rome.

And we certainly didn't lounge around in the, hotel room.

We went straight out there to, get some action and we certainly did.

By the way, can I just say we've got somebody new watching us?

Probably because we're on a bit earlier. Farouk.

So today we are looking at some of the things we did, some of the things we saw.

We had the most amazing time on our full final day

where we went to a place and we witnessed the most amazing event.

We are going to show you that a little bit later on, but we saw something that blew us away.

Even you, Steve, you were deeply affected by the thing we are going to see later.

I was

English addict, something a little different.

We are on earlier because of Mr.

Steve and his show business activities,

but we that's stretching it a bit.

Well, yes, it is show business.

I would say this this this is show business as well.

It is very much probably more people watching you today then will get seeing

watching my show that I'm in next week, week after I, I'm not sure about that.

We're only on for an hour, aren't we, Mr. Duncan? By the way, we have to point that out.

Steve is with us until 1:00 because he is a very busy man.

I might stay on for a little bit longer afterwards, but this is not two hours.

I can tell you now.

It won't be two hours long.

We had some lovely gifts given to us whilst we were in Rome.

So they are special drinking container, but they keep everything hot or cold, depending on what you put in them.

I was using this last Wednesday during my live stream and I can safely say they do work very well.

My coffee was kept very, very hot, but I have a feeling one of these might be for you, Mr.

Steve.

So well, we can't ask at the moment because Francesca isn't on at the moment.

Probably because she's expecting to come on at 2:00.

but, never mind. We can always keep.

It was wonderful. We went there.

We saw lots of our lovely YouTube followers.

because they were some of them were able to come to, to Italy, to Roma and, in fact, some of them lived in Roma.

I'm going to say Rome again, because most people just say Rome.

People know where you mean. People know what I mean?

And, they gave us these,

you know, it was heartwarming.

They gave us gifts because we travelled over there and

it's a little embarrassing, but we can't remember some of the who gave us some of the gifts and one in particular.

And we've had a bit of an argument about that, but we'll come to that later.

Well, well, it's strange

because we were walking around Much Wenlock yesterday and we saw something that reminded us of Italy.

Yes, I will show you right now on the screen.

So this is something we saw yesterday.

So this this was actually in Much Wenlock yesterday.

Look at that.

Parked in the high street, a little Italian Lambretta.

Look at that.

And that was on the street of well, the high street in Much Wenlock yesterday

whilst we were walking around and we couldn't believe it.

Everyone was looking at it.

Yes, it certainly did stand out, but we couldn't believe the coincidence because, well,

we were in Italy just a few days ago and I'm going to show you the video now where Mr.

Steve helps Francesca

reverse her motorcycle.

So here is Steve.

Now, at first I thought Steve was going to push Francesca out into the traffic.

If you watch, it looks as if he's going to push her in front of a car.

Look at that.

It looks as if the car is going to hit the back of Francesca, but it doesn't.

The issue Francesca has had was that's quite a heavy bike.

And the, bike was pointed downwards.

so it was very difficult for Francesca to push the bike up the it doesn't

you can't see it on there because she goes down by Francesca, by five of she goes into the night.

Loretta is watching us as well.

Okay. from Rome, who we met, of course. So.

Hello. Hello.

So Mr.

Steve saved, helped and assisted Francesca.

And that leads me on to the next gift.

Because we we received a lovely gift.

This is the one that Mr. Steve was talking about.

He can't remember who gave this to us, but I know, I know, this was given to us by Francesca.

It was Francesca, wasn't Mr. Duncan

with Giovanni it says, no, wait.

There it can. I just do this first?

So for Mr.

Steve sprinter, Steve and I still think this was given

by Francesca because of course Francesca was riding the motorbike.

So I think that's who gave it to us.

But if, if we are wrong, if we have made a mistake there, then please let us know.

But I'm pretty sure that was given to us by Francesca.

gave that to me.

I am 100% certain because I remember getting upset because seeing that Lambretta reminded me

we were all having a meal together and, Giovanna gave me that.

Well, I think, and, it reminded me of my mother, who in London,

when she was expecting me as a baby in 1961.

my father had a Lambretta in London, and my mother fell off while she was pregnant with me.

And I got a bit upset about it at the time.

so it's strange.

Lambretta is given to me as a gift memory of my mother riding a Lambretta.

And then yesterday we see a Lambretta parked in Much Wenlock.

What?

What are the signs telling us? Mr. Duncan are telling us nothing.

They are coincidences. Coincidences?

But are they telling us we need to buy a Lambretta?

Or are they telling us we need to live in Italy? Well, there's one thing I do know.

There is no way I'm riding a motorbike on the roads here in England because people are too crazy.

But isn't that just amazing?

And everything works as well? Look, you can, you can actually turn

the column.

The steering column actually works.

It might even start up.

It might actually be a miniature working Lambretta.

Wouldn't that be amazing?

That was that was I mean, was that a coincidence yesterday that we saw Lambretta, Much Wenlock?

It was. I never seen it before. Steve. It was a coincidence.

Sometimes I think there's other things going on known as influences coming from above.

No, nothing is coming from it.

Maybe it was the Pope, Mr. Duncan. No, nothing is coming from above.

You're opening this door, Steve, so I might have to

step in and talk about that particular subject, but I'm not going to.

So I think this is from Francesca.

Steve was helping her with her bike. So that's what I think anyway.

And there is a laser.

So this is actually made by a laser.

There is a laser engraving inside.

I don't know how they do that.

They must fire the laser at the piece of glass and it goes through, but leaves that mark.

You see, so at least I got this right.

So isn't that lovely? And his lovely wife.

And for those wondering who.

You can see that I'm not very well prepared today due to Mr.

Steve. It's all Mr. Steve's fault.

And there are there are two versions of this particular statue.

The one we saw, of course, was outside the big capital building on, on the

what they call Capitol Hill, the building that looks a little bit like a typewriter.

We also brought a souvenir as well, didn't we?

This lovely souvenir of a beautiful place that we visited called San

gee, you know my namo

not, not not no, no, I know I was going to get that wrong, Sanji.

And I've been saying that so well over the past couple of weeks, and now I can't say it at all.

It's because I've been rushing around because of Mr.

Strange. Nero.

There's no R at the end,

Yeah, but you keep saying r as if there's an R engine.

But there is.

Yeah. No, there's a Sam in San Jim in Yarra.

anyway. Right. Haha.

Talking of which, Mr.

Steve, we were in that particular place.

We went there twice and you might not believe it, but we went there just by chance.

We didn't arrange anything.

We went there just by coincidence and there was a huge festival

taking place which is held once a year, and we were lucky enough to witness it.

Would you like to have a look at it? Because we were quite overwhelmed.

I know, Mr. Steve. Totally.

Mr. Steve was very overwhelmed, weren't you?

I was I became very emotional.

and I don't know why I burst into tears, in fact.

So let's find out, what was making Mr.

Steve so emotional right now?

There it was.

The place where we visited, and we spent quite a lot of time there.

We went there twice, and we couldn't believe how wonderful the spectacle was.

Wasn't it amazing, Steve?

It was amazing.

We weren't expecting that.

It's normally quite a quiet sort of, town.

And, we just happened to go there

on the last day of, a festival that they'd had going which had been going for 30 years.

Now they do it every year and around the same, period of time in June.

And, it's a festival, celebrating, but dating back to medieval times.

But the what you can't get across from that video

is the impact of the individual instruments

that were playing the drums, the sound of the drums, the marching

just.

They had loudspeakers as well with other music playing, and they had a compere.

He was very good.

They had a profound emotional impact on me, and I don't even know why.

I just totally took me by surprise.

I could not for ages for probably an hour afterwards I was fighting, holding back very strong emotions

and I'm not quite sure why, but because it just had a it was just a very emotional experience.

It went on all day.

Those, those people that took part, there must have been hundreds

marching up and down the streets playing instruments, drums and brass instruments.

The sound was so loud, it just sort of effected you on a very deep level.

Yes. All day they were marching up and down

and we arrived as they started and we at around 10:00 and we left at 8:00 and they were still doing it.

Well, they were just, just coming to an end then.

But it was it was fabulous.

The amount of work and effort they must have been all volunteers.

I would doubt that many of them were being paid at all.

to do that.

All local people, celebrating their history.

And it was amazing.

Yes. It's interesting that they, they often refer to to places like that as cities.

So they are actually fortresses built on hills, rocky hills.

And they are they are classed as cities.

Even though for me, from my point of view, I view them as small towns.

But it was the most amazing experience and we were not expecting that.

We thought we were just going to visit there and have something to eat, and then maybe a little bit

of ice cream.

But then all of this was going on around us and it kind of swept us away, didn't it?

It did, it did. It affected you as well, but in a slightly different way.

But it was amazing.

Hats off as we say.

Congratulations to the local people for what must have been logistically

a very, very difficult, must have been very difficult to to organise that.

But they've been doing it for 30 years.

So, and the with hundreds, thousands of people there and wonderful.

Sanji Yano,

a wonderful Jemmy Nance and Gimignano, a wonderful, wonderful place that we will definitely be going back to.

And it's worth mentioning that they have this every year around June.

So we were there on the final day.

So they do this three days in a row.

So all of that work and all of that effort takes place over three days, and we were lucky to catch it on.

On its final day.

So a lot of things were going on. A lot of things were happening.

There is something else I want to quickly show if I can, let me just find it.

Oh dear.

So the problem is today, the problem is there was I was rushing around because, well, let's face it,

it's been a busy one.

We met up with some of our lovely viewers

on the second day we were there.

We actually went along to the Coliseum.

And this short video gives you a an idea, a flavour of what happened

on that particular occasion.

Yeah.

There we were all together at the Colosseum.

And one thing I should mention that particular day was one of the hottest days of the year in Rome.

It was 36 degrees, and we were in the Coliseum, and it was so hot.

It was like being in a large oven when you were inside the Coliseum, the actual centre of it,

it was like all of the heat was being radiated towards the middle.

It was so hot.

My phone stopped working and actually broke down.

Was so hot your phone switched off.

So that's probably an indication that was too hot for us.

In fact, you were quite ill later and you had to go back to the hotel and I'm sure you'd had heatstroke.

Well, heat exhaustion anyway.

Yes, I was a little bit, just a little bit tired because I'd been busy anyway.

And of course, then on the Sunday we had the live stream, which you can watch again, and that was very eventful.

We had lots of lovely people, as you said, we had, Giovanni came along with his wife.

I want to say. Laurie.

And also the day before we had Franco and Tania as well.

And let's not forget also Alessandra and.

Oh, I'm trying to think, oh my goodness, I can't remember his.

Oh, there's so many names to remember.

So much going on.

My brain is still going around and around, to be honest, from all of the activities and of course,

all of the work that I've been doing for today as well.

But Franco's on now, Franco with a event with a wonderful, surname.

you couldn't get a more Italian name than that.

and yeah, we only met them briefly, but it was wonderful.

We had a little, little meal together and a drink.

but it co of course was there.

Who was in your first video with Christina, Francesca and Beatrice.

and Giovanni and Loretta, his wife.

so, yes, it was a wonderful time.

And, we we will we will never be repeated.

Not quite in that same way.

This is the tragedy of it all.

We've got it here on film, but we will never be able to quite recreate exactly that same thing again.

It was a one off, but we hope to meet everybody again.

In fact, we could stay all over Italy. Mr.

Duncan, we've had quite a few offers to go and stay, so we might take you up on it. Yes.

The one thing you should never do is invite us to stay with you.

Because we will.

We will come.

We will knock on your door with our suitcases and we will say, how long can we stay for?

Is it a month? Is it two months? Maybe a year?

Perhaps we can take 12 months out from our lives to come and come and stay with you.

We've got to remember across a poor Christina ended up in hospital on one night. Yes.

thankfully, it wasn't anything serious, and it was resolved.

And, Salvatore, of course, was was robbed on the on the, on a train.

They said there were lots of things going on on this train.

This is not a good advert for Italy.

Well, I guess, but but anyway, there were,

there was lots there was a lot of sort of incidental things happening around us going.

Yeah, I felt a bit guilty in a way, because a lot of those things wouldn't have happened if we didn't go to Italy.

But yes, good life for that doesn't that doesn't make any sense. I know it's just life isn't.

Think of all the things that have happened today that have nothing to do with you, that are far more tragic

than that.

Even though losing your money on the, Metro isn't isn't much fun.

But at least we we all had a good time.

And it was, to be honest with you, it was like.

It was like travelling at light speed because everything was was just coming past us so quickly.

Especially in Rome.

Yeah.

Can I just say, if you've never been to Rome before, it is an absolutely crazy place, but in a nice way.

People are friendly, they are warm, they are polite, the motorists are all wonderful.

They are so kind to the pedestrians.

Very polite to pedestrians. They just stop and let you cross.

It was it was very strange to us because we are used to motorists being angry and always violent.

Well, we were asking.

Apparently it's the law in Italy if a pedestrian steps into the road.

This cars must stop to let the pedestrians cross.

If you did that in the UK, you'd just be run over.

The cars wouldn't stop, they'd blast their horns at you and, yeah, I mean, there was a law that was introduced to

to the cars are supposed to stop for pedestrians, but everyone ignores it.

Well,

yes. Well, that's because that's because we are a different breed.

We are.

We are often angry about everything that is that is the British person.

Complete, complete angry, very polite.

On the roads. It was.

It was lovely.

In fact,

and the other thing I want to mention is, well, that the hotel we stayed at, they were very kind to us

when I had my accident.

And also the other hotel, as well, that we visited for all afternoon meals.

And they were also very, very generous, very helpful to us

by giving us some, some things to, to help my, my poor wounds.

So thank you very much.

I can't remember the name of the the hotel that we walked to in Pensacola.

Can you remember it, Steve?

Oh, it's somebodies name.

It's, It's oh, I think yes. No, I can't remember. But they were very, very.

We walk to this, we walk, we were walking to this, little village called Pango,

and because it was they told us there was a nice cafe there.

Turned out it was a sort of a hotel.

Yeah, it was lovely, but yes, they were very helpful, but I, I had to inflict severe pain on Mr.

Duncan because, so Mr.

Duncan had these open wounds which are bleeding, these scrapes and.

Well, whatever. Yes. And Mr. Steve decided to put some iodine.

Well, I, I had it here, but it's vanished. It's upstairs. Mr..

I guess you've taken it.

Well, you see, we don't have this in the UK, but if you get scrapes, grazes and cuts in Italy,

the popular thing to put on it is this iodine solution.

which is like a yellow colour.

It's like a disinfectant.

They use it, they use it in surgery and you dab it on the wound? Yes. Over here.

They use it before you have surgery, and, I've never seen it here in the UK.

We would tend to put an antiseptic cream on, but they use this iodine in Italy, this iodine solution.

and it was it. Well, anyway, it worked a treat.

Yes. Even though it was painful. Extremely painful when it went on.

But it worked because your wounds healed up almost overnight. Yes.

I mean, look at all these.

All these already on my arm so you can see all of these.

All of the wounds are healing very nicely.

The ones on my hand are healing up now.

And also the one, the one, the big one on my knee is also healing very nicely.

Yes. Well.

So let's guess.

No carry on method asks what? And somebody else asked earlier as well.

What food did you enjoy Claudio?

Or asked what food did you enjoy in Italy as well?

I can't say there was only one dish.

We didn't like everything else we loved.

Yes we have.

We had this dreadful meal.

Ravioli with with green cheese inside.

And it was disgusting.

However, we did eat quite a lot of lasagne.

I think four times we ate lasagne, didn't we?

yes.

so lasagne is something that everybody knows in the UK

as an Italian dish, but it's always usually very poor quality here.

People tend to buy lasagne over here as a sort of a microwave food.

It's bought frozen in, containers.

And people put it in the microwave and eat it, you know, quick.

It's a quick meal. It's a cheap version of it.

It's a cheap version of it.

It was delicious in. So that was probably our top favourite food.

But the other one I think we both enjoyed and it's also a favourite with Francesca

is, eggplant with parmesan cheese.

and that was also delicious.

In fact, if you combine the two together, you get this wonderful dish half.

I think they ought to do that in Italy.

It's like a fusion food.

I think it should be eggplant and parmesan on one side

of your plate, lasagne on the other, because the two really complement each other.

but anyway, that's what we enjoyed the most.

But the pizzas were gorgeous.

You can't get pizzas like you can in Italy.

In the UK, and like, you might be able to in some restaurants, but let us not forget the gelato.

The ice cream.

Absolutely incredible.

We did sample quite a lot of that, didn't we?

4827 is inviting us to the white House in the US,

and said that we'll get the right to stay.

Well, you know, I don't mind getting citizenship to another country.

Well, lots of I don't know, I think I'm quite fussy about the places where I stay.

It depends who gets in it. Yeah, it depends who gets in at the next election.

We might not be very welcome

at the white House if you get my meaning.

So we had a good time in Italy.

Would we recommend Italy?

From my own point of view, I would say yes.

My only advice would be give yourself plenty of time to explore,

because I felt as if we could have stayed there for at least another week.

So give yourself maybe two weeks or even slightly longer to explore the many places.

Yes, we only had ten days,

but we probably should have gone for 14 days because then we could have done a bit more travelling.

We wanted to see Christina, who lives in northern Italy, but we didn't have the time to do that, unfortunately.

yes.

people smoke a lot in Italy.

but that's fine, because they don't. Indoors. It's only outside.

But lots of people are smoking.

what else was I going to say? I was going to say something else, but I can't remember.

That's good.

I don't know why. I seem to be suffering lots of things.

Injuries, falls, hay fever and Mr.

We were there for ten days in three. Said it wasn't long enough.

The only advice?

If you go to a place, you've got it. Give yourself plenty of time, especially Rome.

You could probably spend a week in Rome, to be honest and and explore everything.

Oh, but we also won't go on set.

We we we also went to Florence as well.

That was nice.

We had a few moments there that were rather unusual as well, but we had a great time.

It was it was fantastic. We used the train service in Italy.

The trains are amazing.

Oh, talking of transport now, we were we were at Manchester Airport, weren't we.

Leaving and coming back from Italy. And today

the, the airport has been shut down because of a power failure.

So there are now hundreds of people waiting at Manchester airport waiting to get on their planes.

And they are all delayed and many have been cancelled as well.

Sorry Steve, you were saying no, I was going to say just another.

Just to add on to that,

what you're saying about Manchester, Manchester Airport was voted as the worst airport in the UK, by the way,

and the fact that they've just had a power cut to probably adds into that.

no ice cream. We forgot about the gelato. I've mentioned it.

Have you? Yes.

All right. If I wasn't listening, we had. Well, I had the mango.

I had this huge mango ice cream.

And I still remember Mr.

Steve asked the young lady who was serving is he asked for mango and she said, just mango.

So? So that's all I had in my big Coke cone was just lots and lots of mango ice cream.

She seemed quite surprised

because most people two choose 2 or 3 different flavours because there are many, many flavours.

But I have to say mango.

And also the big revelation, Mr.

Steve for us was how gorgeous chocolate ice cream is.

Yes, you can't get good chocolate ice cream here in England. You can't.

It always tastes like like filth chemicals.

But it's chocolate coloured. But it doesn't taste of chocolate.

So again, the the ice cream.

The chocolate ice cream.

Absolutely incredible.

It is the best ice cream I think I've ever tasted.

Now there is something we haven't mentioned about Italy.

Something we both criticised.

What if I said to Mr.

Steve that something was very hard to bite into and chew?

Yes. We were quite surprised that the bread I the bread was quite tough.

but I think what was happening with us, Mr.

Duncan, is that we the where we were eating at restaurants and at the hotel,

I think they were cutting the bread up in advance.

So it dried out by the time we got it on the table.

Okay.

So because there were 1 or 2 occasions where I saw the hotel bringing out fresh

cut bread, and that was nice and soft because I was expected Italian bread to be quite soft,

because you expect French bread to be quite hard and crusty.

But I thought Italian bread was soft, but maybe I was wrong, but I think it was because

where we were going to restaurants, they were cutting it up in advance and we were getting it,

but it was dried out by the time we got it. But this is everywhere we went.

The bread was very similar in quality and maybe this is the thing.

And I noticed that Giovanni, he, he actually brought his own bread

to one of the meals that we had, and he had a little package of, of soft bread.

So, so perhaps it is maybe it is a thing that a lot of the bread

in Italy is very hard or very tough and very hard to bite into.

The best one was something we had at the airport before we left. Yes.

You had some kind of there was a name for it, a certain type of bread.

It was sort of flat, about that thick, like a sandwich.

It was cut in the filling, cut in half.

And then inside our had salami and cheese.

But you couldn't eat it. You.

It was like eating a piece of cardboard

there. Oh.

Giovanni Romano is on because his wife Lauretta called, Giovanni was having lunch on Sundays.

I never work a big hug to both of you and all the viewers. Thank you very much.

which, that which I thought was quite interesting as we had just been to Italy.

The one thing about Giovanni

I noticed, because it was the first time we met him, he did make a very big and I suppose deep impression.

Now, I made a joke because

Giovanni, you seem to be very similar to me in many, many ways.

In fact, I actually thought that Giovanni may have been me

from the future who had travelled back in time to tell me

not to not to make certain mistakes.

But it wasn't so.

Giovanni, it was a pleasure meeting you and also Laurie Franco ten.

Yeah, I know I'm good. Who, who? Who else? Steve.

Who else? Steve, you were on our trip.

And sometimes we do get confused, slightly confused.

But it was absolutely incredible. We had the most amazing time.

I know we keep talking about it, but it was a wonderful experience.

Brad, I tak for Dan in Turkey is saying that they have the best

bread, and, they're inviting us over, because they cook their own bread.

So, yes, we have been to Turkey on several occasions.

If you didn't know that, we had a holiday.

Two holidays, at least two holidays in Turkey. Yes. Mr. Duncan's done some lessons there.

Well, I'm. I made a whole lesson.

There was a whole lesson on my YouTube channel that I made in Turkey all about going on holiday.

So I think we've covered most of what we did and the things we saw.

Even though I do feel as if we've missed a lot of it out

because there was so many things going on, a lot of the things were were happy.

We did have 1 or 2 problems, mainly because of me, with my big

long body falling over and getting into all sorts of

difficult situations.

But, but but generally I would say, Steve, that it was good.

It was a good trip. Overwhelmingly positive.

You're always going to get, challenges, let's call them challenges when you go on holiday.

But we did not have a boring holiday.

It was not a typical British holiday where you go abroad, sit on the beach, get sunburned, eat and drink too much.

meeting people, making friends is was the highlight of the holiday.

And, I think they'll all be friends for life.

And, that's what will be memorable about the holiday.

In the end.

It's always about people because we're human beings and we're very sociable.

And, really, if you haven't got other people in your life, other human beings,

and you're making friends, what's the point?

Okay. Has nobody want to be on their own?

So I would say the key is food and friendship.

Food and friendship.

Those those are the important things. Giovani says. You know me very well.

Well, every time, every time I clean my plate now with the bread,

I will always think of you, Giovani and your.

Your little shoe.

That's what you called it. So?

So if you wipe the sauce off your plate with the bread, they call it the little shoe.

And that's what I'm always going to remember every time I, I have my food.

And if I use some bread on the plate, I will always think of that time.

And Giovanni, with his little shoe,

I'll tell you something that was very expensive in Turkey.

Yeah.

Was the taxes, they were very, very expensive.

I'm sure I could have hired a car for an entire day for less than we paid for some of the taxes,

but I think we were probably being ripped off a bit.

The thing is.

Of course, I think.

I think they are doing something that they have to do because it's seasonal.

So taxi drivers in that particular region might not get much work out of season.

So they have to make their income during the summer months when the tourists are all arriving.

So I think that is the reason why.

So maybe they are charging quite a lot,

but but they are trying to make a living during a very short period of time.

So out of season they probably don't have much, much work to do.

Certainly made their money out of us, they said.

But but think of all the things.

Think of all the wonderful things we were able to see because of that taxi driver.

I know, I know, we were charged €30 for a ten minute taxi drive.

Yes, and one and two occasions.

But I didn't like to argue because you know, you don't know who you are. Hahaha.

Mind you, having said that, we.

But we stopped going to that because time is running out. Yes. Well, now you're the one that keeps talking.

The origins of English and some of the influences that might come from,

from Latin, because I suppose we could talk about that because we were in Italy last week.

Sheep shearing was taking place last week.

Unfortunately, we were not here to see it, so I thought I would show the video

that I filmed last year when the sheep were being sheared here in Much Wenlock.

And that the second video was yesterday when we were walking around and we noticed that

many of the farmer's fields have not been used this year because of the terrible weather we've been having.

We had a lot of water, a lot of mild weather, and many of the farmers could not use their land.

So where normally there would be crops growing,

there was actually poppies coming up out of the ground instead.

So I couldn't resist showing those to you as well.

English Addict is with you on this Sunday.

A little bit different today because we are on earlier.

Mr. Steve will be going out in a little while for his rehearsal,

and I thought it'd be interesting to take a quick look, just a very quick look.

Nothing too deep, nothing to

taxing for my brain anyway.

And I thought it would be interesting to take a look quickly at the influence of Latin on English.

So this is very brief, and I was interested to take a look at this and have a deep look at it.

So here is a brief explanation.

Excellent explanation.

I wish I could speak.

Of how it works.

Although English is viewed as Germanic, there are instances of Latin influence.

Two so you might find in the English language.

Even though we often look at English as being one particular thing with one definite influence,

there are other influences as well that come into play.

So you might look at Greek, of course,

where many words stem from, and of course Latin as well.

Much of the influence is in direct when we are talking about the Latin influence on the English language.

So if something is indirect, it means it has not come straight from that point.

Normally it goes somewhere else first and then it comes to you.

So much of the influence is indirect, coming via those who had contact with Roman people.

So when we talk about people who have contact during the times, of course, when the Romans invaded

this country, local people would have contact with Roman citizens or Roman soldiers,

and some of the word usage would be transferred or adapted or adopted.

So that is one of the other reasons why you might find Latin

has has quite an influence on the English language.

Again, not directly,

indirectly.

Many words used today in English derive from Latin words borrowed from Greek.

So you might find that words that come from the Greek language were adopted

by the Romans and were introduced into Latin, and then of course, later,

as some of that influence spread to this country, to us that influence also carried on.

So that is why you will find a lot of Latin

has has been absorbed into the English language,

but even so, much of that originated in Greek.

Original religious text was first translated into Greek, which in turn influenced Latin.

So you might say that there is a route that is taken in that particular situation.

You might find that there is a certain way in which these things happened.

Much of the Latin influence on English exists in the grouping or naming of things existing in nature.

So you might find that Latin is used quite often in things connected to science.

Or maybe the words have been adopted to, to form

other words or to be part of words.

So I think it is fair to say that the influence of Latin

is not always, or for most of the time it is not direct.

Some names of parts of the human body derive from Latin.

And I know before anyone, says Mr.

Duncan, most of the parts of the body derived from Greek words.

I know that, but you will find also there is a lot of Latin in there as well.

So the Latin words we are talking about, such as abdomen, this area of your body where your belly is,

your humerus, which of course is the upper arm,

the bone also inside the arm as well the oculus.

When we talk about oculus we are referring to site or the the eyes

tibia, tibia once again is part of the body.

It is in your leg.

And also we have femur femur as well.

The femur,

the long thigh bone which of course

looks a little bit like a flute.

And that is the reason why it is called a femur.

It is actually named after a flute, because it looks a little bit like one of those musical instruments.

Then we have the digits, which of course is used in a lot of words connected to the fingers.

Then we have the cerebrum, the cerebrum refers to your brain.

We have caput.

Now this is an interesting one because caput is the Latin word

for head, hence the word cap.

A covering, or maybe a small covering for something is often referred to as a cap,

and that is derived from the word caput, which is for your head once again in Latin.

Then we have orris, orris.

Can you guess what Orris is referring to?

I'll give you a clue.

And then we have corpuscle.

Corpuscle, of course, small cells quite often referred to when we are talking about blood blood corpuscles.

So you can see there is a lot of influence in general terms on the English language

and terms that we use to describe certain things.

It would be fair to say that much of the influence of Latin on English is lexical in nature.

That means that parts of Latin have been absorbed into the words, and that is why you will see

quite often in certain words, there is an influence of Latin, the word animal,

for example, is often used in different ways, and that derives from Latin as well.

So Latin shapes the forms of English words.

They are not necessarily taken directly from Latin, but there is an influence on the language,

and certainly in the way certain terms or words are formed.

The most common root, of course, is Greek,

where we we often find many words, especially relating to nature or parts of the human body.

We often find that they are derived from the Greek language.

So I do find it quite interesting that even though Latin is a language that many people have heard of,

there isn't as much influence on English as as we might be led to believe.

I hope that's interesting.

Anyway, it's something I wanted to mention at the end of our conversation about Italy.
