UNCONVENTIONAL vs CONVENTIONAL - It's time to Learn English

Hi, everybody.

Here I am, out and about on a very hot day.

I have to say.

It is scorching hot.

It is blistering hot.

It is absolutely boiling today.

I couldn't resist coming outside to say

hello And I am wearing my shorts today.

I've decided to be completely unconventional.

That's a great word. By the way.

If you are unconventional, it means you do things

slightly differently from everyone else.

It is a different way of doing things,

so I'm wearing my shorts.

However, I would never go into a classroom

dressed in my shorts because the students

might not respect me so much.

However, you might see or even notice

these days that many people are not dressing

so formally as they used to,

or as smart as they used to.

Have you noticed that?

Well, I definitely have noticed that.

So I suppose in this day and age,

are you enjoying the helicopter?

Helicopter.

That is a very low helicopter,

by the way.

That enjoy that spontaneous moment?

There's another word for you.

Spontaneous, Something that happens without warning

that was spontaneous.

So as I was saying, wearing shorts in the classroom

might not be allowed unless, of course, you

are a teacher in a very hot country

and in which case you might actually do that.

You might decide to go into the classroom

wearing just your shoes,

your shorts and maybe a vest.

Imagine that.

Imagine if I appeared one day in one of my video

lessons wearing a vest.

You could see all of the parts of my body

bulging through at the sides.

Not a pretty sight, I have to say.

So when we talk about things that are acceptable

or maybe things that are possibly unacceptable,

a person might be conventional

and they follow all of the norms

or they might be unconventional.

They don't follow all of the rules,

although they don't break the important ones,

which of course is very good when you think about it.

I am going now to continue my walk.

I might even have a drink of water because it is hot.

It's 27 degrees today.

It's very hot.

I feel...

Oh, so sticky.
