you but these weeks are going by so quickly here we go again hello there fancy seeing

you here today what are you doing here ah long time no see it's been a week exactly

since we were here together here we are once again it's mr. Duncan live on YouTube ah they

said it couldn't be done they said it would never work but here I am almost 11 years later

still here talking to you and today we are live for those who have not joined me before

hello welcome my name is Duncan and I have been teaching English right here on YouTube

for the past 10 years but next week we will be approaching our 11th year can you believe

it I will have been broadcasting on YouTube for 11 years and that is on the 31st of October

so on October the 31st I will be celebrating my 11th year I can't believe that I've been

on YouTube for 11 years but it's true I've been here and we have lots of people today

now here is a name that I I try to read out many many times and there it is can you see

it now normally when I read this name out I normally read it wrong and I didn't realize

that I've been reading this name out incorrectly for so long so now I have been pronouncing

as nogen now apparently I should be pronouncing it as win apparently the the English pronunciation

of this is this so thank you to all those who wrote to me or who have been writing to

me for the past few months saying mr. Duncan you always get this name wrong so apparently

instead of saying nguyen i should actually be saying win i must admit the vietnamese

language is is quite confusing especially when you try to read certain names and apparently

this particular name in vietnamese is very very common a lot of people have this name

it's true moving on to other things this morning oh the weather this morning it's a beautiful

day here is the view that greeted me this morning this is the view from my window when

i woke up this morning I looked out the window in that is what I saw you might be able to

see the trees swaying from side to side that is because it is very windy at the moment

we have been experiencing some very strong winds yesterday we had storm Brian can you

believe it we had a storm yesterday called Brian now I'm waiting patiently for storm

Duncan can we have storm Duncan I wonder if they will ever name a storm after me I'm not

sure also a big question today that I must answer what color are mr. Duncan's socks today

my socks are pink blue and yellow they are very bright and cheerful just like me so for

those wind what my socks look like today there they are just for you and I don't like to

start my live stream on a sad note but we do have some sad news today sadly we've had

to say goodbye to the Bulls can you see the field at the back of my house it is now empty

there is nothing there the last bulls were taken away three days ago so now all of the

Bulls have gone look at the field it looks so lonely and deserted it's not very nice

really is it so I was feeling a little bit sad today but at least there is one reminder

can you see it there is a little reminder of the Bulls one of their poops that they've

left for me so I will always remember them bye bye Bulls bye bye also I have to say goodbye

to my soapy soap this is my lovely soap that has been keeping me clean for the past few

weeks and yesterday sadly my soap decided to break up and fall apart so I'm feeling

very sad this week so I had to say goodbye to the Bulls and also I had to say goodbye

to soapy soap oh my lovely soap I was sad isn't it isn't it hard sometimes to say goodbye

I hate saying goodbye I don't like saying goodbye to people and I certainly don't like

saying goodbye to the Bulls because of course we all know where they are going they are

going oh [Music] dear not very nice at all we have lots of things coming up today in

a while we we'll be going into the kitchen in a short while we will be in the kitchen

myself and also mr. Steve talking of mr. Steve we also have mr. Steve coming at three o'clock

today so mr. Steve will be here at 3 o'clock live in the studio but shortly we will be

going into the kitchen to make something nice to eat now this particular piece you will

see is not live it is recorded but it is something fun for you to watch hopefully also we have

the mystery idioms today don't worry I haven't forgotten all about the mystery idioms they

will be coming very soon a lot of people love to look at the mystery idioms anything else

to mention oh yes there is something last week during my livestream I had one viewer

watching in a place that I've never ever mentioned before and that place is called Endora now

last week I had one person watching me in Endora do you want to know how long they watched

me fall they watched me for a whole 26 seconds it's true so can I say a big hello to my viewer

in Endora who watched me last week for 26 seconds and then decided to go away and watch

something else that's not very nice is it would you like to have a look at one of my

dunk tober lessons now way back in 2013 I decided to make some special lessons to celebrate

October and I made a special series of lessons in fact I created a new lesson every single

day so this was during October and 13 and I called these special lessons 31 days of

October so let's have a look at one of those lessons right now and this is taken from day

day 23 of 31 days of dunk Toba how are you on this new day I hope you are fine and dandy

well it's all back to normal today I hope you enjoyed yesterday's studio tour and thank

you very much for your kind messages some of which we will take a look at later the

weather right now is not too good here in England today is a showery day this means

that there are sudden bursts of heavy rain of all the weather conditions that exist I

think I dislike the rain most of all there is nothing worse than getting caught in a

rainstorm you get soaked to the skin the rain has soaked right through your clothes luckily

today I have my brolly with me heavy rain can be described as falling like

cats and dogs what a strange phrase oh the weather is terrible it's raining cats and

dogs it's pouring down it's raining buckets it's chucking it down do you get much rain

where you live do you like being out in the rain a wet thing can be described as soggy

it has become sodden it is wet through it is soaked it is drenched it is saturated it

is wringing wet if you ever mentioned England to anyone there is a good chance that they

will mention the rain of course it does not always rain here in England but we do have

a fair share of it the wettest seasons of the year are spring and the autumn although

we can sometimes get very wet summers here too fortunately for me this summer has been

quite glorious and not too wet at all plenty of chances to go out and about with my camera

what a lovely summer it was it was it was it was it was it was [Music] the umbrella

has to be one of the most brilliant inventions ever it's such a clever device of course it

is not infallible or perfect on a windy day the umbrella can get caught by the breeze

and turn inside out or even worse blow away completely. That is all from me on this wet

there it was you just saw one of my dunk towba lessons that I made every day during October

in 2013 and did you see my shed that shed that you saw in the garden that has gone now

I I had a wonderful afternoon about three years ago smashing that shed to pieces I must

say it was very therapeutic smashing something to pieces with a hammer can make you feel

quite well in fact I was surprisingly relieved by the feeling of smashing my shed up I don't

like to hear about my viewers being unwell I've had a message today on the live chat

from ahmed Othman who says hello there last week I was feeling terrible I I had a lung

infection lung infection pneumonia a very serious illness especially if you are old

if you are very old and you get pneumonia it is an illness that affects your lungs you

can become very ill so last week during the whole week I was in hospital says our met

so I want to say to all of you guys please be careful and care about your health Thank

You Ahmed for that and I hope you are feeling better today because there is nothing worse

than feeling unwell so I hope you are feeling much better this week shall we have the mystery

idioms okay then I think that's a really really good idea so here they come the mystery idioms

and then we are going into the kitchen to make something delicious something nice to

eat so here we go today's mystery everyone loves the mystery idioms of course they do

so here is the first mystery idiom but what is it just say what you see so this is a well-known

expression a well-known idiom in the English language but what is it but of course I don't

just give you one mystery idiom I actually give you two to think about and here is the

second one so today's mystery idioms all you have to do is work out what the expression

is and the clues are in the pictures so there is the second one and there is the first one

they are both well-known expressions in the English language but what are they we went

out in the car yesterday mr. Steve and me we went for a journey we went to see mr. Steve's

mother who lives in a place called Banbury we were yesterday we were on the road and

there we are so this is some video footage that I actually filmed yesterday in the car

whilst driving to mr. Steve's mother and as you can see we are on the motorway driving

along the motorway I'm not sure how fast we were going but there we are in the car we

both look very serious mr. Steve looks very serious indeed look at mr. Steve's face he's

really concentrating on driving that car and there you can see in the opposite direction

lots of people were waiting because there was a traffic jam forming in the opposite

lane so there we are on the motorway yesterday driving and here we are coming back last night

so this is actually some video footage that I filmed whilst coming home late last night

so I think it's a very interesting scene not something you normally see during an English

lesson I'm sure a lot of people will be very very surprised because it will appear as if

we are driving on the wrong side of the road but I can assure you now we are not driving

on the wrong side of the road because here in the UK we drive on the left of the road

so we always drive on the left so that's why it looks very strange to see to see all of

the traffic going along the left-hand side of the road instead of the right so don't

worry there is nothing wrong we are not going in the wrong direction but I must say mr.

Steve looked very serious whilst driving in his car did you see his face it was very serious

I think he's concentrating you see on the road that's what he's doing so we were driving

back last night and the weather was really bad it wasn't raining but it was very windy

and there's nothing worse than trying to drive when there is a very strong wind blowing because

we had a big storm yesterday here in the UK storm Brian so do you like driving during

the stormy weather do you like driving at night because a lot of people don't like to

drive on the road during the evening or night or when it's dark so a lot of people don't

like driving on the road at night what about you do you have a car or maybe a motorbike

do you like to ride your motorbike or drive your car when it's very late or at night when

it's dark so quite a few people do not enjoy driving their cars when it is dark just HAFTER

where are we now just after 2:30 three it's Sunday the 22nd of October and now we are

going to do something very special we are going to go into the kitchen this is something

that we recorded a couple of days ago and we are in the kitchen preparing something

to eat something very delicious welcome to the kitchen it's mr. Duncan and a mr. Steve

so here we are in the kitchen what are we going to do we are going to make some tea

cakes but we're not actually making them we're going window we're going to put them in the

toaster we're going to toast them toast of the tea cakes that we have previously purchased

from a local bakery and here they are here are the tea cakes look at that are they gorgeous

too fresh tea cakes now so people think that tea cakes and hot cross buns are the same

thing but in fact in fact they are not they are not the same thing tea cakes are normally

larger and also they don't have the cross on the front also they are not as flavoursome

they don't have as much spice or Mehmedi zest inside them so normally lemon zest lemon zest

I love the lemon zest it's just a sweet bread with some currentl raisins added so the name

perhaps such a strong flavour is hot cross bun but they are still delicious they are

delicious so mr. Steve what do we need to do first we need to well these are frozen

and we've we've defrosted them we need to take them out of this academic we can't put

them in the toaster while they're inside that plastic bag now that I know pursue that would

be very silly you keep it so don't forget don't toast them in the back because the plastic

will melt and they will taste terrible so they freeze very well for once we bought them

fresh bread before too many and if we froze some of them and they are absolutely delicious

as you faucet red freezes very well as we all know and there they all look lovely look

at those lovely tea cakes so now mr. Steven iceberg mr. Steve is going to cut them right

in half careful I've got an armed with a sharp knife I'm not sure if we should trust mr.

Steve with a sharp knife so here we go I'm going to cut these in preparation for putting

in the toaster there we go that one that will strengthen in the toaster and I'll meanwhile

cut the other one in half so that we're raising because running better them we want to make

sure the right heart okay with the right ones and this one thing I've noticed with mr. Steve

when he's doing something he likes to bang things around and clang which is great for

real life but unfortunately on camera when you are listening at home it sounds dreadful

so try to do everything quietly if you can do it silently silently including them but

the voice can be big fine well they're going to take about two minutes to toast in there

so meanwhile should I get rid of with the the butter oh yes we're going to put some

lovely butter now you have to have but on your tea cakes there is some of the guys noticed

because the word better can actually be used in other ways as well is that true mr. Steve

that's very true yes butter is normally for spreading on bread and things like that but

it can be used by the way so here we go butter the word butter can be used in more than one

way for example it can be used as a verb in the phrase a butter up if you want to win

someone's favour or if you want to get someone on your side you might try to charm them by

doing something nice you butter them up you try to butter them up by being nice to them

so the phrase butter up means flattered a person or suck up to them for example I need

my friend to drive me into town tomorrow and I won't have to butter him up by treating

him to dinner to butter up a person means to flatter or charm someone so does it get

on that good side you ingratiate them butter or butter up now I could butter up to mr.

Duncan couldn't I you know I could tell mr. Duncan oh I'll go do that later I'll show

an example no I'll do it now Oh mrs. Joe Gargery butter up to mr. Duncan now mr. Dave how you've

got handy you look so slim having have you lost weight oh thank you I think mr. Steve

is trying to butter me up I think mr. Steve wants something so butter up means to flatter

someone or to ingratiate yourself to to creep around someone normally for a favor okay any

chance that I can you know appear on your show on Sunday no your office doesn't show

your Oh slim you're so good-looking this isn't okay come on I'm hungry right that pinging

sound meant that this out of the toaster and oh there we go mr. Duncan won't like that

one because it's bird you know my bird bones do you mr. doe I don't like my buns bird I

don't my buttons too Brown try not to bang around please stop banging it sounds terrible

on the camera mr. Duncan likes lots of butter on his tea cakes I would say where else but

he said relax I'm on the team upon these tea cakes I like I like my buns buttery right

there we go that's one done that's great that's good mr. Steve Thank You max that's right

there we go don't you know that what's happened to that it doesn't seem to matter there we

go there is the first tea cake it has been toasted and as you can see there is some butter

it is now melting on the tea cake so mr. Steve is now going to toast his tea cake by the

way just in case you have just joined us we are live well this isn't live but in a moment

a paper towel to wipe all the butter off so it's gonna be a long time we've got two minutes

please two minutes to wait before the next TK comes down to the toaster so well I know

what I'm I know what I'm going to do I need to eat yours it'll go cold I'm going to have

a bite of the tea cake to see how nice it is to see how well he nice please how well

mr. Steve has toasted this tea cake let's see okay mmm they go very nicely with a cup

of tea hence the name tea cake well actually it could be called a tea cake you have them

at tea time I think it's because you have one with a cup of tea which we have got already

but we can make afterwards fact I put the kettle on now while we're waiting no suit

yourself it's too noisy okay I can pretend pretend well no what are we 5 year olds right

don't yet I'll give it another 30 seconds mr. Steve likes his buns very brown brown

hmm these are delicious very nice mm-hmm very hot you know testers get very hot right there

is there is another type of there is another type of burn called a scone or star and they

are much smaller and normally they are made with pure butter or fat another way for a

burn is your buttocks yes your buttocks you call you but it burns so your buttocks or

your bum cheeks can be called buns now that normally comes from American English so if

you talk about someone's nice buns you might be talking about their bread but also you

might be talking about their little please sexy bottom okay mr. Steve so that could actually

yes it looks to me like a like someone's bottom that does that's good right you know but can

in the fridge otherwise it'll melt and go very quietly right so I'm ready to eat mine

now that's it we're going to eat our tea cakes I've already eaten half of mine thank you

used to drive a lorry Wow a big lorry or truck I used to drive a lorry at night and sometimes

I drove during the thunderstorms yes there is nothing worse than driving during the bad

weather a lot of people don't like driving at night it would appear judging by some of

the comments today lots of people don't like driving at night I think that elderly people

so if you are if you are elderly maybe in your seventies because you can still drive

here in the UK there are many many people driving their cars on the road and they are

not young let's just say let's say they are elderly and they still drive but many don't

like to drive at night they find it very disorientating let's say Francisco says I've already had

my breakfast today well you are very lucky I had my breakfast this morning but now I'm

very hungry indeed very peckish we will be looking forward to mr. Steve at 3 o'clock

your life we can also describe this as a turning point so you go from one way of living to

another because of some occurrence or some situation maybe something happens to you maybe

something good or maybe something bad happens have you had a life-changing experience we

in because we have been talking about food today what food goes together well as you

know I love eating food I am a big fan of eating as you saw in the video a few minutes

ago both myself and mr. Steve we do like eating sometimes we eat very healthy food and sometimes

we eat very unhealthy food quite a few people have already scolded me they've told me off

they said mr. Duncan you put too much butter on your tea cakes you shouldn't put so much

butter only put a little bit of butter not lots of butter because butter can be very

unhealthy but what types of food go together well for example strawberries in cream oh

my goodness yes strawberries and cream go together very well also another good example

English breakfast so you might have an English breakfast and I don't know about you but I

think that egg sausage baked beans oh my goodness and also toast go together very well so what

food goes together well maybe you have a special local dish maybe you have some local food

where you live that goes together very well I will be asking these questions to mr. Steve

later also today we have something special that you can join in with we have a special

contest some questions that I'm going to ask mr. Steve today we are going to play spot

the baldy baldy when we say ball d/b/a d i.e here it is here is the word baldy baldy is

an expression that means a person who has lost their hair or someone who has shaved

their hair off so now their hair has gone and all they have is a bald head so later

we will be taking a look at some famous bald heads some famous domes and all you have to

do is guess who the celebrity is just from their dome so let's have a look shall we let's

have a look at the first one just to give you a little bit of a clue here is the first

one or the list should I say so here they are these are famous celebrities famous people

but who are they so there are 1 2 3 4 5 famous bald people so all you have to do is guess

who the bald people are we will be taking a look at those with mr. Steve later on meanwhile

wearing a hat yes some people say that I wear a hat to cover up my bald head but in fact

I've always liked wearing hats so it's always been a thing so even when I had lots of hair

I used to wear a hat quite often so that's the reason why I wear a hat now not because

I am ashamed of my bald head because I'm not I love it if there's one thing worse than

losing your hair I think it's losing your teeth so if I had a choice between losing

my hair and losing a robot my teeth I think I would like to lose my hair I want to keep

when you convert this name or translate this name into English it is often pronounced as

on your world-famous english show now so pleased to be here first of all we were having some

fun in the kitchen earlier we were having a lot of fun we were making what were we making

ah we were toasting the tea cakes yes which we did earlier you've shown that already having

mr. Duncan okay yeah I have yet now we were told off now our one or two people on the

live cat one or two people in the live chat have actually complained they've they've said

mr. Steve and mr. Duncan you should take care of your health because you shouldn't have

too much butter on your tea cakes well there's no stopping you mr. Duncan because I think

you eat about three times as much butter as the average human being you I've seen you

put butter on tea cakes on bread and sugar lots of butter and lots of sugar and you do

now how many teaspoons of sugar mr. Duncan tasty wait a moment before you start this

character assassination on me I don't have as much sugar as I used to I've actually cut

down on the amount of sugar yes you've cut down by half a teaspoon and don't forget I

don't normally have butter on my sandwiches or on my tea cakes normally I have this this

special it looks like bitter but it isn't it's got some some plant extract inside so

it's supposed to be very good for you it's a it's supposed to to lower your cholesterol

so so I don't I don't always have butter on my sandwiches or on my tea cakes but but that

was a special occasion you see that special occasion tea cakes with a cup of tea getting

some compliments here about your shirt oh thank you you are you're dressed in black

you are the man in black oh I forgot to change I'm before I come here I'd have to do another

job I I I'm a waiter in a restaurant and I forgot to take this off I do apologize so

not only are you a grinder you are also a waiter I am a man of a few tenths I'm gonna

tell you what you are now do you know what you are mr. Steve no you're an idiot I'm an

idiot you you never been so insulted you are an idiot now I always thought that you were

quite intelligent I always thought mr. Steve pretty smart guy pretty smart cooking but

you did something yesterday didn't you you did something so stupid and I hardly it's

something that you've never done before I think you're referring to the just set the

scene for us set the scene set the scene yes okay so we were driving along we went to visit

my mother yesterday so I'm going to blame her for that what happened next and I thought

we were coming around from town with a nice little meal out and I thought oh I know it's

a long drive back to mr. Duncan's afterwards I better fill it with some fuel so well I've

got this diesel car and I've been driving this car is eight years old and I pull up

the forecourt in the petrol station and what do I do distracted I won't say by who but

instead of putting diesel in the car I put petrol in it instead oh so your car is a diesel

car a diesel car and in eight years I've it's always something you've got anybody out there

driving a diesel car you've always got to worry about putting the wrong fuel in every

time you go though yes that's diesel that's diesel that's diesel the diesel must go in

not petrol it's not a green one it's a black one yes that's right I'll check it about 10

times but yesterday I just went straight in picked up the petrol straight in luckily luckily

though mr. Duncan we were saved because I'd only put a small amount in so you realised

your mistake before it was too late instantly and I switched it for the put the the green

one back the petrol one took out the diesel and filled it up to dilute I'd only put as

it turned out I didn't know how much I'd put in the man in the garage said you'll be all

right you've only put less than a liter of diesel of petrol in there how can you confuse

again apparently if you only put a small amount in and you fill up your tank with diesel it's

alright less than five percent apparently and you're okay in the story driving back

even in the story the story that you're telling us now you're getting it mixed up even in

the story you can't do it the other way around I bet somebody out there has done that as

anybody out there put the wrong fuel in their car don't ask me ask ask directly there's

no camera I am I'd I am asking directly as anybody else done this because if you put

too much in you've got to call out somebody to flush your tank out and flush costs a lot

of money but thankfully I'd only put a little mound in apparently that's alright okay can

you tip can you just just take it take a deep breath and tell my so-so diesel what is the

difference between diesel and petrol well a diesel car relies on a high compression

in the engine oven below the actual substance what's the difference now it all comes from

oil it's just a different different part of the the fraction that comes off crude oil

when you refine it so when these are quitting when they bring when they bring the oil up

that they they convert it into more than one thing because I uh I'm also sometimes very

stupid now I I didn't realize I know that diesel and petrol temp from oil but but they

are actually different parts of the oil yes they take that they could take the crude oil

that boring everybody - I don't know the full details but you get the crude oil out of the

ground and it's fractioned which means it's heated up and then you get different different

chemicals carbohydrates coming off at different temperatures so the petrol is you know at

petrels like it's very flammable today so quite quickly today's word is car broke what's

it called bare hydrants yes well I think people know over me I didn't expect to go into this

much detail mr. Duncan but I just know that all about the petrochemical industry whoa

whoa it's very useful but this is useful to see it's it I don't I didn't really realize

that there was such a big difference I thought so so what happens then so if you have a diesel

car like you yes it runs on diesel it runs on diesel so you have to put diesel into the

fuel tank so what turns what happens if you put well if you put petrol in petrol isn't

designed to be burned in an engine at high compression so if you put the petrol in it

what it does is it stops the lubrication of the diesel engine and you get failure of the

fuel pump and then bits of metal go in there apparently and it wrecks the entire engine

oh my god that sounds do that over that sounds very expensive very expensive you're not supposed

to drive off the fork or but of course I'd only put a small amount in so it was fine

and we drove back didn't we mr. Duncan and it was perfectly all right we drove back but

you didn't look very happy because because were overseas worried both of us were expecting

the car to break down at any moment but fortunately it didn't we managed to get back okay so it

would appear that the car is okay so because you only put a small amount of diesel amount

in so we're out of petrol and the diesel that's all apparently I looked it up less than 5%

so if your tank holds 50 litres as long as you put no more than say 2 litres in then

then you'll be fine and the other nice thing the other nice thing was the man at the garage

was very at the forecourt where the petrol was being sold he was very helpful he said

it was alright but I didn't trust him so I looked it up anyway and it was fine about

it's very difficult very difficult in the UK at least I don't about other countries

to put diesel into a petrol engine because the size of the of the fuel pump the the nozzle

won't fit because the nozzle on a petrol is is is very narrow so that will fit into a

diesel but the diesel one's wider and that won't fit into the petrol so so the other

way around it's quite difficult to do but so that's quite good so if you put if you

put them not if you put the the pump in it whoa it won't actually go in deep it in it

won't fit in but whereas of course with the diesel on the petrol one will fit in because

it's narrower than that than the diesel nozzle so that was my problem yesterday and I'm sure

probably people are switching off right now well they are because they can't understand

what you're saying just just just just so I'm getting I'm getting lots of people saying

kitty-kitty-kitty please ask mr. Steve to slow down or we'll slow mr. steve has actually

mr. Stevens had two coffees stugots of coffee I've had two cups of coffee you're absolutely

right mr. Duncan and I'm buzzing I'm fairly buzzing with excitement you are something

so today what are we talking about today then stupid things that you've done so a mr. Duncan

have you shared with your viewers something stupid that you have done I never I never

do anything stupid well maybe inviting you onto this show just going to go home I think

well you don't have to go very far then I don't forget so everybody knows everything

about the petrochemical industry now how to out out of how to have to get crude oil out

of the ground and turn into petrol I've told everybody there we go that's it don't need

to look good so today's lesson was all about how to get I think what's going to happen

now a lot of people are going to go into their gardens and they're going to try and dig and

get some oil because because it's everywhere now hydrocarbon that bigger Boyd I was looking

for what's that hydrocarbon Mizar a carbon yes what what are those they're there are

chemicals made of hydrogen and carbon that is present very commonly in crude oil and

you get petrol diesel jet fuel plastic so they're well they do all sorts of things from

oil how does we live with that all it's a fascinating compound the whole of the modern

world wouldn't exist without crude oil it's true it's very it's very strange a lot of

people don't even realize that without oil you wouldn't have plastic wouldn't have anything

so all of the things now you try to think of all of the things that are made of plastic

and it's virtually everything we have and and that comes from oil it all comes from

oil now what most plastic we were talking about food earlier because we were in the

kitchen so today we're going to look at what food goes together well now I've already given

some examples we had strawberries and cream strawberries and cream yes and tennis playing

tennis at the same time not I'm not sure you can eat tennis at Wimbledon and I don't think

don't think tennis is food and also we had the English breakfast ah yes the English breakfast

mr. Steve so so when we say English breakfast what what food are we talking about we're

talking about bacon sausages fried or scrambled eggs we're talking about tomatoes grilled

tomatoes or fried tomatoes baked beans oh and what else goes on there mr. God fried

bread sometimes toast toast you have to have toast with with your English breakfast and

of course it some places you can go to some cafes or some some small food outlets and

they will do the breakfast all day so you can have an all-day breakfast so many people

can can enjoy their breakfast at any time of the day black pudding that's something

that sometimes goes in an English breakfast black pudding isn't that made with blood yes

that's the blood from an animal dried up and formed into her into a sort of a sausage like

thing and they slice it up and fry it very healthy but I'm sure there are lots of vegetarians

now have now vomiting everywhere a vegetarian English breakfast and they just replace all

the meat with their fish that's quite nice I've had one of those Nicole asks maybe mr.

Steve can answer this Nicole asks isn't it in what what is brunch brunch oh yes that's

that's in that somewhere between breakfast and lunch so if you have your breakfast so

you have your breakfast and then it's about maybe 11 o'clock in the morning yeah I feel

a little hungry I think I think if you've missed out breakfast altogether I think that's

when you have brunch so you have a late breakfast it's somewhere between breakfast and then

dinner so it's they call it brunch so it's a kind of it's a kind of breakfast and lunch

together yes I think it's in between and then you can still have lunch but you might have

lunch later say two o'clock so you might have eleven o'clock half 10 you might have brunch

there's not breakfast because that's too too late for breakfast it's not lunch because

it's too early for lunch so it's in between it's brunch it's a kind of combination or

so brunch is breakfast and lunch joined together yes we've have we have some here some apparently

TS TS Tia says fried rice rice rice with egg and vegetables I think so yes I like the sound

of that you like rice don't you yes I do like rice and something that is that that's a strange

combination that you think wouldn't go well together is rice and peas mmm and that's oh

that's white rice with the green peas you wouldn't think would go well together but

surprisingly it does garden peas garden peas of course when you say rice and peas for in

the Caribbean that means something different that means rice with beans or red kidney beans

oh I say that's what it's called rice and it said red kidney beans look like but they're

sort of dark Peas really aren't they ready pygmy beans so you mix them with rice you've

got rice and peas all this talk of food by the way is making me feel very very hungry

sand peas with with spicy jerk chicken oh yes I fancy some of that something here that

we have in the UK when people think of food in the UK or maybe just England a lot of people

think of one particular food can you think what it might be mr. Steve that must be fish

and chips yes Duncan yes a lot of people think that it's very traditional very traditional

to eat fish and chips and of course if you have fish and chips you also have to add some

salt and of course you must have some vinegar as well and don't forget the tomato sauce

so you can dip your chips into the tomato sauce so I think that food together very well

although it is rather unhealthy let's just say and they are on the continent on the rest

of Europe they they laugh at us about our unsophisticated in England when it comes to

culinary dishes because they've all got their sophisticated in France they've got and and

Italy they've got their sophisticated dishes they look upon us as sort of a bit backward

when it comes to comes to cooking and fish and chips is looked upon in other parts of

Europe was a bit of a bit of a junk food really yes that's that's actually quite interesting

certainly certain countries I'm not going to say who but certain countries have a very

negative attitude towards British food they think it's it's very I think the word is bland

some people think that British food is very bland and tasteless yes they do yet they do

I've got I've got friends from different countries and they never eat British food they will

say it's bland because it hasn't got spices in it you don't put many spices in it so obviously

lots of countries around the world add lots of spices to their food which of course is

why curries are so popular over here I mean even Chinese foods quite spicing away Thai

food has become very popular here in the UK because traditional British food meat potatoes

vegetables tends to be bland and we don't add much to it apart from a bit of salt yeah

it's a gravy it's interesting you mentioned Chinese food because there at the most Chinese

food is is not spicy but there is a certain part of China called Sichuan Sichuan and it's

very famous for its hot curry fied a very spicy soup and different types of food that

they just put lots and lots of chili into and I did try it when I was in China I did

try some of the Sichuan food and it's just too hot I I couldn't stand it he was far too

hot it literally burned it burnt a hole in the back of my neck it was that spicy it's

terrible so I'm not a big fan of spicy food I do like now garlic there's a good one garlic

goes with lots of things you do like your garlic mr. Duncan it is true yes fact even

from here I can smell garlic on your breath because mr. Duncan often has breath that smells

of garlic because he virtually has it with everything that he eats it's true yesterday

I had a lovely I had a lovely lasagne yesterday and that had loads of garlic Mika odhh who

is watching in Japan says rice and salmon oh yes we know all about that we know all

about that in fact we're gonna be eating that later yes it's our meal dice and salmon every

Sunday we have salmon with rice also sweet potatoes so here is a suggestion here is a

little suggestion something you might want to try yourself so lovely Alaskan salmon with

some white rice also some sweet potatoes and we like to put serve some peas into the into

the rice so he goes together goes together and also on the side we also put what what

else do we put spinach oh yes spinach spinach which goes surprisingly well with rice and

fish particularly yes it's amazing how many people hate spinach they don't like it but

it goes I like to put it in pasta sauces because spinach is very good for you and vegetables

are often a bit of a pain to eat but you can add them into sauces so you're getting here

you're getting your healthy vegetables but you've got a nice sauce with it like a pasta

sauce or a spicy sauce like vegetable curry or vegetable chow mein as which is delicious

so yeah you don't have to eat well we don't eat much meat anyway so what there is there

is someone called random reviews hello random reviews reviews is that mr. random or mrs.

random or mrs. random random reviews says the UK has a lot of spicy food apparently

there is a burger that you can buy in Brighton it's just gone off the screen wait there a

burger in Brighton that is so hot that people have to sign legal disclaimers I have to sign

a legal document before eating it just in case it kills them yeah just in case their

head explodes because it's so hot thank you for that demonstration of how a head would

explode mr. Duncan that's very funny I try my best but it's all spicy food has really

come in since about you know in the 1970s it started to become very popular in the UK

but before then it was just the traditional fairly bland British food which was meat potatoes

and vegetables yes I can understand I can understand why people would say that I can

see why they would think that English food is bland but of course we have a lot of influence

now from other countries another one of course is Thai food yep gorgeous yeah lots and lots

of Thai restaurants serving Thai food and of course the famous it's green green soup

is it Thai green a Thai green curry oh yes my green curry so there it's like it's like

a green sauce but but it's it's very very strong I don't know what makes it green wonder

what makes it green I wonder if anybody knows what makes Thai green source Oh Thai green

curry green must be some kind of vegetable yes I think so the answer to that one all

mister don't can I tell you something which goes very well together hmm as well which

I discovered myself and I want to patent it and it's chocolate any type of chocolate milk

chocolate preferably and wine gums chocolate and wine and wine gums so you put some chocolate

in your mouth let that melt of it and then put a wine gum in at the same time the two

together wow that is that is like heaven it's a bit like a sweet cocktail of sweets foods

so you put a wine gum and then you put the chocolate in it so which way round is that

the chocolate first then the wine gum or the wine gum and then I don't think it matters

actually on second thoughts it's probably better to put the wine gum in first chew it

a bit because that will take a bit longer to dissolve so put the wine gum in first probably

two or three any colors really and then stuff the chocolate in as well and let it all melt

and mix in together I'll tell you if somebody needs to produce that as a sweet chocolate

covered wine gums the word wine gum so a wine gum is a type of sweet it it's normally fruit

flavoured sort of jelly it's very chewy very chewy so wine gum and then you put some chocolate

in your mouth and you let the chocolate melt and apparently so so how does it taste it

tastes like you would expect a combination chocolate of wine goes but somehow the two

together it's just oh I could even literally I could just need a whole packet of them just

stuff them all in with a chocolate sit there watch your film it's great and then I didn't

realize you were such a glutton well the trouble with sugar is it's very addictive and once

you start doesn't matter I think people say our chocolate addictive I think it's the sugar

that's addictive in in in lots of food so I think you become actually addicted to the

sugar so whatever sugar is contained in whatever foods have got sugar and I think you become

addicted because of the sugar I know chocolate spoke to it's supposed to be addictive as

well but I think it's the sugar so yes once you start that's it and then it's off to the

hospital because you've become diabetic well that is the problem well that's what I always

say this is this is my biggest complaint about food why why is all the delicious food so

unhealthy yes with the food with the most sugary nor the most fat in is usually has

the most flavor you never hear anyone suffering a heart attack due to eating too many carrots

true well it depends what they do with the carrot I suppose if you eat too many carrots

your skin goes yellow Oh yep really in goes yellow because the the pigment in carrots

which is called carotene because carotene isn't it beta-carotene or carotene there are

lots of other types of carotene but if you eat too many carrots then your body can't

get rid of it so it's but it goes into your skin too and become you and your eyes can

go yellow as well I don't think it's it's not unsafe as such but you can take it that

has happened to me I used to drink carrot juice maybe but maybe that's maybe that's

the reason why but maybe that's the reason why Donald Trump looks the way he does maybe

he likes just eating a lot of carrots yes so too many carrots carrot juice anything

with with with that kind of red colouring red or orange coloration in fruit or vegetables

will make your skin go yellow if you have too much of it everywhere everyone's complaining

now by the way I'm getting so many complaints could could you please stop talking about

food how because you are making me very hungry lots of people are saying please stop talking

about food okay then let's stop talking about the coughing in chocolate I'm getting one

else coffee in chocolate that goes well together we can't stop him now maca that's a nice drink

it's a combination of chocolate and coffee in one drink a maca maca maca is maca is that

like is that like brunch no is that like two words oh I don't you mean yes so so what what

is the maca so it's coffee and what coffee and chocolate okay that in a drink but it's

not as nice as you think shouldn't that be caca that's something else maca doesn't make

sense if it's chocolate if it's chocolate and and coffee or coffee and chocolate it

should be it should be caca they call it a market they probably don't call it caca food

because of obvious reasons and they call it maca what a shocker cuz I have can I have

a small Chaka it's maca is it's best to have the chocolate and the coffee separately and

eat the chocolate it's not as nice when it's in a drink oh here we go there's also something

called mocha Chino mocha Chino which I guess whose chocolate coffee with with the frothy

top so it's like a cappuccino but it has a whole dirt and coffee about the sound of that

do you I do I think so let's talk about something else now because we have been talking a lot

about food and B between you and me I'm feeling very hungry so here's another one bling mr.

Steve yes mr. Duncan mr. Steve have you ever had a life-changing experience something that's

happened to you in your life that has changed the way you live or maybe your attitude or

maybe just your everyday comings and goings ah well I haven't had anything dramatic you

usually think of life-changing events as as really serious events that change your life

forever but I suppose maybe I've led a boring life or an uneventful life but I would say

when I first went to see Shirley Bassey oh oh I'm sorry sorry can I just watch sorry

wait wait there Steve went there Steve is he cutting me off don't I will have to cut

you off in a second can we just can I just warn everyone that mr. Steve is about to talk

about Shirley Bassey again only briefly this is this is no longer a Shirley Bassey free

zone we have Shirley Bassey conversation coming up so if you don't want to hear about Shirley

Bassey apparently there is there is a baby falling into a dog bowl on one of the other

live YouTube channels so so you can go and watch that for a while whilst mr. Steve talks

about Shirley Bassey so this is your life-changing moment well I think it's it's when you go

to see an artist a singer an actor and they can inspire you so I went to see Shirley basses

just the most amazing live performer that I decided from that moment onwards I was about

18 that I would look at mr. Duncan he's bored stiff I would sing I wanted to sing myself

because I was so inspired by that and well that happens to lots of people that's how

they go on x-factor they're inspired by somebody to do that very same thing themselves and

that happened to be a man I'm not a famous singer by any means but it inspired me to

do that so yes that probably was a life-changing event I would say wake up mr. Duncan oh you

are already broken up yes I do a very good impression of actually being asleep whilst

still awake I paint eyes on my eyelids that's how I do it you see what about you mr. Duncan

what has been a life-changing event for you I would have to say that there are a couple

of life-changing events one of them happened when I was very young and that was the first

time that I had to go to school and the first time that I had to wave goodbye to my mother

as I went towards the the new school so so when I first started going to school my my

mother took me to the school gates and and this is one of my earliest memories and I

would say they think was a very life-changing moment because from that moment in time I

realized that my mother would not always be near me so that's one of them also fast forward

a few years I think going to China of course for those who are familiar you will know that

I did work in China for many years as an English teacher so that must be I think that must

be one of the biggest life-changing experiences that I've had because of course I got to experience

a different culture I got to learn or I tried to learn a new language not very successfully

but I did live there for many years and I had a window time I learned a lot about other

people but uh but most of all most importantly of all I learned a lot about myself and my

attitudes towards people and also to life also I I didn't take things so much for granted

as I used to because I realized that there were people living with much much worse lives

than myself it's so easy these days to complain about things but there are people genuinely

having horrible horrible lives so yes I think it taught me a lot of by myself it it showed

me humility I think I learned humility that's one of the things I really did learn when

I was working in China definitely so yes I would say that going to China working in China

was definitely a life-changing experience not least of all because I started making

my youtube videos in 2006 so next week we will be getting ready to celebrate my 11th

year on YouTube so I must say going to China changed my life in many ways in fact had I

not gone to China I wouldn't be here now doing this I think it's fair to say true and I wouldn't

be appearing on your show either because it wouldn't exist so many things wouldn't have

happened I wouldn't be here now were it not for my my experience working in China I think

so Luke Luciano says Mr Duncan it are you at oh he is a Chinese citizen no I'm not I

never became a Chinese citizen I think it's very rare I think I can safely say it's very

rare for anyone outside China to become a Chinese citizen in fact I think it it hardly

obviously they must be dyeing their hair because there's no way you can have a full head of

brown or black hair when you're in your sixties or seventies but is that is very interesting

when they start to lose their hair they start to wear small wings so as they get older and

as their hair gets thinner and thinner they wear a large wig there so they wig gets larger
