so I had a couple of choices if I can't take my studio outside then I suppose I

will have to bring the outside into my studio

don't worry there is nothing wrong with your

calendar it is Monday I can assure you and this is a very special live English

just for you hi everybody this is mr. Duncan in England how are you today are

you okay I hope so are you happy I really really hope so

I'm here on a Monday I know it is very unusual you are thinking to yourself why

is mr. Duncan here on Monday well the reason is for those who were trying to

watch my livestream yesterday I wasn't there I wasn't streaming at all

yesterday the only streaming that was taking place

yesterday was from my nose because I was suffering from hay fever yesterday

really really badly I can't begin to tell you how unwell I felt yesterday

it's my fault really I know it's my fault because on Saturday

I went for a very long walk with mr. Steve we took a lovely walk and we went

across many fields and at the moment the grass is starting to pollinate so the

pollen is being released into the air and the pollen gets right up your nose

so if you suffer from hay fever you will find that certain types of pollen will

go into your nose and into your throat and your eyes and make you become very

very unwell I am one of those unfortunate people sadly I am

unfortunate because I do suffer with hay fever every single year so that is what

was happening yesterday I was in bed I couldn't move I was feeling so unwell

that is the thing if you have never suffered with hayfever you have no idea

how it feels it is absolutely horrible your eyes hurt

your throat is sore and you sneeze and your nose is running and you feel really

unwell it's like having a very bad cold so that was my situation yesterday and

oh can I just say thank you very much to all those who left lovely messages on my

facebook yesterday and there it is there is the post that I left yesterday thank

you very much to all those who left lovely messages Rizwan and also wafer

take medicine mr. Duncan I did take some medicine also Sultana and mica mica said

I'm sorry to hear that mr. Duncan is ill I wish all the pollen around you will go

away yes I was in bed yesterday feeling very unwell also Rita Thank You Rita for

stream yesterday so for that I do apologize it is very hard to notify

everyone if there is a problem with the live stream so I do apologize for that

I'm ever so sorry it's ten minutes past two o'clock and it's Monday afternoon

not Sunday it is Monday the 11th of June of course everyone at the moment is

talking about the big summit that is taking place tomorrow in Singapore just

off the coast of Singapore a little island called Sentosa a very beautiful

place as well very nice Singapore is quite a nice place to visit if you ever

get the chance to go there so tomorrow we see the summit taking place between

Donald Trump and Kim Jong hoon of North Korea and of course president moon of

South Korea everyone taking part tomorrow in the summit what will be the

result I wonder what the result will be we will have to find out we will see

what the agenda is now there is an interesting word agenda the agenda is

the thing that you are planning to do or you are planning to talk about or

discuss so the agenda is the plan that you have the agenda it's a great word

also there is a slightly more sinister sentence which is hidden agenda if

someone has a hidden agenda it means they have a

secret plan or a motive that no one knows about so there is another

interesting use of the word agenda you can have a hidden agenda hidden agenda

so that is a plan a plan that is unknown or only known to the person who is

making the plan they have a hidden agenda hmm

there is a lovely plant in my garden at the moment I haven't been outside today

because my hay fever would start killing me basically but here is something I

filmed last week and here is a very interesting plant in my garden do you

know the name of this plant it has a very interesting name and it is one of

the many plants in my garden so do you know what it is it has a very

interesting name and the name refers to its appearance the way it looks so do

you know what this plant is do you know maybe a little bit later on you can let

the medicine that you take for your hay fever make you feel drowsy or sleepy yes

been taking some medicine for my hay fever and yes you are right it does make

you sleepy it makes you feel very sleepy and tired you are right thanks for that

world as everyone watches the events in Singapore Donald Trump will be meeting

with the leaders of Korea that is north and I believe South Korea will be there

as well in Singapore so I'm sure a lot of people

will be very interested in that news story I think so I really think so

the kitchen and it will be mr. Steve and also myself sadly there is no mr. Steve

today because he's busy working just like me so there is no mr. Steve but I

thought it would be fun to have a look at one of our classic moments in the

kitchen so here we go back in time to something

we did about three months ago do you remember when we were cooking pizza in

the kitchen oh hello there welcome to mr. Duncan's kitchen once more for

another tasty snack and guess what we are having tonight mr. Steve and myself

we are going to enjoy a lovely pizza but not a homemade pizza I will confess that

the pizza we are about to eat has been bought from the shops in fact it is a

frozen pizza so if there are any people out there who are very keen on making

their own pizzas I do apologize but that's what we're doing tonight we're

having pizza and also some baked beans I know I know I know what you're going to

say you're going to say mr. Duncan you always have baked beans do you live on

baked beans you seem to have baked beans all the time do you fart a lot how Dave

so here we go then let's get on with the meal first of all we need to put some

beans into the saucepan so that's what we're doing first we have our tin of

beans there we go a lovely tin of baked beans now these

aren't the expensive baked beans these are the cheap baked beans because

between you and me I don't know if you've noticed this but I always find

that the very cheap baked beans tastes just as good as the very

expensive baked beans I'm sure you know which brand I'm talking about yes that

one 57 varieties so I always buy the very

cheap baked beans these are very cheap and you can buy these in multi packs so

not just one you get a packet with four four tins of beans and they are very

good value indeed can you see what I've got here as well this is the thing that

I'm going to use to stir I will stir the beans with this this is called a spatula

that's a very strange word spatula so there it is there is my spatula it looks

like something for beating someone maybe across the head or the bottom but it

isn't it is a spatula so first of all I will open the tin of beans and I don't

like opening tins of beans especially nowadays because they have this annoying

ring pull can you see there a ring pull so you have to get your finger

underneath the rim to open the cap and I always think that these are quite

dangerous because after you open the tin the edge of the lid is very sharp and in

the past I have actually cut my fingers I've cut my fingers in the past with one

of these so let's open the tin of beans first of all I don't like doing this to

be honest I am NOT a fan of opening these

okay now I will try not to cut my fingers doo-doo-doo just pull the ring

it's not as easy as it looks

yeah that's it I think we've got it there it is okay it's like it's like

some sort of weapon look at that it looks very lethal so now I will pour the

beans into the saucepan excuse me

putting the beans in the saucepan come on then you get get in

I love these beans because they they are so thick look you get so many beans in

the can look how many beans you get that that I think that is very good value so

there isn't much sauce but you do get lots of beans so look at that now I will

gently and I repeat gently heat the beans up you should never boil the beans

never let them boil because it will spoil the tastes so I will put I will

put the beans on a low light and then they will gently heat up and now we have

to sort out the star of the show which is of course the pizza pizzas are lovely

do you like pizzas I am crazy about pizzas I I do like the ones that have

lots of different types of meat on but mr. Steve isn't very keen on those so

there it is you may have seen mr. Steve and myself walking her

the other week with this pizza so we had this pizza the other week we bought it

from the local supermarket and it's been in the deep freeze for quite a long time

so there it is our super duper four cheese pizza hmm it's making me

hungry just thinking about it so before I put this in the oven I have to put

something on this baking tray so there it is a baking tray you normally put

things on this when you want to bake something in the oven if you want to

heat something up and you want it to heat evenly you normally use a baking

tray so on the bottom of the baking tray I'm going to put some foil foil and this

particular foil is made it's made from can you see it it's made from aluminium

aluminium in American English they pronounce this word aluminum aluminum

but in British English we say aluminium and there it is aluminium so I will put

some aluminium foil on the baking tray

I didn't make a very good job of that we have the baking tray

isn't that beautiful it's very shiny you can see the light reflecting off the

foil once in my face now just to make sure that the pizza doesn't stick I'm

going to put a little bit of olive oil on the foil I'm putting I'm putting

olive oil on the foil so when the pizza starts to boil it won't spoil

just a little bit of oil that's all you need just a little oil now because this

particular pizza is pre-prepared and frozen it will take about 20 minutes to

cook in the oven so the oven has to be very hot for the pizza to to bake so

when you put the pizza in the oven the cheese has to melt and the base of the

pizza has to bake and normally it takes around about 20 minutes but it's very

important to make sure that the oven is very hot and you always bake the pizza

at the top of the oven at the top always put the pizza at the top of the oven so

let's open the piece set look at that doesn't that look lovely look at that

oh it's Pizza time baby

I will take the plastic off the pleat sir it's very important that you

remember to take the plastic off you must remove the plastic or else you

might have a very chewy pizza the plastic is very firm it's very difficult

to cut I will use some scissors so there it is there is the pizza ready to go in

the oven you have cheese on top you have a selection of cheese there is also some

tomato puree and inside the crust there is also some tomato sauce as well some

spicy tomato sauce so now I will put this in the oven there I just put it on

the tray and then put the tray and the pizza in the oven

so the pizza is now baking the cheese will melt and the base will start to

bake it will take about 20 minutes I will bake this for 10 minutes and then I

will turn the pizza round to make sure that it is cooked evenly on both sides

the beans are now heating up slowly and I'm going to put whoa can you guess what

this is it smells very strong and if you eat this normally your breath will smell

quite bad yes of course it is our old friend

garlic hello garlic how are you today garlic I love garlic so much I think

it's probably because my ancestors were French it's true so on my father's side

I'm actually a French descent did you know that you didn't so we will put a

little bit of garlic in the beans

actually I put quite a lot in them did you see that it is a good job that mr.

Steve also likes garlic it's a very good job indeed

so I will throw this away for recycling there it goes

so the baked beans are now heating slowly very gently you mustn't boil

beans and then after 10 minutes I will turn the pizza round I will rotate it to

make sure that it cooks evenly on both ends there's nothing worse than a soggy

pizza do you hate that do you hate it when the pizza is all very soggy and wet

and that means it hasn't been cooked evenly so now we will wait for 10

minutes and then I will turn the pizza round

I'm giving the beans a little stir so the the garlic will mix into the beans

and then we will have a beautiful delicious flavor and of course you know

what mr. Steve likes to do he likes to put garam masala into the beans as well

unfortunately I don't like garam masala all that much I don't like it in baked

beans so mr. Steve always puts his spices on afterwards because I don't

like them okay madams and monsieurs we will now take the pizza out of the oven

and turn it round

yes look at that it's coming along rather nicely

so on one end it's going Brown and on the other it isn't so I'm turning the

pizza round to make sure that it Browns all the way around the best pizza is a

hot pizza and of course it has to be cooked just right would you like a piece

of my pizza if you would like a piece of my pizza all you have to do is answer

this question where was the first pizza made and I will post a slice of pizza to

you what's that no that's not a good idea

apparently according to someone over there who is completely invisible you

are not allowed to post pizzas through the mail

Bert anyway the question still stands where was the first-ever pizza made if

you think you know the answer let me know on today's livestream so I think

now the pizza is ready so wait there I

need my tea towel because the baking tray will now be very hot so here we go

it's time to take the pizza the oven

Wow look at that now that is a perfect pizza I think I made a really good job

of that pizza even though it is a pre-prepared one I'm sure lots of people

will complain they will say mr. Duncan how could you buy a pizza from the

supermarket you should make one yourself from scratch that's a great expression

if you do something from scratch it means you do it from the very beginning

so let's serve the pizza shall we so the beans are nice and hot now I am going to

use the sharp edge to cut the pizza in half so here we go mr. Steve always

likes to have a smaller piece so I have a large piece and mr. Steve has a small

piece so here we go let's cut the pizza in half shall we hopefully I won't burn

my hands because normally I tend to burn my hands when I'm doing this so I will

try not to do it today

so there you go pizza is now ready I would put the pizza and the beans into

the oven for 10 minutes and then I will serve them to mr. Steve that is my and

that one is mr. Steve's and there it is another meal ready to be served and

eaten I will now return you back to the studio where we will continue with

today's Sunday live English

of that well unfortunately I have to stay indoors but don't worry because

I've been able to bring the outside into the studio today

are wondering what you are looking at behind me that is actually a live view

out of the window and you can see it's a beautiful day today it's absolutely

glorious here in the UK which is good news for many people unless of course

you suffer with hay fever in which case it is very bad news

nosy maybe you can have nosy neighbors living next door so maybe the people

living next door to you are very nosy they are always watching you through the

curtains they are very nosy so a person who is

too inquisitive or maybe they ask too many personal questions or maybe they

are always spying on you we can say that they are very nosy so there it is a very

good nose idiom so do you know any nose idioms please let me know

the masters of pizza making I did eat pizza when I was in Turkey I

of your boss we can say that you are a brown nose brown nose you are brown

your own nose it means you trust your own instincts you follow your own nose

Pedro yes I wasn't here yesterday because I was ill I was very sick with

hay fever it's very annoying yes the pollen yesterday was getting

right up my nose literally and that is another idiom by the way another idiom

that we can use in English connected with the nose so if something gets up

your nose if something gets up your nose it means it annoys you or irritates you

something that really annoys you we can say that it gets up your nose oh you

really get up my nose my work colleague is always telling me what to do it

really gets up my nose so there is another expression another idiom

connected with the nose in fact there are quite a few in the English language

race or a competition and maybe there is very little in the difference between

first and second place you can say that you won by a nose in a horse race if two

horses cross the finishing line at the same time and one of them is slightly in

front of the other one we can say that it won by a nose so in other words the

race was won very narrowly very narrowly so yes I'm okay today not too bad I

can't complain Sycho says in our language there is an idiom that a person

doesn't they're another to interfere in

hours after the live stream has finished for example if my live stream finishes

at 3 o'clock you might see the subtitles appear at around about maybe 5 o'clock

or 6 o'clock so that's that's my thing about the captions and subtitles yes I
