LIVE from Shrewsbury town centre - At the first ever 'Pride' event.

welcome this is Mr Duncan in England I hope you  are having a good day here I am now walking around  

Shrewsbury it is the main town here in Chop Shop  in fact you might say that it is the county town  

I suppose it's very busy here I am here for one  reason and one reason only today it is pride day  

lots of people celebrating all of those wonderful  rainbow colors and I'm walking around trying my  

best not to pick the music up too clearly  because I will get a copyright strike from  

YouTube so I have to be very careful anyway  I hope you are having a good day I'm outside  

live I think the signal is okay if you can't  hear me please let me know if you can hear  

me please let me know as well so it is gay pride  today oh that's clever I'm already getting abuse

abusing me already isn't that lovely it's very  nice so welcome to a very strange English addict  

on a Saturday I know I'm not normally here on  Saturday I don't have Mr Steve with me because  

he had a prior engagement unfortunately so he's  doing something else so here I am in Shrewsbury  

it's been pouring with rain can I  just say the rain has been coming  

down so heavily it's been really really  miserable most of the people have gone  

there were lots of people here but now  most of them have gone and having to be  

careful here because the music playing in  the background is actually copyrighted and  

if YouTube hears the music then I will  get a copyright strike so behind me now

behind me um there aren't many  people here at the moment um

I'm back so the crowd is here we're having a good  time but the only problem is there aren't many  

people here because most people have actually gone  most people have gone home because it was raining  

Pride but there are people here if  I walk amongst the crowd you will  

see that there are quite a few people  here of all shapes and dare I say sizes

I don't normally come to these sorts of events  to be honest but today I thought I would make  

an exception because this is the first ever  Pride event to take place in Shrewsbury now  

for those who don't know Shrewsbury is a rather  conservative place oh more copyrighted music  

oh good sorry YouTube please YouTube don't take  away my my channel I know I know they're playing  

copyrighted music and I'm trying to get out of  the way or else my stream will be taken off see  

that's really annoying that is the problem when  you come to public events quite often they will  

play copyrighted music and if I broadcast that  then YouTube will say naughty naughty Mr Duncan  

you shouldn't do that you naughty man anyway  this is it I'm so pleased that the rain has  

stopped it was absolutely throwing it down  oh a bit of Depeche Mode now good okay this  

is not Depeche Mode playing oh my goodness  why do they keep playing copyrighted music  

it's making it's making my job very difficult  because now I have to move away from the music  

and if I move move away from the music then  I also move away from the atmosphere of what  

is happening anyway we can enjoy the scenery  here in Shrewsbury here it is a very old town  

and there are lots of small streets lots of old  buildings you might notice behind me there is a  

very old building just behind me I have to be  honest I don't come to Shrewsbury very often  

I'm not a regular visitor to Shrewsbury okay  this is it I was hoping for something slightly  

more dramatic and more fun maybe but unfortunately  because of the weather because it was raining so  

much however just before I started my live stream  the rain actually stopped I can't believe it the  

rain actually stopped falling so I I have to make  sure that I don't get a copyright strike I know  

if Mr Steve was here now he'd say Mr Duncan you  shouldn't worry so much about getting a copyright  

strike but I don't want one you see so I can't  I can't actually operate the live chat either  

unfortunately so can I say hello to the live chat  I hope you are having a good day there are many  

people here people enjoying themselves you can  see there are people going by with their rainbow  

flags and their rainbow hats and earlier we had  lots and lots of rainbow umbrellas because it was  

raining it was pouring down with rain which was  not much fun anyway I wish they would stop playing  

copyrighted music because if a YouTube hears this  they will take away my my monetization and I don't  

want that to be honest anyway for those who are  wondering what's going on it's Mr Duncan that's  

me by the way and I'm in the middle of Shrewsbury  which is in Shropshire which is in England which  

is in the United Kingdom which is well floating  in the middle of the Atlantic to be honest  

so I hope you're having a good day I'm not  having too bad a time I do wish Mr Steve  

was here that's the only thing I regret  is not having Mr Steve here with me so

of Shrewsbury and I have to say there are  lots of colorful people wearing lots of  

colorful clothing you can see many of them  going by as I'm doing my live stream in fact  

and I would say that today has been a success  because there were many people here there was  

also a very large March earlier on  a lot of people were marching around  

showing their pride as it were as I said earlier  I don't normally attend Pride events I think I in  

my whole life I've been to maybe two Pride events  in my whole life oh good more copyrighted music  

can everyone please stop can you just play  some generic music that no one knows and  

won't be identified by YouTube okay I'm gonna  have to come over here I'm sorry about this  

but if they do insist on playing copyrighted  music there's nothing I can do about it anyway  

I hope you're having a good day I'm not too  bad I'm soaking wet by the way because it's  

been raining not only has it been raining  it's been raining quite a lot to be honest  

so most of the people who were attending the  pride March have now gone the main reason  

being it's been raining a lot and well it's not  much fun really if I was honest with you no one  

wants to get wet when you think about it one of  the things I've noticed about Shrewsbury is how  

busy it is there are so many people walking around  I have to say I'm rather impressed and you might  

also notice behind me this is one of the main  roads in the town center and what they've done  

is they've closed the road so people can just walk  around without worrying about being run over by  

any Vehicles which is nice when you think about it  anyway I think the copyrighted music has finished  

so I'm going to see what is happening they have  a large stage set up just around a corner here  

and I think they have a group of people now  coming onto the stage to sing a song I don't  

know how many people there are oh it's just  two people it's one person with a guitar and  

another lady who is going to be singing so I  just hope they don't do any copyrighted songs

show you and let you listen to this but you  know we live in a very strange world where  

you can't stop it please stop singing that song  this might be the worst live stream I've ever done  

I will be honest with you it has been a  bit of a disaster if I was honest with it  

anyway I'm gonna have to  move away from this because  

no my my lives will be closed down by YouTube it's  true I'm not joking so if you hear copyrighted  

music during a live stream YouTube will actually  close it down they will disconnect it because  

they think you are being very naughty you  see so I can't I can't help it [Music]

come stop singing Beatles and John Lennon songs  it's very annoying and I can't get away from it  

seems to be resonating around the streets oh  well I'm looking looking forward to getting  

my copyright strikes later on so now I'm I'm  venturing away from the the gate area and I'm  

heading into what I call normal land this is where  all the normal people are by that I mean well you  

know what I mean so now I'm walking amongst the  hoi polloi the great unwashed as I like to call it  

it's a busy day here and of course it is  Saturday and the thing about Saturday is  

lots of people do come into town to do their  shopping and of course it is the end of the  

month which means it is payday so for a lot of  people they are here spending their money because  

it's the end of the month so many people now  have money burning a hole in their pockets  

that's what we say by the way if you have money  that you can't wait to spend we say that you you  

have money that is burning a hole in your pocket  because you really want to spend it so here I am  

oh look there is Shrewsbury Market Hall behind  me I'm not sure if the market is still there

one of the sad things about life here  in the UK is many places have of course  

closed down as more and more people  go online to do their shopping then  

the effect of that is that many of the  shops in the towns have sadly closed down  

foreign so it's been a very interesting day I've  never seen Shrewsbury so excited by anything to be  

honest and everyone's walking past me and they're  all saying the same thing is is he a gay do you  

think he's a gay do you think he's do you think  he's doing what are those no don't worry about it  

whether I am or not it doesn't matter that's  what I say oh look at that apparently they have

markets don't get any better than this  well if I had the courage I would go in  

and I would look around but I'm not  going to because I'm a scaredy cat  

although I have to say it does take a lot of  courage to do what I'm doing now oh my goodness  

I knew I nearly fell over then there was a there  was a step look can you see that step behind me  

I nearly broke my neck on that step then so  what are they singing now I wonder what song  

are they singing there oh I think it's I Will  Survive oh that's good another copyrighted song

can't anyone write their own music and then I  don't have to worry about having copyright strikes  

I know what you're going to say Mr Duncan you  shouldn't worry so much about it but I do worry  

I worry a lot about it because if I  get a copyright strike then I lose

oh dear there are so many people walking around  at the moment a lot of them looking very wet  

because it has been raining I have to say I  do like Shrewsbury I love the long streets

so here we here we are here we have Shrewsbury  on a very wet and miserable Saturday afternoon

I want to move around a little bit more but  I'm worried about losing my internet signal  

if I lose the signal you see then well then  this will be a bit of a disaster to be honest  

so now you can see what's rosebury is like  it is pretty much like every other large town  

in the country lots of shops lots of people  sometimes there is lots of traffic and sometimes  

there isn't but look up here look how many people  there are I'm going to slowly walk up here and  

I'm going to walk amongst the people so for those  wondering what a typical Saturday in England looks  

like in a large Town well this is it really it was  basically what it looks like it's not it's not as  

interesting as you would imagine it to be to be  honest anyway I shall turn the camera back on me

this might be this might be the  worst live stream I've ever done  

in my life I think so I'm not sure if it was  worth it I actually caught a bus this morning  

I haven't traveled by bus for such a long  time but today I thought I will travel by bus  

and I've come to Shrewsbury I got soaking wet  and now I'm standing here with my damp clothes  

I'm thirsty I'm hungry I'm cold and  damp but at least I'm here with you

there's people people saying hello there I don't  know why they probably recognize me from YouTube  

yes so I am in Shrewsbury at the moment and  I seem to be attracting a lot of attention  

from people I don't know why because  I'm such a shy person in real life  

for those who've met me you'll  know that I am a bearish person

oh there's a few people waving to me I seem to  be attracting a lot of attention I don't know why  

oh that's better I'm trying to I'm trying to  support my my microphone and also my camera at  

the same time and I'm not I'm not making a very  good job of it to be honest oh hello everyone

Barrett and this is a well-known shop this is the  sort of shop that Mr Steve always goes into health  

food shop they sell a lot of health food and all  sorts of things there so this is the sort of shop  

that Mr Steve often goes to can you show us the  street well this is the street there is the street  

you see the street behind me with people walking  around most of them looking completely miserable  

because of course they are British there's one  thing that the British do very well it's walk  

around and look miserable and I have to say  they are all doing a very very good job of it

well maybe my students do you  think they might be my students

I'm getting more and more attention is it  drizzling well about half an hour ago the  

rain was pouring incredibly heavily it was really  really raining a lot I'm trying to rest my camera  

the problem is it's making my arm ache a  little bit that's better oh that's much nicer  

so yes I am enjoying the sights and sounds of  a place called Shrewsbury this is it this is  

this is the place this is the main town in  this area so you can look it up on the map  

if you look up Shrewsbury on the map and this  is the place so this is the main town in this  

area there is another town of course called  Telford which is not very far away from here  

you might describe that as a new town it was  actually built from from nothing and it and it  

is a modern town so during the 1970s and late  60s that there were some towns that were built  

and they didn't exist before and Telford  is one of those towns it is referred to  

often referred to as a new town and the  reason is because it well it is a new town  

as its name suggests anyway for those wondering  what's going on I am in Shrewsbury today it's  

a rainy day I am soaking wet I got so  wet today I can't tell you how wet I got

I wish I'd brought my tripod that's all  I can say anyway if you are enjoying this

I think some people think that English people  are good looking very polite very what's the  

word Charming that's it so a lot of people  think that British people are quite Charming  

but I'm not sure about that you see I'm not  sure if we are Charming I think maybe some  

are and some aren't so maybe some British  people are very Charming like today for  

example there there have been some very  Charming people walking around behind me

this feels very weird by the way I I don't feel  completely comfortable doing this I will I will  

just tell you now well it is Saturday and I  suppose most people are doing other things  

on the internet so I wouldn't be surprised if  no one joins me today and also maybe you're  

not interested in the subject as well which  I'm talking about today I don't even know  

what the subject is I'm talking about oh  just behind me can I just show you a bit  

of British culture here we have a branch of a  well-known food shop there it is Preta Manja  

I hope I pronounced it right so this is  kind of a this place is kind of a high class  

sandwich shop they sell sandwiches very expensive  sandwiches apparently if you go down to London  

you you will find that that these places called  Preta Manja they they sell very expensive  

sandwiches sometimes seven or eight pounds can  you imagine paying seven pounds for a sandwich

seven pounds for a sandwich are you  joking there is no way I can I can  

spend seven pounds on a sandwich happy  people happy people they're so happy

oh dear Mr Duncan can you please pretend you  are a reporter yes here we are today talking  

about the financial problems and we're going  to ask some people what they think about the  

government at the moment is the government doing  a good job or is it doing a stinky old smelly job

by the way is the signal alright

because I was getting a 5G signal  a few minutes ago so I'm not sure  

how many G's I'm getting now maybe no geez  oh thank you v-test yes I'm walking along  

amongst the people the beautiful beautiful  British people can I just say that we are  

beautiful all of us British people the  most beautiful people in the world Maybe

well at least the rain has stopped the  thing is what you have to remember is  

no one really wants to be filmed or to be on TV  no one really wants to be in the public eye most  

people would prefer to be anonymous and stay  anonymous so that's why as I walk around you  

see no nobody's really taking any notice of me  they're just pretending that I'm not even here  

some people of course get very excited when  they see a person with a camera they get a  

little bit excited like these girls will  in a moment see I think these girls are  

going to get very excited as they go by let's  just see what happens will I get excited yeah  

oh maybe not see I thought those girls were  going to get really excited but they didn't

would you like to have a vape here it is  look there is actually a shop here that sells  

those wonderful e-cigarettes here it is  so if you want to to refill your vaping  

this is the place to come to by the way  vaping is now very popular here in the UK  

in fact quite often as you walk through  the streets you will see clouds of smoke  

everywhere you go here we go so that is what  happens when a person is vaping you get lots  

and lots of smoke coming off them like that man  who just went by he is sucking on his vaping  

ah well this is this is all rather Charming don't  you think I wasn't expecting this to happen to be  

honest I really wasn't sure what was going to  happen oh he was so many singing outside a shop

she is singing Over the Rainbow which  is of course another copyrighted song  

so I'm going to go by very quickly  so I don't get a copyright strike

here it is everyone here is Shrewsbury  the place that you've probably heard of  

maybe you've thought about coming here to visit  well if this doesn't put you off nothing will  

ah dear I know I should have worn something  a little bit more I don't know colorful  

I think so yes yes I feel as if I'm letting  the side down a little bit there are pigeons  

everywhere here why are there so many pigeons oh  I would love to talk to someone but unfortunately  

they would probably hit me so that's that's one  of the problems you see if you if you talk to a  

stranger in the street here in this country they  will probably hit you so you do have to be careful  

oh by the way can you see behind me there was a  shopping center that entrance the entrance just  

behind me that is where Mr Steve and myself we  went in there to get our rings so there you go  

if you don't know what I'm talking about then  then you should watch more often that's all I  

can say well this has been a complete and utter  disaster first of all it rained I got soaking wet  

and then everyone disappeared and then everyone  on the stage at the pride event they all started  

singing copyrighted songs so I couldn't even show  any of that I'm really disappointed to be honest  

although I can stand here right now I'm enjoying  standing here waiting for a pigeon to do a poop on  

my head so that that will be the highlight of this  live stream if if at least one pigeon flies over  

me and there's a giant on my head so that would be  very nice anyway let's walk a bit further down and  

there and then I will cut this live stream off  because I don't think anyone's watching really

I I still can't quite believe I'm doing this I  mean you could do this sort of thing in London

of Shrewsbury yes well Shrewsbury is a busy  place a big town it used to be the divide by  

the way between Wales and England you might not  realize it but Wales and England used to be sworn  

enemies they used to be enemies and they were  often fighting over land and things like that  

so Shrewsbury because it has a river going  through the middle of it it was a good place  

to have a fortress there is also a castle here  and also some some what remains of the city wall  

there used to be a wall right around here as  well some pride people I can see pride people  

there are still a lot of people walking around  I can't believe I'm doing this I really can't  

believe I'm walking around Shrewsbury doing it  live I must be crazy well at least I haven't been  

beaten up yet so that's good I always find it a  very positive thing when no one decides to beat

spend all of your money on a soggy  old sandwich go to pretermange

there's the bank oh look at that there's a  bank as a bank and maybe I should go inside  

and get some money from the bank maybe  are you advertising the chair who sorry  

what are you advertising no nothing and I just  thought I'd ask yes no I'm just just talking  

about Shrewsbury oh is it sorry no it's okay I'm  just talking to some people no that's all right

ah well that was how can I put this politely that  was a drink guy very drunk and for a moment there  

I really thought he was going to hit me but  he didn't he just asked what I was doing  

I don't know why he asks because it's to be  honest with you it's none of his business  

yeah I said it I went there oh look where we are  we're back we are now back outside the market  

whether the market still exists whether it is  still open as a market I don't know I have no idea

there aren't many gay people around I have  to say I'm a bit disappointed I thought I  

thought there would be more gay people walking  around to be honest hmm I feel like a minority  

within a minority that was very deep very deep  look at that now can you see there a little  

statue I don't know what that is all about but  I'm sure it has some sort of significance and I'm  

sure that the local Council spent thousands and  thousands of pounds on that and yet I have no idea  

why it's there or what it signifies but I'm  sure it means something I'm sure it means so

hmm

one of the problems with doing this  

is if you talk for a long time  eventually you will lose your voice

well this might be the worst  live stream I've ever done  

so what is this for is this does this do anything

no no it doesn't do anything well  that was that was money well spent

ah oh we are about to go near a place that is  very dear to my heart some might say literally  

ah food yes food as you know if you are  

a regular viewer you will know that I love food  very much I am a big fan of food I like food I  

love food in fact I I think it's fair to say that  I couldn't live without food [Music] there it is

and just across the road here you will see  

a place that has been around for many years this  particular chain of fast food restaurants here  

it is I will show you now there it is wimpy look  at that now that is a very well-known chain there  

used to be lots of these around in the 1970s but  nowadays there aren't so many unfortunately most  

of them have closed down so this is what we  used to eat before McDonald's came to the UK  

there used to be lots of these wimpy restaurants  everywhere and sometimes my mum would take me  

to the local wimpy restaurant in Stafford  and we would have a wimpy and it was lovely  

but now unfortunately there aren't many wimpies  left this is one of the few that remain in this  

country the other thing as well is it's very  expensive if you go to wimpy you might pay 13  

pounds for a beef burger it's a bit expensive  it's more expensive than Preta manager which  

take some doing when you think about it so this is  it this is Shrewsbury there is a lot more I would  

love to show you there is a river yes there is  are you right Mr Duncan are you telling the truth  

yes there is a huge river that runs right through  the middle of Shrewsbury the the river seven the  

river seven hmm look it up maybe you can Google it  you can go to Google and Google the river Severn  

ah oh I must be careful here because there are  cars driving along the road so this is not an  

area where pedestrians can walk this is also  where there are lots and lots of cars as well

one of the things you will notice when you  walk around any typical British town you  

will see lots of Charity shops and the reason  why there are lots of Charity shops is because  

most of the shops have closed down so many  Charities will move into those shops and they will  

get a special rate of for their rent it will be  much cheaper so if you ever go to a British town  

you will see lots of Charity shops so this one  here is a charity shop the one you can see behind  

me that is actually a charity shop and there  are many charity shops in towns around the UK

walking around Shrewsbury and trying his best not  to get beaten up I had a drunk guy a few moments  

ago he was completely drunk and I thought he was  going to hit me but he didn't he didn't hit me  

he changed his mind I have a feeling  he must have thought about it I think  

he must have thought about hitting me  because most people do at some point

I'm suddenly aware that there are cars so certain  parts of Shrewsbury are pedestrian eyes it means  

that only people can walk along those parts  and here we are we are back here again at the  

whatever this is I don't know what this is there  it is again it is some sort of modern sculpture  

I don't I don't know if it lights does it  light up I don't know I'm really intrigued  

I want to know what it is what is this  what is this thing here can you see it  

what is it what is it for what does it do I  have a feeling at night maybe this lights up  

I think maybe it lights up at  night and flashes I think so

maybe it's some sort of Memorial to all  of the people who came to Shrewsbury  

and got lost and we're never seen again  

it can happen because there are a lot of streets  in Shrewsbury so maybe that that is actually what  

happened maybe that is a memorial to all  the people who who got lost in Shrewsbury

maybe that's what it's for I don't  know anyway all I can say about  

today's live stream is it was a little bit  disappointing because it rained quite a lot  

here is Mr Steve's favorite shop he likes  to go here because they sell boots and  

socks and all sorts of sporting things so  Mr Steve likes that place very much [Music]

well I can safely say that I need a cup  of coffee I really do I need something  

the only place that you shouldn't go to is here  

the place behind me I'm going to show you the  place behind me this is the worst coffee shop  

it is the worst coffee shop that I've ever been  into Cafe Nero it's so disgusting inside and we

so I'm heading there back towards the  Pride event and I'm just hoping that  

they're not paying playing any copyrighted  music [Music] I have to say I think is  

quite good here I think there's quite  a good Wi-Fi signal around the center

of Shrewsbury

it's a very interesting place I have to say and  if you ever want to come to Shrewsbury then you  

will see lots of buildings that look like this  very nice buildings very lovely buildings so you  

may have noticed they're not teaching much  English today but maybe there is something  

that I'm saying something I'm doing that it  might be of interest to you [Music] I'm sorry

we will not be beaten by the weather no we won't  everybody feeling a little bit wet yes I'm feeling  

very wet humid I'm very aware I put my sunglasses  on to try and tempt the sun back out anybody else  

out there with Shades do it it occasionally  works sometimes I make it worse for you all  

if it starts pouring down feel free to blame  me but whatever you do do not leave the square  

because we have gone thing coming up  for you right now and we're going to

Shrewsbury Pride how are we doing [Applause]  are we all having a good Pride [Applause]  

amazing so my name is Philly me up um for the  adults there you can probably guess what that's  

about for the kids I love a lot of sweets so  you can always buy me sweets I'm always happy  

to be filled up with sweets so it's lovely to  be here everyone I'm gonna do a little bit of  

poetry and lip syncing do we want to see  some lip syncing and poetry Shrewsbury no  

no we don't amazing so my first poem is  all about um fat phobia and my body [Music]

this is all at the moment when my phone goes  really slow me too and everybody's staring

so this poem is called facts it's hard not always  feeling like you belong for me being fat is one  

of the reasons why made feel disgusting and  wrong pushed to hate my body and made to cry  

have you ever had someone on a day  take one looking inside and walk away  

I have have you ever had someone take one of them

I have you ever had group of people  laughing really anybody who is on the  

Dance Floor I so there it was a taste of  what happens when we have a pride event

for a moment I thought it was Mr Steve so that  is my poem and now I'm going to do a lipstick  

for you oh no is this going to be copyrighted  music I think it's going to be copyrighted music

that's nice well I hope you enjoyed that  spontaneous moment of whatever whatever that was  

oh I'm now going back to the main street but in  fact I just said that this is the main street  

but it isn't it isn't the Main Street there are  lots of streets around Shrewsbury to be honest

you know I haven't seen anyone famous there aren't  many famous people living here in Shrewsbury

except me of course

no I'm not famous don't worry  

not too many people gathered here the reason why  there are not many people gathered here is because  

well it's been raining for most of the day  and a lot of the people have now gone home  

so that's the reason why there aren't many people  there because most people have gone because of the  

rain it was raining and they said oh we don't  want to stand in the rain we'll get wet I don't  

want to stand in the rain we'll get wet so so  that's it that's the reason why there aren't many  

people here because it's been raining however  there are still lots of people walking around  

doing their shopping there are a lot of  people walking around shopping at the moment

so many of the buildings in Shrewsbury are  old there are some famous landmarks as well  

in Shrewsbury there are lots of landmarks  in Shrewsbury famous places that you may  

or may not have heard of there is well  there are a couple of well-known churches  

there is also a large Monument  as well you can visit that  

there is also the structure that I showed  you earlier I don't know what that was  

a lot of people looking they're going what's  he doing what's that man doing he's talking  

to himself all the police are coming now I have  to be here because the police are on their way  

they they might arrest me you see for for lurking  around so I do have to be careful the police look  

see there it is there it is so that proves that  I am not wanted by the police yeah it proves  

that I'm not one hello hi hello hello hello  hello to you hello to me hello to everyone

if Mr Steve is watching I will go into  Holland and Barrett the health food  

shop I will go in there and get that  special that special medicine that you  

wanted to help you poop I will go in there  afterwards and get that for you don't worry  

and here behind me if you notice there is a  shop that at the moment is empty but is being  

turned into something else I wonder what shop  will open there what shop will open will it be  

another charity shop I think it will be yes I  think I'm pretty sure it will be a charity shop

anyway I've been here for nearly one hour and  I think it's time to go for two reasons I want  

to stop before it rains and also I need to get  my bus back to Much Wenlock as well so we will  

take one last look at the Main Street here in  Shrewsbury as the first ever Pride event takes  

place and continues behind me and I will see  you again I hope you've enjoyed this I will be

so it will feel very strange because we haven't  actually been to in the studio for a long time
