I was having a little conversation with uh  somebody hi this is Mr dunan in England on  

planet Earth it's day 17 of 31 days of  Dunctober how are you today if you are

I love idioms and I get the feeling you do too  as I'm always being asked to mention more so  

today I have some idioms to share the first  idiom is to go pear shaped when something  

goes pear shaped it means that a plan has gone  wrong the thing you had arranged has now been  

thrown into confusion a thing you are making  has not gone to plan it has gone pear shaped  

the phrase refers to the odd shape of a pair  which itself looks as if it has gone done wrong.

another great idiom is a bolt from the blue  this idiom refers to an unexpected event or  

occurrence something you had not planned  for has happened perhaps you have received  

some devastating news a friend or relative  has suddenly died your intended husband or  

wife suddenly calls off your wedding it  is a shocking event it came like a bolt  

from the blue the idiom refers to a bolt  of lightning striking with without warning  

from a pleasant Clear Blue Sky to get a shock  with no warning is like a bolt from the blue.

Our third idiom is an elephant in the  room or the elephant in the room this  

quirky phrase refers to something awkward or  embarrassing that everyone is aware of but  

no one is willing to mention or dis discuss a  big issue that is not easy to talk about can be  

described as an elephant in the room imagine  you are sitting in a room with others and in  

the corner is an elephant everyone is aware  of it but no one is willing to point it out  

that awkward problem or delicate situation will  not go away on its own just like the elephant.

oh I have one more idiom before I leave you to  get a kick this phrase means to get a thrill or  

pleasure from something the kick refers to the  actual pleasure derived a thrilling thing can  

be described as a kick you can get your kicks by  doing something you enjoy it is often used when  

talking about something you should not be doing  or an action that is frowned upon it is often  

used negatively he gets his kicks by following  women around the supermarket the word kick can  

also mean to stop doing something a bad habit you  have can be kicked you can kick the habit another  

use of kick is kick the bucket this means to  die you have kicked the bucket you have died
