Welcome to Broadstairs!

Eat Sleep Dreamers, welcome to Broadstairs.

It's taken me an hour and a half to get here on the train from London but I'm finally here.

And I'm so pleased to be here.

The sun is shining, the sky is blue.

Look there are hundreds of people having an amazing time out there.

So why do people love coming to an English seaside town?

Well, you've got fish and chips, ice cream, the beach, the sea, the sunshine it's all

there for you and we are going to explore this beautiful town together.

I'm walking along the beach here at Broadstairs and I've just seen the most traditional English

seaside town activity ever!

It's called Punch and Judy and it's like a theatre, a little puppet theatre for children.

I used to love it as a kid, let's go over there and see what it's like.

This is the most fun you can have at the beach, definitely.

Hi!

So we've come to my favourite beach in Broadstairs it's called Stone Bay.

Let's take a little walk along it and see what we can find.

I've taken my flip flops off and I'm just having a walk along the beach.

Now, I was tempted to go into the sea but I dipped my toes in earlier, I tested the

water, and it's freezing even though the sun is shining today.

It's really cold, so please don't ask me to go swimming.

One thing that I loved about being on this beach was that on a clear day you could see

France and that was so exciting to me.

The idea that we could go to France and maybe even to Europe was just incredible.

The word we're going to look at today is 'me time'.

Now, 'me time' is time spent on your own, doing the things that you love, and it's maybe

after a period of time where you've spent a lot of time with other people.

So maybe at work or with friends and you just want some time on your own to clear your mind

and enjoy the things you love doing.

So maybe it's reading a book on the sofa or going for a walk, things like that.

Now here in Broadstairs, I've spent a lot of time with my family and obviously I love

my family but I went for a walk by myself along the beach and that was my way of getting

some me time.

Ok, so let's put that into a sentence.

'I find every week, I need a little me time' ' I find every week, I need a little me time.'

One thing that makes an English seaside town a little bit special are beach huts.

Now beach huts are colourful little wooden huts that people have right by the sea.

Ok, have a look, you can see the sea right there.

And they keep all the things they need for the beach inside.

So, you've got your bucket, spades, towels, swimming costumes, a kettle to make tea, because

of course all English people love to make tea and you keep them right there.

And it's safe and it's stored and then when you go home at night time you leave them there

and then in the morning you come back and you've got it all ready for you.

Perfect!

Each one is like a work of art.

Different colours, different designs and people take pride, they are very proud of their beach

huts.

No trip to the seaside would be complete without an ice cream and I've got mine so I'm very

very happy.
