It's actually my first time

I'll be properly celebrating Valentine's Day.

I have, you know, done things  on Valentine's Day before,

Why should just one day of the year

It should be throughout the year.

And little things that you do for  your partner on a regular basis

show that you... your love and affection for them

My thoughts generally, erm...

it's a bit of a cop-out, really.

moneymaking scheme. - Right,  yeah. I've heard this.

Er... because like, I love  my girlfriend every day.

I don't like, it's not like I  need to buy her present like,

one day a year. - Yeah. - Like,  and just feed companies money

by buying them presents.

And so then, in terms of  like, gestures of romance.

I'm not... I'm not good on  flowers, I have to be honest. - No!

Erm... well, I'm afraid I'm a bit of  an old cynic with Valentine's Day.

And I just... I do see it  as a commercial opportunity,

to just like, get people to spend lots of money,

because I guess, every day  should be a gesture of love.

done things on Valentine's Day before.

So... and a bit disingenuous  if I'm perfectly honest,

So yeah, I've got nothing personally against it.

can only be a good thing.

I guess for me, I've never...

never really celebrated Valentine's Day.

Mostly 'cos for a while there  wasn't anyone to celebrate with,

And, we haven't really done a huge amount since,

many 'cos it feels a bit, overly Americanised.

I hope that I do a good enough job of, sort of,

expressing my affection generally,

that I don't need to do it all one... one day.

So, I would say, I'm not a  huge fan of one day of the year

Well, it was a couple of weeks ago,

that you went to the local shop for er...

milk and bread and came back  with milk and bread and flowers.

And that was just a spontaneous;  ''I've brought these for you''.

And they weren't just your  normal garage style tiny bunch.

Bakewell tart, I think it was, yeah.

Becaus... because of... I've  got... I've got coeliac disease,

왜냐하면... 때문에... 저는 ... 체강 질병에 걸렸기

so I have to be very careful with what I eat.

때문에 먹는 것에 매우 조심해야 합니다.

So I have to have a special diet.

So, that's affected both of us.

But Susan goes out of her way  to find recipes on the internet,

I'm expecting a... a baby in April but er...

But er... yeah, I'm gonna ask.

I have asked her out, I've given her some flowers,

but er... I don't know exactly  what I want to do, right now.

But I'm very spontaneous. - Okay.

Yes, yes. - He's not very good on surprises.

I have to ask my daughter  to drop hints, if I need it.

or you had something done for  you, like a romantic gesture?

well, it was my husband's birthday last week.

So we went for... I got my  mum to look after our kids

and we went for a big walk on The (South) Downs.

우리는 The (South) Downs에서 큰 산책을 했습니다.

And there's a local vineyard close by

근처에 현지 포도원이 있는데

and I called the guy whilst we were walking

우리가 걷는 동안 그 사람에게 전화를 걸어 우리가

and asked if we could stop by  and buy a bottle of champagne,

which is made on our like, doorstep. - Wow!

Which... and he did.

And we went and sat on the top of the hill

You know, all the restaurants  are totally full like,

So, I think we're a bit of  those last-minute people.

So, we might just, you know,  maybe a couple of days afterwards

How do you do romantic gestures,  then, if not on one day?

I think romantic maybe, is a... is  a sort of, umbrella phrase, really.

제 생각에는 로맨틱한 아마도, is a...는 일종의 우산 문구입니다.

Because, I think random acts of kindness,

무작위적인 친절한 행동은

can be seen as romantic gestures.

낭만적인 몸짓으로 보일 수 있기 때문입니다. 우리가

You know, they don't have to  necessarily be linked to love,

in the regular way that we think of it.

생각하는 일반적인 방식으로 반드시 사랑과 연결될 필요는 없습니다.

It can be empathy, kindness, things like that.

공감, 친절, 그런 것들이 될 수 있습니다.

I'll give you one example; The  other day I was at the bus stop

한 가지 예를 들겠습니다. 얼마 전 버스 정류장에

and there was a mum and a dad and a little girl

엄마, 아빠, 어린 소녀가 있었고

and the little girl was going  home to her dad for the weekend.

그 어린 소녀는 주말 동안 아빠에게 집에 가고 있었습니다.

And the mum... the mum said;

그리고 엄마는... 엄마가 말했습니다.

''Oh, I must get you a pair of gloves soon''.

''오, 곧 장갑을 사야겠어''.

But she was... she was not going to  see her little girl for the weekend

하지만 그녀는... 그녀는 주말에

because she was spending the  weekend with her father. - Right.

아버지와 함께 보내기 때문에 주말에 딸을 만나지 않을 예정이었습니다. - 오른쪽.

So, I quickly dashed into the pharmacy

그래서 재빨리 약국으로 달려가

and bought a pair of little gloves.

작은 장갑 한 켤레를 샀습니다.

And then I quickly ran back to the bus stop

그리고 버스가 도착하기 전에 재빨리 버스 정류장으로 돌아갔습니다

and before the bus arrived. - Did you really?

. - 정말 그랬어?

I gave her the gloves, because I just thought;

나는 방금 생각했기 때문에 그녀에게 장갑을주었습니다.

well, I like having warm hands.

뭐, 난 따뜻한 손이 좋은데.

So, I don't know when the mum

그래서 엄마가 언제

was going to get round to getting the gloves,

장갑을 사러 오실지 모르겠지만

but I just thought; well, at least  she'll have gloves for the weekend.

그냥 생각했습니다. 글쎄요, 적어도 주말에는 장갑을 낄 겁니다.

Aw! - So things like that.

아! - 그런 것들이요.

I mean, I just... - That's lovely.

내 말은, 난 그냥... - 멋지네요.

I just think maybe, Valentine's Day  has just become a hyped-up thing,

아마도 발렌타인 데이는 1년 중 하루에 초점을 맞추는 과장된 날이 되었고

where it's focussed on one day of the year

and I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.

그것이 반드시 좋은 것은 아니라고 생각합니다.
