or some type of internet connection and you must spend money to get it.

Of course, money is important to all of us.

Well, yeah, all of us.

So, what I want to work today on is idioms or sayings that have to do with money.

Do you have any of this stuff?

The green, clean green.

Well, we use money not to talk about just buying stuff, but we want to get across three ideas.

So, sometimes we talk about money, we have these three ideas we like to talk about.

One is waste, another is importance, and another one is time.

Now, we talk about these three concepts while using money because money is important to us.

We can show how people are wasteful and what waste means is, well, imagine this.

You go to dinner, you've already had something to eat, but you buy food anyway, so you don't

eat the food, you end up throwing it out.

Well, that's a waste.

It's when you don't use something properly or effectively.

You waste it, right?

So, we use this, we can use money to show this.

You're being wasteful.

We can say something is important or time.

Why don't we start off with time?

In English, we say, "Time is money."

I wish that were true because if I got a dollar for every day I was alive, I'd be a rich man,

but it's not.

But we do say that because money is important, time is important, we time them together.

Sorry, I see somebody thinking I'm important, time money.

Anyway, time is money.

When you say that to somebody, what you're saying is don't waste my time because I could

be earning money, so my time is important.

But, time.

What about importance?

Well, here, we'll do a little picture.

If you're in the UK, what's that little L thing you guys do there?

Now, what about importance?

Well, sometimes, you know, things are important to you, and let's just say somebody says they

promise to do something for you, and you know, you say, "If you really believe you're going

to do it, put your money where your mouth is."

Huh?

Yeah.

I told you, put your money where your mouth is.

What we mean by that is that, sorry, mouth.

If it's that important to you, put money down.

Give me some money to prove it.

Of course, most people don't do that, so then you know how important it really is to them.

So, you know, if you say to somebody, "Put your money where your mouth is," here's some

lips.

If you had a fire in those pants, imagine, there would be a hole.

And with that hole, if you put any money in that pocket, the money would drop through

the hole and disappear.

And the money would be wasted.

You could not use it because you'd lose it.

Well, for some people, if you put money in that pocket, the money would drop through
