Learn the English Phrases "might as well" and "freezing rain"

In this English lesson, I wanted to help

이 영어 수업에서는

you learn the English phrase might as well.

여러분이 영어 구문 'might as well'을 배우는 데 도움을 주고 싶었습니다.

We use this phrase when we're

우리는

saying that we should do something.

무언가를 해야 한다고 말할 때 이 표현을 사용합니다.

I think a good example is this.

좋은 예가 여기에 있다고 생각합니다.

If you're driving in your car on the highway

고속도로에서 차를 운전하다가

and you pull over to get gas, you might

주유를 하기 위해 차를 세웠다면,

as well get something to eat as well.

같이 먹을 것도 사먹는 게 낫겠죠.

Since you're already getting gas, you should eat at the

이미 가스가 차고 있으니,

same time because you don't want to stop later.

나중에 멈추고 싶지 않다면 같은 시간에 먹어야 합니다.

Let's say that I'm stuck at school waiting for one of

내가 학교에 갇혀서

my kids to be done, whatever they are involved in.

아이들이 뭐하든 끝나기를 기다리고 있다고 가정해 보자.

Then I might as well grade some

그러면

student work since I'm at school anyways.

어차피 학교에 있으니까 학생들의 과제를 채점해야 할 것이다. 아이들을 기다리고 있으니까

I should grade some student work

학생들의 과제에 점수를 매겨야겠어요

because I'm waiting for my kids.

So when you might as well do something,

그러니 뭔가를 해도 괜찮을 때는,

it means you should do it usually because

보통 하는 게 좋다는 뜻이에요.

it's just a good idea to do it.

그냥 하는 게 좋은 생각이기 때문이죠. 오늘 여러분께

The other phrase I wanted to teach

가르쳐드리고 싶은 또 다른 표현은 '

you today is the phrase freezing rain.

빙우'라는 표현입니다. 오늘은

It's a snow day.

눈이 오는 날입니다. 어제 밤에 빙판비가 내렸기

I'm recording this on a Thursday because

we had freezing rain last night.

Freezing rain is when it's raining

빙우는 비가 내리지

but it's still below zero.

It's kind of a weird phenomenon, but

you end up with things like this.

You end up with all these little...

You can't quite see them,

do something, it's something you should just do.

Let's say it's 4:00 and Jen and I are sitting down

지금 오후 4시이고, 젠과 저는 간식을 먹으려고 자리에 앉았고

to have a snack and we have to go out later.

We might as well just have a big meal

그냥 푸짐한 식사를 하고

and then we don't have to eat later.

And then freezing rain is when it rains

and it freezes when it hits the ground.

땅에 닿으면 얼어붙는 것을 말합니다.
