Learn the English Term IN COMMON and THE COMMON COLD

In this English lesson I wanted to help

이번 영어 수업에서는

you learn the English phrase in common.

공통적으로 쓰이는 영어 표현을 배우는 데 도움을 드리고 싶었습니다.

When you have something in common with someone,

누군가와 공통점이 있다는 것은 같은 경험을

it means you share the same experience

공유하거나

or you share the same characteristics,

같은 특성을 공유한다는 의미입니다.

here's a good example.

좋은 예가 있습니다.

One of the things that Jen and I have in common

Jen과 저의 공통점 중 하나는

is that we both grew up on farms.

둘 다 농장에서 자랐다는 것입니다.

So you can see that there's something about each of us

그래서 여러분은 우리 각자에 대해 같은 무언가가 있다는 것을 알 수 있습니다

that is the same.

One of the things that all of you have in common,

if you are watching this video,

the thing you have in common is

that you are all learning English.

So in English, when you say

that you have something in common with someone,

it means that you're doing the same thing,

or you share the same thing or the same experience.

Let me try to think of one more example.

One of the things that I have in common

So when you have something in common with someone,

about the two of you.

The second phrase I wanted to teach you today

In the winter, especially in Canada

we get sick sometimes.

So the common cold is the most common illness

and in most places in the world.

So to review,

Let's review,

when you have something in common with someone,

it means that there's something similar

about the both of you,

사람 모두에게 비슷한 점이 있다는 것,

there's something that is the same.

같은 점이 있다는 뜻입니다.

Either an experience or how you look or something else.

경험이나 외모 또는 다른 것.

And the common cold is how we refer to

감기는

the most common illness that you get in Canada in the winter

겨울에 캐나다

and in most places in the world.

와 세계 대부분의 지역에서 걸리는 가장 흔한 질병을 말합니다.

But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video.

I'm laughing at myself because I feel like

I'm doing a really bad job today,
