Learn the English Phrases "to fly off the shelves" and "to sell like hotcakes"

I wanted to help you learn the English phrase “to fly off the shelves”.

저는 여러분이 "to fly off theshelf"라는 영어 표현을 배울 수 있도록 돕고 싶었습니다.

If you are in a store and they are selling something, maybe it's on sale

만약 당신이 상점에 있고 그들이 뭔가를 팔고 있다면 아마도 그것은 세일 중일 것이고

and people are just grabbing it and buying it as fast as they can,

사람들은 그것을 가능한 한 빨리 집어 들고 구매하고 있을 것입니다.

we would say that that product is flying off the shelves.

Sometimes at market we bring a certain kind of flower

So the phrase to fly off the shelves simply means when something sells

The other phrase I want to teach you today is the phrase “to sell like hotcakes”.

when we say that something is selling like hotcakes, it means the same thing.

And my response? They are related, but slightly different.

“to take a load off” makes me think of someone sitting on a couch and relaxing.

“to take a load off”는 소파에 앉아 쉬고 있는 누군가를 생각나게 합니다.

“to let your hair down” makes me think of someone dancing and having fun.

“to let your hair down”은 누군가가 춤을 추며 즐거운 시간을 보내는 것을 생각하게 합니다.

So yeah, they both mean

네, 둘 다

to not work, to do something that's not work.

일하지 않고, 일하지 않는 일을 하겠다는 뜻입니다.

But one has an element of relaxing to it.

그러나 긴장을 푸는 요소가 있습니다.

One means, you know,

하나는

you're just going to take a nap or sit on the couch and watch some sports.

낮잠을 자거나 소파에 앉아 스포츠 경기를 관람한다는 뜻입니다.

And the other one means

그리고 다른 하나는

that you're going to do something fun, something that's not work.

당신이 재미있는 일, 일이 아닌 일을 하게 될 것이라는 뜻입니다.
