Learn the English Terms "face-to-face" and "in person"

In this English lesson, I wanted

the English term face to face.

When you meet someone face to face,

누군가를 직접 만난다는 것은

it means that you're in the same

여러분이 같은

room, you're in the same spot.

방, 같은 장소에 있다는 것을 의미합니다.

It's not the same as

meeting them online.

온라인에서 만나는 것과는 다르죠.

If I was talking to my boss and I

제가 상사와 통화하면서

had a complaint, maybe I'm

불만이 있다면,

talking to my boss on the phone,

전화로 상사에게 말하면서, "

I might say, hey, maybe this

이 문제는 직접 만나서 이야기하는 게 좋을 것 같아요"라고 말할 수도 있을 겁니다

would be better if we do it face

to face.

When you talk to someone face

누군가와 얼굴을 마주하고 이야기할 때는

to face, you can read their facial

얼굴 표정을 읽을 수 있고,

expressions and you can read,

you know, their body language

신체 언어

and what they're actually thinking.

와 실제로 생각하는 바를 읽을 수 있습니다.

But sometimes online

하지만 온라인에서는 가끔

it's a little hard.

조금 어려울 때가 있습니다.

So face to face means that you

따라서 대면이란 마치

are talking to the person

in the same room like you're

physically in the same spot.

물리적으로 같은 장소에 있는 것처럼 같은 방에 있는 사람과 대화한다는 것을 의미합니다.

The other term I wanted

제가 여러분께 가르쳐 드리고 싶은 또 다른 용어는 '

to teach you is in person, which

대면'인데,

means exactly the same thing.

정확히 같은 의미입니다.

If I was talking to my boss and I was

만약 제가 상사와

was talking on the phone and said,

don't think I get paid enough.

And my boss was like, I don't

know, I might say, hey,

can we talk about this in person?

직접 만나서 이야기할 수 있을까요?라고 말할 수도 있을 것 같다고 했습니다. 오늘 늦게

Can I come to your

사무실에 갈 수 있나요

And can we talk in person?

직접 만나서 이야기할 수 있나요?

Because I would just be more

comfortable doing that.

그렇게 하는 게 더 편할 테니까요.

So to review, when you meet someone

그러니까 다시 한번 말씀드리자면, 누군가를

face to face, when you talk

직접 만나거나,

to someone face to face, it means

누군가와 얼굴을 맞대고 이야기할 때는

they're right in front of you.

그 사람이 바로 당신 앞에 있다는 뜻입니다.

You can see their face.

그들의 얼굴을 볼 수 있어요.

And when you meet someone in person

그리고 누군가를 직접 만나

or you talk to someone in person,

거나 직접 대화한다는 것은

it means you're not online, you're

온라인에 접속해 있지 않고, 전화

not on the phone, you're not just

통화를 하고 있지 않으며, 그저

doing it via a messaging system.

메시지 시스템을 통해서만 대화하고 있지 않다는 것을 의미합니다.

You're actually in the same

사실 여러분은 같은

place in the same room.

방, 같은 장소에 있는 셈이죠.
