Learn the English Phrases "to dilly-dally around" and "to ask around"

In this English lesson,

이번 영어 수업에서는

I wanted to help you learn the English phrase

"to dilly-dally around."

"to dilly-dally around"라는 영어 표현을 배울 수 있도록 돕고 싶었습니다.

Now, this is an older phrase,

이제 이것은 오래된 표현이고

and you won't hear it very much anymore,

더 이상 듣지 못할 것입니다.

but my mom said it the other day.

그런데 저희 엄마가 저번에 말씀하셨죠.

My mom said that when she goes down for lunch,

우리 엄마는 점심 먹으러 내려갈 때

she lives in an old age home,

노인 집에 살며

she doesn't dilly-dally around.

멍청하게 돌아 다니지 않는다고 말씀하셨습니다.

She just goes down as quickly as possible,

그녀는 단지 가능한 한 빨리 내려갈 뿐입니다.

because if she dilly-dallies around,

왜냐하면 그녀가 멍하니 돌아다니면 제

she doesn't get there in time,

시간에 도착하지 못하고

and she doesn't get the good food, or something like that.

좋은 음식도 얻지 못하기 때문입니다.

So hopefully you can understand

따라서 딜리-달리(

that to dilly-dally around means to not move quickly.

dilly-dally around)는 빠르게 움직이지 않는다는 것을 의미한다는 것을 이해하시기 바랍니다.

It means to just kind of be lazy for a bit

or not in a hurry.

Jen and I don't often dilly-dally around

The other phrase I wanted to teach you today

When you ask around it means you need to know something,

주위에 물어본다는 것은 뭔가를 알아야 한다는 뜻이고,

and you ask a whole bunch of different people about it.

그것에 대해 다양한 사람들에게 물어본다는 뜻입니다.

So you go and maybe you ask your neighbor,

그래서 가서 이웃에게 물어볼 수도 있고,

maybe you ask your other neighbor.

다른 이웃에게 물어볼 수도 있습니다.

Maybe you ask a relative.

어쩌면 친척에게 물어볼 수도 있습니다.

If I was at market again and if someone said,

내가 다시 시장에 갔는데 누군가

"Is someone here selling garlic?"

"여기 마늘 파는 사람 있어?"라고 말한다면?

I might say, "I don't know,

"모르겠어요"라고 말할 수도

"but if you ask around, maybe you'll find someone who is."

있지만 주변에 물어보면 그런 사람을 찾을 수도 있습니다.

So it just means to ask a whole bunch of different people.

따라서 이는 단지 다양한 사람들에게 물어

So to review, "to dilly-dally around" means to be lazy,

보라는 뜻입니다. around"는 게으른 것,

to not be in a hurry, to be in no rush

서두르지 않는 것,

to do something or get somewhere,

무언가를 하거나 어딘가로 가기 위해 서두르지 않는 것을 의미하고,

and "to ask around" simply means you have a question

"to Ask around"는 단순히 질문이

and you just ask a whole bunch of different people.

있고 여러 사람들에게 물어보는 것을 의미합니다.
